After returning from the base, Qingqiu's courtyard was finally renovated. The courtyard was adorned with festive decorations, bustling with joy as the wedding of Li Girl and Kairuot took place as scheduled, attracting many guests to offer their congratulations.
The newlyweds entertained guests for three days, and finally, the wedding came to an end. That night, Kairuot and Li Girl sat quietly together in their new home, the atmosphere a bit awkward... Kairuot knew that his marriage to Belden was due to circumstances and included a sense of gratitude. However, he had always viewed Li Girl as a little sister—suddenly becoming her husband due to an unexpected turn of events felt absurd to him.
Kairuot had already decided that he would escape this troublesome place immediately after the wedding, so he needed to find a reason to slip away tonight.
However, at that moment, Li Girl had cast aside her shyness and looked at Kairuot with deep affection, beckoning him to sit beside her on the bed.
Kairuot jumped up and grabbed a beautifully packaged bottle of Fruit Wine from a box piled next to the round table, inviting her to sit at the table and taste the wine.
This was the finest Fruit Wine sent by Great-Great-Grandfather from Penglai Immortal Island. As Kairuot opened the bottle, a strong aroma of wine wafted through the air—“Good wine!” he praised, filling two glasses on the table.
Seeing him in high spirits, Li Girl came over to drink with him. However, after taking a sip, Kairuot stopped her: “Don’t drink! I tasted it and found it a bit strange; this wine seems problematic… it might be poisonous!”
Li Girl tilted her head dismissively: “What’s there to fear? I’ve been poisoned since childhood by eating Kiwi; I’m immune to all poisons now! Even if it’s toxic, I’m not afraid!” With that, she tilted her head back and took another sip of Fruit Wine.
Kairuot couldn’t help but laugh at her carefree attitude and then made a ridiculous suggestion: “Since you’re not afraid, then I’m even less afraid! Let’s have a drinking contest and see who can drink more and expel more poison.”
“Sure, but what happens if you lose?” Li Girl asked.
“If I lose, I’ll be punished by drinking more,” Kairuot replied.
“No way!” Li Girl blushed, her eyes fixed on Kairuot in such a way that he couldn’t meet her gaze. “If you lose, we should go to bed early. I’m your wife now; every moment together is precious. We can’t just drink all night.”
Kairuot smiled awkwardly, thinking that he absolutely couldn’t lose to this little girl...
---
A drinking contest began—
Kairuot clearly underestimated Li Girl’s capacity for alcohol. Since childhood, she had been training in martial arts and drinking; her family treated her like a boy. She had even won championships in drinking contests at Dragonfall Lodge.
Li Girl confidently raised her glass to toast with Kairuot: “Competing with me in drinking? You might as well surrender now, my husband!”
“Who will win is still uncertain,” Kairuot retorted without backing down. “We’ll find out when we drink!” With that, they clinked glasses and downed their drinks—Kairuot wouldn’t suggest a contest without confidence. Although his alcohol tolerance was average, he could use his internal energy to force all the alcohol he consumed out through his fingertips in time, meaning that the toxic wine never truly passed through his digestive system.
Li Girl was also able to force the poisonous wine from her stomach to her fingertips through internal energy, but it had to be done slowly, as some of the wine would inevitably be absorbed into her body.
The two of them were competing, taking turns drinking. They had several large bowls of the poisonous wine they expelled from their bodies placed on the table. Kairuot had five full bowls, while Lily only had four and a half. Judging by the color of the wine in the bowls, Li Girl's poisonous wine was darker.
Li Girl was not satisfied and said, “Kairuot brother, you cheated.”
Kairuot asked in confusion, “How did I cheat?”
Li Girl, appearing slightly tipsy, pointed at the wine in his bowl and said, “Look at the color of the wine in my bowl; it's much darker than yours. Mine is deep purple, while yours is much lighter. You're afraid you can't beat me, so you deliberately cheated by adding some water from your body.”
Kairuot explained, “I couldn't have cheated. We've already drunk over ten bottles of wine. Even if we poured all the wine back into the bowls, it wouldn't return to its original state, proving that some of the wine has already been absorbed into your body.”
“Cheers!!” Lily raised her glass again to clink with Kairuot. Just as they were about to finish their drinks, someone rushed in from outside and shouted:
“Don't drink! The wine is poisoned!!”
“Belle, you should have come earlier. We're having a competition to see who can win,” said Li Girl, tilting her head back to pour the wine into her mouth.
Seeing this, Belden stepped forward and snatched Li Girl's glass away, smashing it on the ground. “I told you it's poisoned! Are you trying to get yourselves killed?”
Li Girl laughed and pointed at Kairuot, saying, “He—lost. He cheated!”
At this moment, Belden looked down at the round table filled with bowls of purple poisonous wine and asked, “What's going on here?”
“We're having a drinking detox competition,” Kairuot replied.
“You two are really something else; on your wedding day, you're having a drinking detox competition. If this gets out, it will be a tale for the ages.”
Li Girl tried to grab Kairuot's untouched glass of wine again but was stopped by Belden, who scolded her fiercely. “Are you trying to get yourself killed? I've already told you it's poisoned; why won't you listen...”
“How do you know this wine is poisoned?” Kairuot asked.
“Great-Great-Grandfather told me. The servant mixed up the wine meant for you and told me to hurry over to stop you from drinking it. The kind of wine you're consuming causes memory loss and severely damages the brain. You scared me just now; I thought you two were poisoned! Luckily your skills allowed you to expel the poison.” She noticed that out of a box of twelve bottles of wine, only one remained. “You really can drink.”
“So? Do you want to join?” Kairuot asked.
"I have another piece of good news to tell you all," Belden said, waving his hand.
"What good news?" Li Girl asked curiously.
Belden informed them, "Sister Laya is about to give birth."
Kairuot felt confused by Belden's words. "Give birth to what?"
"You’re still in the dark... Didn’t she tell you?"
"What did she tell me?" Kairuot replied, looking bewildered.
"She came to Earth and stayed on Penglai Immortal Island just to have a baby... You careless father, you didn't even know such a big thing?" Belden scolded. "And you say you love her; is this how you show your love?"
"What... Where is she now?" Kairuot suddenly stood up.
"At the Penglai Medical Pavilion, with doctors taking care of her."
"Let's go, we need to hurry!" Kairuot said anxiously, grabbing Belden's hand and rushing toward the door.
Li Girl quickly caught up from behind, shouting, "I want to go too, wait for me!"
