"Oh!"
"Yay!"
After the two of them walked out the door, they continued to shout excitedly. No matter how heavy the rain was, it couldn't dampen their spirits. Later, Bai Yujing and Emma even stopped using an umbrella and ran along the street in the rain. When they got tired from running, they stopped under an awning on the street, and Emma eagerly hugged Bai Yujing and kissed him.
"Oh, this feels so crazy, us!" After a brief sprint, another long wet kiss left Emma feeling a bit breathless.
Emma's golden hair was soaked and draped over her shoulders. Bai Yujing brushed her messy hair back and held her close, saying, "But it feels pretty good!"
After resting for a moment, the rain lightened up a bit. The two strolled slowly along the wet street. Emma asked Bai Yujing, "What do you think the McLeod Family wants? The Fountain of Youth? Immortality?"
Bai Yujing thought for a moment and replied, "I don't think it's that simple. The relationship between the McLeod Family and the legendary Lake Nymph, along with their centuries-old heritage and their relentless pursuit of Sky Island, indicates that they have significant ambitions regarding Sky Island. Plus, I really doubt that such a fountain that grants immortality actually exists."
Emma snuggled into Bai Yujing's embrace as they walked and said, "I still feel uneasy. How about you keep the Golden Disc and the staff, while I keep the Nautical Chart and notes? We can each hold onto two items; that would be safer."
Bai Yujing considered it for a moment and nodded, "That works too!"
"One hundred million pounds in hiring fees really feels a bit unreal."
Both of them sighed at this thought. However, even if they were to accept this job offer, it would be something for the second half of next year. They relaxed their minds and immediately began to plan how to spend that money.
"It's still afternoon; why don't we go shopping? Don't you want to buy some souvenirs to take back? You always buy souvenirs wherever you go. I remember there are quite a few places here selling Loch Ness souvenirs!" Emma suggested eagerly.
Bai Yujing immediately picked up Emma and said, "That's a great idea! But we should wash up and change clothes first!"
Both of them were drenched at the moment. Emma was wearing a full set of sportswear, which clung tightly to her body, revealing her perfect curves. Emma immediately noticed Bai Yujing staring at her with intense eyes. At that moment, Bai Yujing hugged Emma from behind, their bodies pressed closely together. Emma could instantly feel the changes in Bai Yujing's body, and she tensed up, even squeezing her legs together slightly.
"No, what are you thinking about again?" Emma realized that recently, Bai Yujing's desires in this regard had been growing stronger, and the seemingly tireless and energetic body made Emma feel somewhat overwhelmed.
What was supposed to be just a shower and a change of clothes before heading out for shopping turned into them hiding in the bathroom without coming out. All that could be heard were splashes of water and strange sounds. Through the glass window of the bathroom door, some shadowy figures that made one's blood rush could be seen.
Emma sulked on the bed: "I told you not to get handsy; it's already past eight, and most places are closed."
In the UK, except for some major cities, most places stop operating by five in the afternoon, except for restaurants and some services within hotels. So if you want to shop, you have to go early during the day.
"It's okay; we still have to stay here for another day. We can buy things before we leave tomorrow!" Bai Yujing said apologetically.
Emma lay softly on the bed while Bai Yujing felt refreshed. Meanwhile, Bai Yujing secretly reached under the blanket through a gap in the quilt. Before Bai Yujing could touch anything with her wandering hand, she let out a yelp.
Bai Yujing jumped up from the bed, rubbing her thigh while gasping for air. Emma looked at Bai Yujing with an annoyed expression: "No touching! I need to rest; you get out!"
Bai Yujing pouted and walked toward the door but saw Emma throw a pillow at her. "By the way, you're sleeping on the sofa tonight!"
"No! You can't treat me like this!"
Emma ignored her: "I'm hungry too; order me a mushroom chicken rice and add a strawberry ice cream."
"Yes, my queen!"
Today was somewhat monotonous; it rained all day. Bai Yujing basically stayed in the room with Emma, watching TV, playing on the computer, and posting on Facebook. After handing over the manuscript in the afternoon, Bai Yujing felt a bit restless.
Well, part of the reason was that the sofa was narrow and small, making it impossible to stretch out his legs. To prevent Bai Yujing from attacking her, Emma had even locked the door from the inside. Bai Yujing was suffering as a result, so he decided to go out for a stroll.
Under the night sky, Inverness was quiet and mysterious. It was already past midnight, and there were hardly any people on the streets. As Bai Yujing walked along the street, he held a hand—a cane he had found in Lemuel Gulliver's box.
When Bai Yujing left, he happened to see it on the table. In the afternoon, they had redistributed their hidden items, and the cane was entrusted to Bai Yujing for safekeeping. At that time, he thought about surprising Emma in the bathroom and casually tossed it on the table. Now seeing it again, he picked it up.
The hand was dark brown with a thick layer of patina; it felt somewhat heavy in his hand and gave a sense of solidity. Bai Yujing believed that Lemuel Gulliver wouldn't have placed a hand in the box without reason. Even if it had nothing to do with Sky Island, it must at least be something of great sentimental value to him.
Continuing down the street, the scenery of Inverness unfolded before him. At the end of the street, he could see the shadow of a river. Next to the wide Ness River was a large green sloping lawn. Bai Yujing walked along the grass and after passing a slope, he spotted a small dock. This dock was very small and could probably only accommodate some small boats.
Bai Yujing climbed over the fence and walked along the cement dock until he reached its end, where he sat at the very edge.
The Ness River flowed quietly into the distance under the night sky. Unlike the roaring Yangtze or Yellow Rivers, its calmness required careful observation to appreciate its slow currents and tiny waves.
Across the river stood rows of Western-style buildings. A river flowed through this ancient city of Highlands, amidst houses painted in white and blue with spires of clock towers and churches. Further away were some classical old buildings, all now silent in the night, creating a relaxing atmosphere.
Today there weren't as many stars as yesterday, but there were still faint starlights reflecting on the river's surface, making it seem like a galaxy. As small waves passed by, this galaxy appeared somewhat illusory.
Although the starlight wasn't bright, tonight's moon was somewhat luminous; its crescent reflection danced on the river, reminding Bai Yujing of the story of a monkey trying to fish for the moon. However, since the moon was on the other side of Ness River, Bai Yujing could only gaze at it from afar.
Bai Yujing lay leisurely at the end of the dock, looking up at the sky with his feet dangling above the water's surface. The sky was sparsely dotted with stars while a gentle breeze blew across the river's surface, creating a hypnotic ambiance.
Bai Yujing fiddled with the staff in his hand, trying to see if there were any new discoveries under the moonlight, but he did not notice that the Ness River beneath him was undergoing a change.
A huge black shadow swept through the river below, moving at great speed, covering dozens of meters in the blink of an eye. The water currents at the riverbed began to ripple, causing splashes to erupt on the surface. The once calm Ness River became turbulent.
The massive figure approached from a distance, passing under a large bridge and entering the interior of Inverness, seemingly intending to move through this area.
At this moment, Bai Yujing was still unaware of what was happening, continuing to play with his object amidst the beauty of the night.
"Hmm?" He seemed to hear the sound of splashing water. Bai Yujing sat up and looked into the distance, focusing intently. He then noticed that the ripples in the water were coming from afar; this was not normal water flow.
Bai Yujing felt something was off but couldn't quite put his finger on it. He sensed a feeling of crisis enveloping him, reminiscent of yesterday's experience at Loch Ness, as if something was watching him.
The ripples in the water grew larger. Bai Yujing felt that this wasn't just waves; it felt more like something was passing beneath the water.
But what could be so large as to cause such widespread disturbances and splashes? This thought made Bai Yujing feel increasingly uneasy, prompting him to turn and run back from the dock.
At that moment, the enormous figure had already covered several dozen meters in an instant, drawing closer. Before Bai Yujing could make it halfway back, he saw massive water waves erupt beside the concrete dock. Huge splashes exploded into a shower of droplets.
Bai Yujing was startled and drenched like a drowned rat; however, there was no time for surprise now. A colossal figure loomed over him, and when he looked up, he saw a pair of eyes like lanterns staring down at him.
"Oh my god!" Bai Yujing thought he might be in serious trouble this time!
