After three days and nights of arduous travel, they finally arrived at the edge of Loulan Ancient City.
Belt pointed to the remnants of the wall, eroded by the wind, and said, "This is what you are looking for—Loulan Ancient City."
Kairuot looked at the ruins and said, "I didn't expect Loulan Ancient City to look like this. Let's go inside and take a look."
They crossed over the remaining city wall and ventured in, discovering numerous residential courtyards, earthen buildings, wooden houses, pagodas, shops, and more, yet there was not a soul in sight.
Belt felt puzzled and said, "I've been here twice before, but this is the first time I've seen so many buildings in Loulan Ancient City."
Kairuot replied, "Perhaps these buildings were uncovered by a sandstorm yesterday." As they spoke, suddenly Giant Dragon Osei appeared, spraying water from above to block their path. The giant dragon had finally caught up with the group and seemed to want to warn them about something.
Li Girl looked at Osei disappearing into the sky and shouted angrily, "Osei, are you crazy? Spraying water at us..."
Before Li Girl could finish her rant, the ground ahead of them suddenly collapsed with a loud crash, revealing a massive pit. As they approached, they saw it was filled with sharpened wooden stakes. Someone had already set a trap waiting for their arrival.
"This is Bel Six's trap," Li Girl said confidently. "We need to be on guard against him."
Kairuot alerted everyone, saying, "Bel Six wants to stop us from moving forward. The more he does this, the more it proves he has something to hide in his ancient tomb. Everyone prepare for battle; the further we go, the more dangerous it becomes."
They had barely taken a few steps forward when several cold arrows shot toward them. Kairuot caught each one effortlessly without a scratch. It seemed that their opponents were too intimidated by Kairuot's reputation to confront them directly and were instead shooting arrows from the shadows.
However, Kairuot knew that dragging this out would not be beneficial for them. Therefore, he unleashed his powerful Lightness Skill, leaping into the air and spotting the bandits hiding among the ruins clearly. With a swift strike of his palm, he sent the hidden bandits fleeing in panic. After a flurry of attacks, he drove away all the pests; it seemed they would no longer dare to disturb them openly after this encounter.
Kairuot had a feeling that the lair of the Bandit was nearby. They soon found themselves in front of an abandoned Pagoda. This Pagoda had been mostly buried by sand, with only the upper half of the Tower Spitze remaining visible, and the main entrance had long been buried in the sand, making it impossible to find a way into the Pagoda.
They circled around the Pagoda several times but found no entrance.
Kairuot thought to himself: "Could my intuition be wrong? My Sixth Sense has never been wrong before. The entrance to the Loulan Ancient Tomb should be nearby..."
He then said to everyone, "I feel that there is an entrance to the Loulan Ancient Tomb around here. Let's split up and search carefully for any suspicious signs."
Belt also began searching. He stopped at a small window of the Pagoda, crouched down, and examined a half-buried dead tree in front of him.
Noticing his strange expression, Kairuot walked over and asked, "What did you find?"
"I have a feeling that these dead branches wouldn't just be piled up here for no reason," Belt said, pointing at a large pile of dead branches in front of the Pagoda window. "It seems like it was done intentionally."
Kairuot dug through the yellow sand with effort and moved away the dead branches blocking the window of the Pagoda. A hole appeared before him. He exclaimed, "Sure enough, there is an entrance here."
Li Girl and Bel Purewood rushed over upon hearing this. When Li Girl saw the hole, she wanted to be the first to enter. The hole was small enough for only one person to go down at a time, and Li Girl slid down as if on a slide. Below the Pagoda, there was a large space—a vast Temple, illuminated only by a few beams of sunlight streaming through the small windows of the Tower Spitze, making it seem very dark.
Kairuot, Belt, and Bel Purewood followed her down. They walked deeper into the Temple together.
This Temple appeared to be quite old. The wooden pillars inside had deteriorated over time, with some peeling away, giving it a very worn look. As they ventured further in, they saw several massive and solemn Stone Buddha Statues standing on either side of the Temple. Belt informed them, "This used to be a place of worship for the people of Loulan. Legend has it that during Loulan's heyday, this place was bustling with incense offerings and worshippers. Who would have thought that in just a few decades, it would fall into such ruin?"
As he silently recited prayers in front of the Stone Buddha Statues, he knelt down with his hands pressed together, bowing in reverence.
Li Girl approached and asked impatiently, "Uncle Belt, you're a Martians, why are you kneeling before the gods of Earth?"
Belt replied, "I don't care who I am; when I see a god, I must kneel. This is a belief in my heart, do you understand?"
Li Girl asked, "I'm also a god from the heavens, will you worship me?"
Belt told her, "As long as your statue is there, I will worship you too."
Kairuot interrupted their conversation, "Stop talking about gods and Buddhas; hurry up and carefully search for the mechanism to enter the Loulan Ancient Tomb."
As soon as they mentioned looking for the door mechanism, Belt quickly found a hidden switch to open the ancient tomb door next to the most prominent Stone Buddha Statues. He immediately turned the switch, and with a heavy creaking sound, the stone door behind the stone Buddha facing the entrance slowly opened.
