A few years ago, Feilbolai didn't put much effort into studying at Mars Alliance School. He was either playing around or figuring out how to win Fairleya's heart. As a result, he was often involved in various troublesome incidents at school, making the higher-ups cringe whenever they heard his name.
However, after Feilbolai was discharged from the hospital, he underwent a dramatic change in personality. The once playful and mischievous young man, who always carried an air of nonchalance, suddenly transformed into a refined scholar overnight.
The most noticeable change was that Feilbolai no longer visited Fairleya's class every day to seek her attention and endure her scolding. It seemed that Fairleya's status in his heart had diminished; sometimes he couldn't even be bothered to greet her when they crossed paths. Aside from attending mandatory classes, he spent the entire day in the student dormitory studying diligently. His newfound determination gave off an impression of someone striving to catch up.
Returning to the structure of Mars Alliance School, there are three grades: junior, middle, and senior, each divided into primary, intermediate, and advanced classes. Correspondingly, the junior primary, intermediate, and advanced classes are equivalent to elementary school, middle school, and high school on Earth; the middle grades correspond to university; and the senior grades resemble graduate studies.
Don't think that this grading system at Mars School is a waste of time just because it takes about sixty years to complete. In reality, the curriculum is diverse and covers a wide range of knowledge. Unlike Earthlings, who start specializing in their fields at university due to cognitive limitations, Mars School does not have specialization divisions from elementary through university. All knowledge must be completed, and the cultural courses are designed based on each student's cognitive ability at different stages. For average students, as long as they put in some effort, there is little pressure. Students with lower cognitive abilities can still complete their studies through their own efforts and limited enhancements.
Mars Alliance School places great emphasis on cultivating students' cognitive abilities. For students with strong cognitive skills, they can skip grades; one can complete all courses from primary to advanced levels within a year and jump three grades at once. Therefore, students in classes often have varying ages; it’s not uncommon for someone aged 60 to still be in junior classes without facing ridicule. However, if by age 90 there is no improvement in learning progress, one would have to drop out. Such individuals find it quite difficult to secure jobs on Mars and may have to rely on family support for survival.
Once students reach senior grades, they begin to specialize in fields of their choice for further study.
Due to long-term training in the Golden Tower, Kairuot and Fairleya have both achieved a cognitive ability value of 90. This result stems from their dual cultivation within the Golden Tower; if they had practiced separately, it would take at least ten years for their cognitive ability values to rise from 40 to 90.
As their cognitive abilities increased, they gained stronger memory retention and faster learning capabilities. This allowed them to complete what would normally take five years of study from junior primary to advanced levels in just one year. Since the establishment of Mars Alliance School, aside from Kairuoka, they are the only ones who have progressed this quickly. Now, Kairuot and Fairleya are confidently preparing for their advancement into senior grades.
Since Feilbolai practiced in Elysian Spire, not only has his power increased significantly but his cognitive ability value has also reached 50. Consequently, studying for the junior grade courses has become much easier for him. After spending many years in the junior intermediate class, he is now determined to complete all courses in both junior intermediate and advanced classes and hopes to pass the exams all at once to enter middle grade studies.
One day, Fairleya and Kairuot finished their training at the Golden Tower. The girl couldn't help but ask the boy about his professional aspirations after leveling up: "Kairuot, what do you plan to study when you move up to middle school?"
"I haven't thought about it yet," Kairuot honestly replied; he was not someone who excelled at making plans.
"I've made up my mind," Fairleya said. "I want to study Wormhole Theory."
Kairuot thought for a moment and said, "If I had to decide right now, I would be more interested in Earth Science."
Fairleya responded, "That field is a bit too dull, and there's not much use for it after graduation."
Kairuot said, "Because I was born on Earth, I've always liked it. If I had to choose between Mars and Earth, I would lean towards developing on Earth."
Fairleya was surprised and said, "I didn't expect you to actually like that desolate place."
Kairuot seriously told her, "I've studied Earth in my spare time. It's a great place for us Martians to live. Its poles have huge energy fields that can provide us with ample energy to meet our future needs, and there’s..."
Fairleya interrupted him, saying, "What else? Kairuot, you need to think this through. If you choose Earth Science, you're completely out of the running! You'll only ever be a scholar; it would be such a waste of your talent."
Kairuot asked in confusion, "Isn't being a scholar bad?"
Fairleya candidly replied, "If you want to be a scholar, then don't choose to study at Mars Alliance School; you'll just waste your time and energy here. This school is a place for elites."
Kairuot smiled helplessly and asked, "So, what do you think I should choose as my major?"
Fairleya replied, "Interstellar Strategic Tactics."
Kairuot said, "Since it's Fei Leiya's suggestion, I will definitely consider it... However, this major is too broad and vast; I can't think of any interesting application scenarios."
Fairleya patiently explained, "With our Martians' abilities and intelligence, we should be leading the universe—Earth is merely our Experimental Base. You need to broaden your perspective. Once the Martians unify as one, Mars will need a leader who can guide everyone towards a broader interstellar exploration. I hope you can become such a leader."
Kairuot smiled helplessly once again, "I didn't expect your ambitions to be even greater than mine."
Fairleya asked, "Kairuot, with your talent, can you really bear to bury yourself?"
Kairuot replied with a smile, "Alright, alright. With Fei Leiya being so beautiful, everything you say must be right. If you marry me, wouldn't I be able to follow your lead without hesitation?"
"You unambitious guy, dreaming of me marrying you?!" Fairleya teased, pouting and running away.
