When Kairuot finally realized what had happened, he showed an awkward expression... He knew in his heart that this was a scheme between Belden and Li Girl, but he couldn't expose them and could only respond to the situation as it developed.
The bouquet had already been claimed, and the people waiting to catch it gradually dispersed. Kairuot was called to Li Girl's home, where the elderly Couple sat in the chairs of the hall. Belron smiled broadly and told him, "You are lucky, young man. Heaven has bestowed our daughter upon you, and we have nothing to say. From today on, we are family. You must treat our daughter well; she is our precious darling, so don't bully her. Once we finish renovating the little courtyard in Qingqiu, we will hold your wedding."
Kairuot desperately tried to decline this marriage, saying he never intended to catch the bouquet and that it hit him by accident. He asked if Lily could throw the bouquet again for a chance to choose another suitor, but the elderly couple firmly rejected this idea.
Kairuot further insisted that he was already married to Beldan. Although Martian marriage laws allowed for polygamy, parental consent was still required. The elderly couple disagreed even more; Belron told Kairuot, "You married Belden without your parents' consent. Moreover, we are here on Penglai Immortal Island, far from Mars. By the time you get your parents' approval and return, it will be too late. We have no objections as long as our daughter is willing to marry you."
Li Girl gave Kairuot no room to back out, openly expressing her willingness to marry him. She feared that Kairuot might change his mind and added, "What are you afraid of? On Penglai Immortal Island, you're not the only one with polygamous arrangements. This custom from Dragonfall Lodge has spread to Earth, where many families have multiple wives. Those emperors and kings have thousands of beauties in their harem."
Faced with the reality of being hit by the bouquet, Kairuot realized this was an unavoidable wedding.
-
Their wedding preparations quickly began. The couple's new home would be a small courtyard on Qingqiu Island, built years ago by Bel Grandfather. It was part of the leisure resort in Qingqiu, which had remained unoccupied for years and was perfect for their wedding residence.
Since the small courtyard had been vacant for many years, it needed painting and renovation. Taking this opportunity, Li Girl took Kairuot to visit the little princess on Qingqiu Island, while also checking on how their wedding house was being arranged.
Walking on clouds, Li Girl and Kairuot arrived at the little princess's residence, Qingqiu Pavilion, in less than an hour. Located at the peak of a mountain on Qingqiu Island, Qingqiu Pavilion was the tallest building in Qingqiu. From afar, white mist swirled around the pavilion. It was peach blossom season, with blooming peach trees covering the entire island in shades of pink, making it look like red clouds lifting up the pavilion in the sky.
As they approached Qingqiu Pavilion, they saw this ancient four-story building with its upturned eaves and glazed tiles adorned with mythical beasts. The columns were intricately carved with dragons and colorful paintings, exuding grandeur. It was said that this was once home to Bel Grandfather, who moved to the bustling area of Dragon Clan on Penglai Immortal Island due to loneliness after living here for a long time without company. The pavilion had been empty for quite some time until the little princess arrived, bringing some life back to it; however, it still felt desolate with only four residents: the little princess and three maids.
The little princess's room was on the second floor, with two maids residing in adjacent rooms on either side of her. Upon seeing Kairuot, she joyfully rushed over with tears in her eyes: "I thought Father didn't want me anymore since he hasn't come to see me for so long."
Kairuot comforted her: "Father has been busy; I will come to see you every day from now on." He then handed her a bag of snacks he had brought along. "Look, Father brought you some treats."
The little princess looked at the bag but called one of her maids to take it away; she wasn't interested in these snacks since they had plenty of food prepared by their great-great-grandfather. She pouted and said, "Father, you don't keep your promises; you're always lying."
"When have I ever lied to you?"
"You think about me every day," interjected Li Girl, "but he's just too busy; it's not entirely his fault."
"Auntie is better," said the little princess sweetly. "She came to see me again."
The little princess went up to hug Li Girl. "Auntie," she said, clearly delighted, as she took out a handkerchief to wipe the little princess's tears and asked her, "Are you doing well here?"
"Not well!" the little princess replied honestly.
"Why?" Li Girl asked.
"No one plays with me." Before the adults could respond, she continued, "There have been ghosts in the attic at night, and it's really scary."
"Ghosts?" Kairuot was skeptical. "There are no such things as ghosts in this world; it's all just nonsense made up by Earthlings."
"There really are ghosts! If you don't believe me, you can ask them." The little princess pointed at the Maid standing nearby.
The Maid then confirmed for them: there had been ghostly disturbances in Qingqiu Pavilion at night these past few days, scaring them so much that they didn't dare to come out.
Kairuot and Li Girl found it amusing and decided not to leave that night; they wanted to see what this ghost was all about in Qingqiu Pavilion.
At that moment, coincidentally, Fairleya also arrived at Qingqiu Pavilion. She had come to discuss matters with Kairuot but seeing Li Girl nearby, she quickly changed her story and said she was there to see the peach blossoms on Qingqiu Island. After hearing about the ghost-catching plan for the night, her interest was piqued, and she decided to join them.
As night fell, Li Girl and Fairleya hid in their respective rooms, peering through small holes in the windows to watch for any movements outside. Kairuot leaped onto the beams of the house, waiting for the ghost to appear.
They had been waiting for most of the night when the supposed ghost had yet to show up. Just as they were about to give up, a shadow finally flickered into view—perhaps the ghost had arrived...
Kairuot could see clearly from the beams that it was a person dressed in loose Penglai Tang-style clothing, sneaking around and looking uncertain about their intentions.
Suddenly, Kairuot jumped down from the beams and blocked the person's path, shouting, "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
The person did not respond but turned and ran. Kairuot quickly chased after them. The two young women inside heard the commotion and opened their doors to join in the pursuit.
The person ran swiftly, jumping directly down from the second floor's beauty couch with remarkable Lightness Skill. To prevent their escape, Kairuot shot a laser pointer at them, hitting their shoulder and slowing them down until they fell to the ground. Li Girl, Fairleya, and Kairuot had already surrounded them in an open space in front of the attic.
The person wore a skull mask and stood in the center of the lawn. Kairuot had blocked off their escape route; behind them were two others who also cut off their retreat. The Skeleton Masked individual had no choice but to charge forward desperately. They unleashed a series of rapid punches; however, due to their injured right shoulder, their strength was diminished. After Kairuot dodged their attack and prepared to counterattack, the opponent launched a fierce series of low kicks that forced Kairuot to evade again.
Fairleya suddenly asked, "Who are you, and how can you use Fair-Style Sweeping Leg?"
Upon hearing Fairleya's voice, the Skeleton Masked Man stopped fighting, turned to look at Fairleya for a moment, then removed his mask and said, "Sister Laya, it's me."
"Fei Lai Ao!" Fairleya recognized him as well. "He is my cousin, the son of my father's younger brother. How did you end up on Penglai Immortal Island?"
Fei Lai Ao sighed and said, "Sigh! It's a long story!"
-
After the commotion settled down, Fei Lai Ao sat down and told them he hadn't eaten for several days.
Fairleya quickly instructed the Maid to prepare a lot of food for him, allowing him to enjoy a hearty meal. While they ate together, they asked him questions and learned that he was sent by Belche to gather intelligence on Penglai Immortal Island.
Fei Lai Ao explained, "After I entered Penglai Immortal Island, I got stranded on a deserted island for several years without a way out. Because the people of Penglai wanted to develop the deserted island, I couldn't hide anymore and took the chance to escape to Qingqiu Island. My original clothes were already tattered, so I had no choice but to steal a set of clothes from a family's drying rack and started looking for food around the island. I searched through Qingqiu Pavilion for two days without finding any food until I ran into you on the third day."
Li Girl said, "You are actually a spy sent by Belche! Then, after dawn, we will take you to Great-Great-Grandfather, and he will decide your fate."
"I won't be imprisoned, will I?" Fei Lai Ao felt a bit scared. "I haven't done anything wrong since coming to Penglai Immortal Island!"
"Don't worry," Fairleya reassured him. "I will speak on your behalf... I believe my brother is an upright person, and Great-Great-Grandfather is a fair and good man; he won't harm you."
