"Ian, Ian, wake up! Everyone outside is saying the Loch Ness Monster appeared next to us yesterday!"
Bai Yujing opened his bleary eyes. Emma was dressed in sportswear, looking like she had just returned from a run. She seemed to have called out to him earlier, but Bai Yujing remained sprawled on the sofa.
"Oh!" Bai Yujing said lightly, making Emma feel a bit awkward.
Emma cupped Bai Yujing's head, urging him to sit up straight. "No, aren't you surprised? It's the Loch Ness Monster! It really appeared, and now there are people everywhere around here."
Bai Yujing picked up his phone from the table, opened the photo album, and handed it to Emma. "I was there yesterday, and I even took pictures!"
After saying that, Bai Yujing immediately got up to wash up. Emma exclaimed in amazement from outside, "Ian, when did you go out yesterday? That's so dangerous! My God, you were standing right in front of it! It's huge enough to swallow you whole, just like eating a piece of chocolate cake."
Water splashed as Bai Yujing spoke through the glass door. "I couldn't sleep last night, so I went for a walk and happened to run into it. But it didn't seem to have any ill intentions towards me, or maybe my chocolate cake wasn't tasty enough?"
Bai Yujing dried his face and said to Emma outside the door, "If you had been there at the time, maybe it would have suited its taste."
"My God, this is not a time for jokes!" Bai Yujing stepped out, and Emma looked at him with great concern. "Maybe I shouldn't have locked you outside yesterday. If something had happened to you, I can't even imagine!"
Emma felt a bit regretful, her expression turning fearful. Bai Yujing comforted her by saying, "No, it's not your fault. Look at me; I'm perfectly fine here now."
Emma's expression changed immediately. "That's right; it's all your fault."
Emma took Bai Yujing's phone. "This is just too sensational! I need to post these pictures on my Facebook and Twitter so everyone can see. We're going to be famous, Ian!"
By noon, more and more people gathered by the Ness River. The small dock was crowded with people, and several boats were sailing on the river. Bai Yujing even saw reporters; several cameras and live reporters were broadcasting.
Hannah was an outdoor news reporter for BBC News and a newcomer. She had been sent to Inverness to report on the Loch Ness Monster news. Like previous reports about the Loch Ness Monster's appearances, there were numerous witnesses this time as well. Unfortunately, the photos were not very clear; they only captured a blurry and dark image since the Loch Ness Monster had already submerged in the water.
"With such pictures going out, it's probably hard to create any real sensation. I thought I might uncover some big news; maybe then I could escape this annoying outdoor reporter identity!" Hannah said while biting her lip.
As she flipped through first-hand photos purchased from a cunning and unscrupulous witness, Hannah suddenly noticed that one person was visible in all these photos—someone who was standing right next to the Loch Ness Monster on the dock.
Hannah felt a surge of excitement as she found this person; as long as she could locate him, she would have access to the latest information and live updates. However, the photographer beside her immediately rushed over, saying, “Hannah, I think you should take a look at this. I just saw it online.”
“What is it?” Hannah took the photographer's phone and was instantly taken aback. She had just paid a hefty price to obtain firsthand information from some unscrupulous fat woman, and now high-definition close-up images were already appearing online. Hannah felt that when she returned, she would definitely be ridiculed, especially thinking of that little brat sitting across from her. Hannah felt certain they would portray her as a fool.
Looking at the images, it seemed to be the figure standing on the dock captured in the photos. Several pictures were very clear, allowing one to see the appearance of the Loch Ness Monster. It was a true giant beast, conservatively estimated to be three stories high, over ten meters long, with blue skin, a fierce head, a powerful and elongated tail, and its back covered in bony spikes.
Hannah noticed that the person taking the photo was an Asian man with yellow skin. Suddenly, Hannah looked up and saw an Asian man walking past her, holding hands with a blonde girl as they headed towards the crowded banks of the Ness River.
Hannah immediately compared the photo with what she saw and suddenly realized, shouting internally: “It’s him!”
Without hesitation, Hannah chased after him, calling out ahead, “Excuse me, sir! Wait a moment!”
Bai Yujing and Emma arrived at the dock by the Ness River, where they had rested last night. He was preparing to tell her how he encountered the Loch Ness Monster and what happened at that time. Emma was also very curious, but today seemed particularly crowded; it felt like everyone from Inverness had gathered there, leaving them only able to observe from a distance.
Suddenly, they heard shouting from behind. Bai Yujing turned around and saw a woman in an office attire with a name tag approaching them. She had black hair tied up high and wore glasses, exuding an air of maturity and intelligence.
Bai Yujing, holding Emma's hand, turned around to see this woman stopping right in front of him. He looked around and asked, “Are you looking for me?”
Bai Yujing thought he didn’t know this woman; why was she looking for him? However, Emma noticed the name tag on her clothing: “Hannah Ferguson, you’re a reporter.”
Hannah nodded: “That’s right; I’m a news reporter for BBC News. Is this you in these photos?”
Holding up her phone for Bai Yujing to see, he recognized it as one of his photos from yesterday. He nodded: “Yes, that’s me. I took that here yesterday. May I ask why you’re looking for me?”
Hannah excitedly clenched her fist and internally shouted yes before smiling at Bai Yujing: “I was wondering if I could invite you and your girlfriend for a cup of coffee. I’d like to interview you about what happened.”
Bai Yujing and Emma exchanged glances; Emma immediately helped Bai Yujing agree: “Why not? We’d be happy to! But this is exclusive news!”
Hannah quickly nodded: “Of course! We will pay for it.”
Bai Yujing wouldn’t refuse; in some sense, he enjoyed this feeling. The last time he was featured in a newspaper was in a British publication, which seemed quite nice.
In the café, Hannah and her photographer conducted a comprehensive interview with Bai Yujing and Emma. "It's amazing! You are the discoverers of Gulliver's Manuscript. Can I take a look at the manuscript?"
Bai Yujing shrugged, "I'm afraid not, as we sold it yesterday."
Hannah was very excited; this seemed like a big news scoop: "Can I ask who bought it? What was the price?"
Bai Yujing shook his head, "I'm very sorry, but we cannot disclose that information. However, I can tell you that the price exceeded our expectations, and we are quite satisfied."
Hannah then asked many details, from the appearance of the Loch Ness Monster to its departure. She even inquired about Bai Yujing's previous experience at Urquhart Castle, where he felt something watching him from below. Although Bai Yujing thought it might have been his imagination, Hannah insisted it was an important clue and selling point. "This is such an exciting journey! I really envy you. You just mentioned you filmed a video; can we buy it from you?"
Emma was a responsible negotiator and ultimately sold the video to BBC for eighty thousand pounds. Including the interview fee, Bai Yujing made a small profit and assured them that he wouldn't sell it to anyone else or release it before they did. Both parties had a very pleasant discussion.
Finally, Bai Yujing took out his camera and asked the Daily Express photographer to help him take a photo of himself with Emma and Hannah sitting together on a bench in the café, smiling at the camera.
As they left, Emma was somewhat excited about being in the news; she was even more enthusiastic than Bai Yujing: "Ian, how did I do just now? Wasn't I great? I wonder if this segment we filmed will make it to the news."
Bai Yujing replied, "It should. Hannah just applied for news funding from above. Since their leaders decided to provide funding, it means they have high hopes for this story. I think it will be released."
Emma immediately jumped into Bai Yujing's arms in excitement: "That's great! This is my first time being in the news. Yin En, you're my lucky star!"
Bai Yujing hugged Emma back: "Then I should feel very honored!"
