Kairuoka had been thinking all the way back to the residence that the first thing he would do upon arrival was to transfer the Second Army Group to the First Army Group. However, as soon as he stepped through the gates of the Leader's Residence, he saw his brother Kailong already waiting for him in the main hall.
Seeing his brother greet him with a smile, Kairuoka cautiously asked, "What are you doing here?"
Kailong replied with a forced smile, "I missed you, so I came to see you."
At that moment, the servant Kairou Marie brought Fruit Tea to the tea table in front of Kairuoka's seat. Just then feeling thirsty, Kairuoka picked up the teacup and drank it all in one go. He did not realize that the tea he just drank was laced with deadly poison. Despite his strong internal energy, this poison was specially formulated for him, making it difficult to expel from his body for a while.
Noticing that his brother had not spoken for a while, Kailong's expression grew increasingly grim. He smirked and asked, "Brother, what's wrong with you?"
By this time, Kairuoka was already feeling the effects of the poison and could not speak. Kailong then walked behind Kairuoka and gathered strength to deliver a heavy palm strike to his back, instantly knocking Kairuoka to the ground, causing him to spit out blood.
Kairuoka lay on the ground, turned sideways to look at Kailong, and managed to utter a single word: "You..."
"Brother, you can't blame me; you forced my hand," Kailong said assertively. "This position of leader was originally mine. You usurped my place. I have endured all these years just for today when I can take back control."
Kairuoka was too weak to speak but glared at his brother with anger in his eyes.
Kailong approached him and said, "Although your martial arts are impressive and I cannot defeat you in combat, your intelligence is truly concerning. I believe I still outsmart you. You lost because of your overconfidence; you underestimated others due to your high martial skills. Otherwise, you wouldn't be defeated by me today."
Kairuoka closed his eyes and began silently channeling his energy. Kailong noticed and said, "Don't bother; it's useless no matter how much you try."
As he spoke, Kailong pressed his palm against Kairuoka's head and coldly said, "Brother, today I will place your soul in a place of eternal silence so that you will no longer have any improper thoughts."
As Kailong began to channel his energy, he aimed to absorb Kairuoka's soul into his body, hoping that his powerful internal force would permanently consume his brother's spirit. However, he never anticipated that his brother's soul was protected by an energy even stronger than his own internal power; no matter how hard he tried, he could not draw the soul away.
The two powerful forces clashed against each other, and Kairuoka's head began to smoke. Kailong thought that his brother's soul was unable to withstand the pressure and continued to increase his power, determined not to stop until he had extracted his brother's soul. Suddenly, Kairuoka's head exploded, and a flash of light darted away into the air. This surge of energy caused Kailong's palm to be mangled and bloodied, leaving him without fingers.
Kailong secretly rejoiced: "My God, this energy is too powerful! If it really entered my body, it could have blown me to pieces."
Kailong realized that his brother's soul had already left his body and was lost to him forever. Looking at his deceased brother, Kailong shouted that someone had attacked Chief Kairuoka, claiming that the chief had been killed in the explosion. All the soldiers at Leader's Residence began searching for the assassin but found nothing. At the same time, he ordered preparations for the Funeral Hall, announcing that Kairuoka was dead and making arrangements for a grand burial.
Kailong's actions were witnessed clearly by Kairou Marie, who was hiding behind a pillar in the great hall. Terrified, she dared not make a sound and hurried back to her room, locking the door and remaining alone all day in silence.
The death of Kairuoka left Fair Connie heartbroken. She knew that with Kairuoka's skills, he would not easily fall victim to assassination; there was something suspicious about his death. She immediately went to Mars Base to share her suspicions with her son, Kairuot. The news of his father's death devastated Kairuot, who refused to believe it was true. He knew well that his father would not be easily murdered and told his mother, "As long as we find my father's soul, everything will become clear."
Fair Connie agreed wholeheartedly with her son's thoughts: "Perfect timing; the Leader's Residence has set up the Funeral Hall. Let's go pay our respects and see if your father's soul still lingers in his body. If it does, we can take action."
They arrived at the great hall of Chief Kairo, where they found their adoptive mother Kai Ruo Yu Qi standing by Kairuoka's coffin alongside two brothers, visibly grieving. Kai Ruo Yu Qi was not surprised by Fair Connie's arrival; she nodded slightly at her and said, "Thank you for coming to see him."
Concealing her sorrow, Fair Connie feigned calmness as she spoke comforting words to Kai Ruo Yu Qi. Then she approached Kairuoka's coffin and attempted a soul-calling technique to awaken Kairuoka's spirit. However, it was all in vain; there was no trace of Kairuoka's soul left in the body. She had no choice but to politely exit the Funeral Hall.
After escorting her mother partway, Kairuot did not immediately return to Mars Base. He intended to keep vigil for his father and remained unaware that he was already in danger...
Kailong had already taken control of the entire Kairo Mansion. While Fair Connie and Kairuot were entering the Kairo Hall Funeral Hall to pay their respects, he sat in front of the video surveillance screen. At that moment, he really wanted to order his soldiers to capture the mother and son, but their abilities were too strong, so he could only rely on cunning. Kailong temporarily dismissed his impulsive thoughts and hid in the shadows, waiting for the right opportunity.
As soon as Fair Connie left, he immediately appeared in the Funeral Hall, looking very sorrowful, and said to Kairuot: “Your father's death is a great loss to our Kairo Tribe. I must find a way to capture the murderer and avenge your father.”
Kairuot observed his uncle's performance but did not express much; he merely responded with noncommittal sounds.
Fair Connie had warned him multiple times to be cautious around his uncle, and he kept that in mind.
Seeing that his nephew was indifferent to him, Kailong felt uneasy: [Could he have discovered my intentions? Then I must act first to avoid future troubles.]
With this thought in mind, he said to Kairuot: “It has been a long time since we last talked. Shall we find a place to chat?”
Kairuot, unsure of his uncle's motives but curious to find out, nodded in agreement.
Kailong felt secretly pleased and led Kairuot to a room on the side of the hall. Kairuot noticed that this room was significantly smaller than the others; despite living in Kairo Mansion for many years, he had never been in this room before. He wondered when his uncle had added such a room to the Leader's Residence.
Suddenly, an officer walked into the room and said to Kailong: “There is someone in the hall urgently looking for you…”
Before the officer could finish speaking, Kailong hurriedly pulled him out of the room. Sensing something was off, Kairuot went to open the door, only to find that it was specially designed and could not be opened at all.
