The sky darkened, and Kairuot and his companions settled into a Taiji Inn under Belt's guidance. The inn was located in the bustling area of Eastern Market. After finishing dinner and having some leisure time, they decided to explore the night market together.
As the lights began to glow, the streets were much livelier than during the day. They wandered through several jewelry stores, but the dazzling array of goods failed to attract these foreign tourists; to Kairuot, these items seemed a bit too gaudy.
Soon, they passed by a famous establishment in Eastern Market known as Fragrant Pavilion, a brothel with young women dressed flamboyantly outside trying to attract customers. Kairuot was indeed stopped by one of the girls soliciting business, who insisted he come inside to have some fun.
Li Girl watched curiously, unsure of what went on inside a brothel, and chimed in, "What's wrong with going in for some fun? Just go in and have fun." As she spoke, she tugged on Kairuot's arm, trying to pull him inside.
The madam of the brothel, though unable to understand Li Girl's words, was surprised by her openness and couldn't help but say, "Oh my, I didn't expect this! Foreigners are indeed different; this young lady is so open-minded. We welcome you at Fragrant Pavilion!"
Belt quickly stepped forward and said, "No, no! This is a brothel; young ladies cannot just go in."
Li Girl turned around curiously and asked, "Why not?"
Belt found it difficult to answer. At that moment, Bel Purewood came over and without saying a word grabbed both Li Girl's and Kairuot's arms and forcefully pulled them away. People soon noticed this giant who had come along with them; no one dared to stop the tall and powerful figure, so they let them leave.
As they walked away, Li Girl complained, "What's wrong with just taking a look? If they run a business, I can pay for it."
Belt appeared helpless and embarrassed, saying only, "That place is specifically for providing services to men; women cannot enter..." As for why women couldn't go in, Belt found it inconvenient to explain further.
Afterward, the group arrived at the most famous street for snacks in Chang'an City. This street was filled with renowned Tang Dynasty delicacies, with shops and stalls densely packed together, dazzling visitors.
When it came to food lovers, Li Girl was undoubtedly at the forefront. Seeing the scene before her made her eyes light up with joy. Belt was also a foodie; wherever there was good food, he couldn't resist visiting. He had been to Chang'an many times but felt particularly attached to this food street in Eastern Market. In this regard, he found common ground with Li Girl.
Belt told Li Girl: "Tang people love food; the most famous dishes on this food street are Xiao Family's wontons, Geng Family's rice dumplings, Cherry Bibimbap, and Roasted Camel Hump."
Li Girl asked, "Have you tried them all? Are they delicious?"
"Of course I've had it," Belt said, drooling at the thought. "Once you eat it, you'll want more. Just talking about the Xiao Family's wontons, they're delicious, and their broth is rich without being greasy. You can even use the broth to brew tea."
As they arrived at the Xiao Family Wontons snack shop and sat down, the place was small but packed with diners. Soon, each person was served a bowl of wontons. Li Girl looked at the wontons in front of her and said, "Isn't this just like the dumplings from my hometown boiled in water?"
"You'll feel the difference once you try it," Belt told her. "Dumplings are dumplings, and wontons are wontons."
Kairuot took a bite of the wonton and said, "Not bad; the flavor is quite unique."
Li Girl took a bite and immediately exaggerated her expression, saying, "This is so delicious! It's a thousand times better than food on Mars!"
Kairuot glanced at her helplessly and said, "It's not that exaggerated, is it?"
Li Girl replied, "Where's the exaggeration? What food on Mars has made you forget everything? None. The food on Mars only focuses on nutrition, combining many things into a product to fill your stomach without considering taste. They don't call it food; they call it... longevity supplements."
Even though they had all eaten dinner, soon each person's bowl of wontons was finished in no time. Li Girl wanted another bowl but was stopped by Belt. He told Lily, "There are plenty of delicious things on this street; you'll be too full to walk soon."
They tasted something called Lianzhengzhacaozhangpisi Bing at Han Yue Bakery, which was a type of baked bun filled with venison. There are no such animals on Mars, and Martians had a different experience eating it; the flavor was indescribable.
After those two dishes, everyone felt quite full, yet Belt took them to Geng Family Zongzi Shop. The glistening white zongzi was something they had never tried before, and each person had one, feeling stuffed afterward.
Belt mentioned that there were still many tasty snacks left to try, like the Roasted Camel Hump meat from the barbecue shop up ahead, but everyone waved their hands in refusal. They decided to wait until tomorrow when they wouldn't have dinner and come back specifically for street food.
Though they couldn't eat anymore, they could still stroll around to help digest all the food they had consumed.
They wandered to an intersection and found many people gathered around a yellow notice with soldiers armed with swords standing on either side. They joined the crowd; since it was written in Earth's two-dimensional script, only Belt could understand it while the other three stood there as if reading a foreign language.
When Belt finally made his way to the front to read it, Li Girl anxiously asked, "What does that yellow paper say?"
Belt smiled awkwardly and told her, "That's the Imperial Edict for finding someone."
"Finding someone?" Lily asked in confusion, "What person does the Emperor want to find?"
Belt hesitated for a moment and then said, "They are looking for Kairuot."
Li Girl didn't understand, "Huh? ... Why are they looking for him?"
Belt explained, "He is the one who saved the princess from the carriage that day, so the Emperor wants to find him. Perhaps he wants to reward him?"
Li Girl pouted and said defiantly, "We also participated in the battle. Why aren't we called? It's so unfair!"
"The Imperial Edict doesn't mention it..." Belt said, "It seems the Emperor only wants Kairuot to go."
Kairuot interjected, "Don't worry, I won't leave you behind. If I'm going, we'll all go together."
Upon hearing this, Li Girl became excited and urged, "Let's quickly go reveal the Imperial Edict before the Emperor suddenly changes his mind!"
Kairuot smiled helplessly and said, "It's already so late; even if we wanted to enter the palace, we couldn't. Let's talk about it tomorrow. For now, let's return to the inn and rest. Tomorrow, we will all enter the palace together."
Listening to this made Li Girl jump up happily, and the others nodded in agreement. They quickly turned back to the inn and fell asleep waiting for dawn.
