The annual Carnival is the most lively festival at Dragonfall Lodge, with every household decorated in vibrant colors. The Dragon Clan courtyard is located on the eastern side of Wolong Street, and two large dragon-shaped lanterns have been hung at the entrance, making it very eye-catching. In addition, colorful flags are placed on the rooftops and walls, and twinkling lights hang from the eaves of the main gate, creating a world filled with flags and lights amidst the bustling Wolong Street.
Kairuot initially wanted to go out with Long Er, but Belden insisted on coming along, leaving him with no choice. The three of them left the Dragon Clan courtyard and headed toward the center of the street.
It’s rare for Carnival, and the young women of Dragonfall Lodge are all dressed up beautifully, attracting the attention of young men who hope to find a suitable partner on this special day.
Beldan's outfit today is quite special; it’s her first time dressing like this—wearing a pink and white long dress adorned with dragon embroidery on the cuffs and hem. She has a wide purple belt cinching her waist and a semi-transparent silk long shirt over it, which accentuates her curvy figure. Her long black hair is styled into a hibiscus bun, with a dragon-shaped white jade hairpin inserted among her tresses. However, a delicate dagger inlaid with emeralds and carved with dragon patterns hanging from her waist does not match her overall look. Beldan's attire is very striking and attracts many young men’s attention; several bold suitors have approached her to visit her home, but she has turned them all down.
Kairuot could not resist Beldan's strong insistence and put on clothing marked with Dragonfall Lodge insignia. He wore an ice blue straight-collared robe with long sleeves, cinched at the waist with a wide belt featuring dragon and auspicious cloud patterns. He also carried the Dragon Slayer Dagger gifted by the Grandmaster. This was Kairuot's first time wearing such an outfit, and he felt quite uncomfortable in the loose-fitting clothes. However, his tall and sturdy figure, hidden alluring eyes, high nose bridge, and well-defined masculine face attracted many girls' gazes. If it weren't for Beldan standing beside him, Kairuot would have already been invited into other girls' homes.
Long Er still wore his usual simple children's attire. He was the happiest among the three. He ran around shouting for Belle to buy this and that; he had already bought so many toys that he could barely carry them all but still greedily shouted for more. Today Beldan was in a good mood with a handsome companion by her side; she felt delighted and was very willing to buy things for Long Er, almost responding generously to every request. Kairuot's feelings were mixed; he felt like he had spilled a bottle of mixed flavors—he didn’t dare speak to Beldan for fear she might do something radical that would embarrass him. Long Er was captivated by the array of goods displayed in shops along the street, so Kairuot followed them gloomily.
They arrived at the center of Wolong Street, which is the most prosperous area of Dragonfall Lodge. Various specialty snacks attracted passing customers, while shopkeepers shouted promotions from both sides of the street, creating a lively atmosphere. Since today is Carnival, the street was crowded with people eager to head to Central Square to watch today’s Carnival events.
They followed the crowd to Central Square.
The first performance in the square's Arena was by Bel Grandfather showcasing a set of Bel Long Fist. Despite being over 420 years old as Dragonfall Lodge's oldest elder, his long fist technique flowed seamlessly and left spectators in awe, earning him rounds of applause. After finishing his set without breaking a sweat or losing composure, he stood on stage addressing the audience: "Is there anyone who would like to spar with me?"
The audience exchanged glances; no one dared to step up to challenge him, so Great-Great-Grandfather had no choice but to give up. Next, a young man named Belqiang performed a knife technique; his blade whistled through the air with a chilling gleam as his superb skills garnered cheers from the audience.
Immediately after, various performers took turns showcasing different styles of martial arts in the lodge. However, no matter how much the performers on stage called out, the audience simply watched without engaging. This left Beldan, who was watching from below, feeling anxious; just watching the performances without any competition was not exciting at all. She regretted wearing this cumbersome outfit today, which prevented her from going on stage to compete.
At that moment, a very strong man stepped onto the stage. While he was considered strong compared to others at Dragonfall Lodge, he was still a head shorter than Kairuot. However, his arms and legs were incredibly thick and powerful, making him unmatched among the young people in Dragonfall Lodge. Upon seeing this man, Beldan felt a surge of anger, while Long Er shouted at him from the audience, "Bel Six, you big bad guy! Big bad guy!!"
On stage, Bel Six heard the voice and immediately turned his chubby face into a grin as he addressed Long Er below, saying, "Children shouldn't speak carelessly. You're ruining my reputation; it will be hard for me to find a girl in the future."
"You know very well whether you're a bad guy or not!" Beldan retorted defiantly.
"Beldan, don't say such harsh things. Sooner or later, you will be my wife. Speaking ill of me won't do you any good," Bel Six replied with a smile still plastered on his face.
Beldan was so furious that she wanted to rush up to teach him a lesson but was stopped by Kairuot, who said, "Don't be impulsive!"
"He once bullied Belle," Long Er informed Kairuot. "He forcibly occupied my sister's bridal chamber and tried to harass Belle, forcing her to marry him. Since Belle couldn't defeat him, she had to call Great-Great-Grandfather to drive him away. If it weren't for Great-Great-Grandfather's help, who knows what would have happened to Belle."
"Oh," Kairuot understood the situation and looked at Bel Six's smug expression. A desire to teach him a lesson began to rise within him as he said, "Let me take this one."
Without waiting for Bel Six to perform, Kairuot handed over the items Long Er had bought along the way to Beldan. Then he rolled up his sleeves and jumped onto the stage. Seeing a taller young man he had never seen before step up, Bel Six felt uneasy and quickly asked, "Who are you?"
From below, Beldan shouted loudly in advance, "He is my husband! He is here to teach you a lesson!!"
Bel Six snorted through his nose and said, "Kid, it's not worth losing your life for a beauty."
Kairuot ignored him and simply gestured with his hand towards Bel Six, indicating that if he had the guts, he should come over.
Bel Six was not polite at all. Despite his chubby appearance, he was faster than expected. Taking advantage of Kairuot's momentary distraction, he quickly grabbed Kairuot and lifted him high. The crowd watched in suspense as Kairuot was thrown into the air with Bel Six's shout of "Die!"
However, a miracle did not occur. At the moment of being thrown, Kairuot performed a flip and landed firmly on the stage, surprising Bel Six. He had already sensed his opponent's strength but decided to take the initiative. He threw a punch aimed at Kairuot's head. Kairuot deftly dodged and executed a Grappling Technique, seizing Bel Six's wrist. But with his great strength, Bel Six countered by grabbing back, attempting to use his momentum to throw Kairuot off. Unexpectedly, Kairuot seized the opportunity and kicked him in the groin, sending Bel Six several meters away, causing him to cry out in pain.
This Bel Six was no pushover; he used his cries to confuse his opponent and quickly unleashed a series of rapid punches, each targeting Kairuot's vital points. Anticipating this, Kairuot easily countered every move. The force behind Bel Six's punches created a gust of wind, making it difficult for an average person to withstand. His large feet stomped heavily on the Arena, causing it to shake with each step, instilling fear in the audience below.
The two exchanged blows for dozens of rounds. Perhaps wanting to end the match quickly, when they both stood ready for the next round, Kairuot lightly pointed his finger, and a flash of light shot towards Bel Six's thigh, instantly knocking him down.
Thinking that he had taught Bel Six a lesson and that there was no need to continue fighting, Kairuot turned to face the audience. However, Bel Six, unwilling to concede defeat, gathered all his strength, pushed off with his legs, and launched a surprise attack from behind with a move called "Tiger Pouncing on Heart." Sensing the ambush, Kairuot leaped into the air and descended from above with a palm strike aimed at Bel Six's back.
Seeing Kairuot's fierce palm technique, Belzun the Elder recklessly jumped in front of Bel Six, using both palms to intercept Kairuot's Thunder Palm. Realizing this, Kairuot quickly retracted his hand, but it was too late; his palm collided with Belzun's, creating a thunderous sound that seemed to shake the entire Arena. Lying on the ground, Bel Six thought he had been hit and cried out in panic. Had it not been for Belzun the Elder's intervention, Bel Six would have surely been knocked down completely.
Understanding that his opponent was formidable, Bel Six fled without acknowledging the audience.
Looking at Bel Six’s retreating figure, Belzun the Elder said to Kairuot: "Young man, one should spare others when possible. This place is filled with hidden talents; the world can be treacherous. Don't let your pride lead you into trouble."
The thunderous strike from earlier showcased Kairuot’s impressive skills, leaving no one daring enough to step up for a performance in the arena.
To avoid an awkward silence, a song and dance performance began on stage.
Having lost interest in the performance and feeling somewhat hungry amidst the crowd, Beldan suggested going for dumplings: "Let's go to the Fennel Dumpling Shop. It's a famous local delicacy!"
