Sitting in the car, Bai Yujing opened the book he had just obtained. As soon as Bai Yujing saw the text on it, he recognized it; this should be the Lilliputian Language, which was very similar to the writing he had seen on the small backpack earlier. It seemed that there was a significant connection between this area and Lilliput.
This book definitely did not belong to a Leprechaun, which indicated that it was likely written by a human who understood the Lilliputian Language. As Bai Yujing flipped through the pages, he heard a chime sound. "Lilliputian Language book discovered. The system has automatically acquired the Lilliputian Language for the store. Reward: 10 points. Players can exchange this language at half price in the store."
Bai Yujing did not expect such good fortune. It seemed to be a reward from the Exotic Creature Hunter System for improving the store. Bai Yujing opened the store again and found the Lilliputian Language, but this time there were no missing annotations. The original price was 10 points, and now it only required 5 points for exchange. After some thought, he decided to exchange it since he still needed to translate the book in hand, and relying on the translation system would take an unknown amount of effort.
Additionally, Bai Yujing considered that if he encountered a Leprechaun who understood the Lilliputian Language, communication would be much easier between them. This would greatly aid in completing two side quests: having a friendly conversation with a Leprechaun and exchanging information, as well as finding the legendary address of the Little People Kingdom.
Having gained 10 points and spent 5 points, along with his remaining 25 points, Bai Yujing now had a total of 30 points, returning to his original point total. Acquiring language skills was similar to mastering English before; a vast amount of knowledge surged into his mind, imprinted like a forced command. Initially, using it felt somewhat awkward, but everything was stored in his mind, and becoming proficient was just a matter of time.
"What are you looking at?" Emma leaned over curiously to see what Bai Yujing was holding—a handwritten book filled with a jumble of strange symbols covering every page, arranged very neatly. It looked like some kind of writing and even had punctuation marks, but its meaning was completely incomprehensible.
Emma asked, "What is this? A magic book?"
Bai Yujing mysteriously shook his head. "Do you remember the writing on that small backpack we found before? I once told you that its meaning is 'Alice'; she should be a Leprechaun girl."
Emma immediately recalled and looked at the text in the book, her mouth agape. "Could this be Leprechaun writing?"
Bai Yujing nodded. "It should be so, but I haven't figured out who left this behind. It looks like an ancient manuscript."
Emma's curiosity was piqued. "Can you read what’s written in it?"
Bai Yujing replied, "Of course! Let's share this discovery together."
The two parked the car aside and nestled together as Bai Yujing began to read from the book slowly: "I don't know if I should record this matter; perhaps it should remain buried in history forever. I once told my friend Jonathan Swift about this incident but did not reveal everything to him. He turned my story into a novel, and everyone thinks he is just telling an imaginary tale."
"My name is Lemuel Gulliver." At this point, Bai Yujing's voice suddenly became quieter, and the air in the car seemed to stop; the entire space fell into silence.
"No way, could it be that Lemuel Gulliver?" Bai Yujing seemed uncertain.
Emma, however, hugged Bai Yujing and shouted, "That's right, it's that Lemuel Gulliver! He is a real person; everyone else thinks he is fictional, but he is real, and Lilliput is real too. We have discovered the truth of history."
Bai Yujing was also internally excited, suppressing her emotions as she slowly continued reading: "The events began in 1703. I did not set sail as in the novel, nor was I in Bristol, but on Skye Island, because at that time I received an offer to serve as a ship's surgeon."
"But when I arrived, I realized my goodness, this was not a sea vessel but a ship flying in the sky. My God, you may not believe it; it was simply magic. They constructed a huge sphere from unknown materials and placed fuel underneath to make the ship fly. I was terrified, but they wouldn’t let me leave; I had no choice but to board this magical ship with them and began my fantastical adventure."
Bai Yujing continued reading; the notes described how Lemuel Gulliver traveled through the airship and passed through a magical tunnel. Inside the tunnel, they experienced fierce storms, and ultimately only he arrived at a strange place where there was a Sky Island.
"This must be the Legendary Land or Celestial Kingdom that the captain and others were searching for! However, I did not see God here; instead, I saw some tiny people no bigger than my thumb." As Bai Yujing read on, she felt incredulous about Lemuel Gulliver's experiences.
The following sections detailed Lemuel Gulliver's observations in Lilliput. In the end, Lemuel Gulliver left a message for anyone who read this book.
"If you can understand this book, then you are definitely in the know. You will believe that what I say is true. I have left some things on this island that you might find interesting; it contains directions on how to reach Sky Island, precautions to take, and some small trinkets. As for the burial location, I recorded it on the last page."
Bai Yujing immediately closed the notebook and flipped it over to find a hand-drawn scene on the last page. It depicted a Mountain Valley with a small river flowing through it and a tree standing tall in the valley like a crane among chickens.
Bai Yujing and Emma exchanged glances as if they had silently agreed on something before excitedly embracing each other. After stopping, Emma couldn't help but twist around in excitement: "This is simply the greatest miracle of this century—a Sky Island! My goodness, could such an island really exist?"
Bai Yujing flipped through the diary again to confirm that what was recorded was indeed accurate but still found it hard to believe: "The notes suggest that their mode of transport should be hot air balloons; however, hot air balloons were actually used by the Montgolfier Brothers in France at the end of the 18th century. The ability to carry people across oceans didn't happen until after World War II. Is what’s recorded really true?"
Emma immediately replied, "I believe it must be true. At least Leprechauns exist, and Lilliputian Language exists too; that’s enough to prove what Lemuel Gulliver said. By the way, you still haven't told me how you know Lilliputian Language."
Emma tilted her head, indicating that Bai Yujing should explain. Bai Yujing could not reveal that she possessed a system; she could only say that she had a teacher who was very knowledgeable in languages. She had encountered this type of writing and language before, but did not know it was the Lilliputian Language. During her university days, she had researched this with her teacher, which was why she understood some of it.
Emma believed Bai Yujing's explanation: "Your language teacher must be amazing; no wonder your English is so good."
Well, Bai Yujing suddenly had a very impressive language teacher. Emma took the notebook from Bai Yujing as if it were a treasure, flipping through it repeatedly despite not being able to understand it. This was a notebook left by Lemuel Gulliver. Bai Yujing could not imagine the immense and profound influence that Jonathan Swift and Lemuel Gulliver had on Scottish culture, akin to how Chinese people feel about Li Bai, Lu Xun, or Kong Yiji.
Emma finally stopped and looked at Bai Yujing: "So what should we do next?"
Bai Yujing thought for a moment: "Let's find a place to park. Today we'll take a stroll around here to see if we can find any traces of the Leprechaun. If we don't find anything, we'll go treasure hunting tomorrow."
"Exploring the treasures left by Lemuel Gulliver? I like that; it sounds thrilling!" Emma nodded and then opened the car door to park before starting to walk around Kailijin Town.
Kailijin Town was indeed a small town with a rich historical background, peaceful and serene, with views of the sea everywhere. The cool breeze and fresh air, along with leisurely people, created an atmosphere far removed from the fast pace of big cities, allowing one to quickly relax. The scenery was pleasant; no wonder Will Hackman, even in his old age, longed to return here to retire.
"Come on, chase me!"
"Hahaha, don’t run away! Give me back my stuff!"
A few brats dashed past Bai Yujing and Emma. Bai Yujing suddenly stiffened and turned her head to look at the noisy brats. The alarm in her mind sounded more intensely than ever before, as if reminding her that something particularly important was nearby.
"Stop right there!" Bai Yujing quickly focused her attention on the brats. Her shout made them freeze in place.
