Along Inverness, Bai Yujing and Emma began a major shopping spree. They stumbled upon a Tailor Shop, an old store specializing in custom-made suits that looked like it had been around for quite some time. Emma excitedly took Bai Yujing inside, insisting that he get a tailored suit.
Bai Yujing already owned a few formal outfits, as some occasions required them, but he rarely wore them. He had one custom-made suit that sounded quite impressive. The shop owner was a spirited middle-aged man who didn’t seem too old but had a full head of silver hair.
His hair was meticulously styled, and he wore a pair of frameless glasses, along with a white shirt and a black vest. At first glance, he exuded a sense of professionalism.
“Hello, how can I help you?” the owner stepped forward and asked the two. It was a small shop with only the owner and one woman inside, yet it carried an air of long-standing tradition.
Emma immediately stepped up, “We need to have a suit made, the best one.”
The owner glanced at Bai Yujing and nodded knowingly, “Please come in.”
Bai Yujing wasn’t very familiar with this process, but Emma seemed quite knowledgeable. She discussed various details and requirements with the owner, including the non-fusible linen interlining, thread, fabric materials, and even the type of handcrafted buttons they wanted.
The owner didn’t seem to think Emma was asking for too much; instead, he nodded in agreement, indicating that it was all perfectly fine.
Generally, custom suits require two to three fittings and adjustments. Knowing that Bai Yujing couldn’t stay here for long, the owner specifically explained this situation to him. During the measuring process, he was particularly careful and attentive. Once the measurements were complete, Bai Yujing asked Emma, “How do you know so much about this?”
“I helped my dad buy several suits, so I have quite a bit of experience with this. This place is really good; I just asked them, and their family has been making suits for six generations. It’s a century-old shop, and the owner is very professional,” Emma said proudly.
The complete three-piece suit cost £2,450, which was not cheap at all. However, compared to prices back home, Bai Yujing felt it was quite reasonable. In his country, spending twenty or thirty thousand yuan would still only get you a semi-handmade suit with uncertain materials and craftsmanship.
The shop owner informed Bai Yujing that it would take about a month to receive the finished product. Since Bai Yujing would definitely not be here by then, he could only ask Emma to pick it up and send it to him later.
Bai Yujing and Emma bought quite a few Souvenirs, including a plush toy of the Loch Ness Monster. When Bai Yujing held the plush toy in his hands, he asked Emma, “Do you think the plush toys of the Loch Ness Monster will change in appearance in the future and look like the giant beast in my photos?”
Emma thought for a moment and replied, “I think they will. But I don’t think you’ll be able to collect any royalties from them!”
Bai Yujing had a serious expression: "No, I have no such intention. Even if there were to be a fee, it should be the Loch Ness Monster that collects it; the rights to the likeness belong to it."
"That would be a sensational event, a monster's rights protection journey?"
In the afternoon, the two decided to visit Inverness Castle, as it was the most famous attraction in Inverness. Bai Yujing felt that if they left without seeing it, he would regret it.
Inverness Castle is built on a slope beside the Ness River, where many wild rabbits can be seen on the green lawn, and seabirds inhabit the area. In front of the castle stands a statue, and Emma told Bai Yujing that this is Flora MacDonald, a famous Scottish hero who once helped Prince Charles escape.
This castle was very different from the various castles Bai Yujing had seen before. In his eyes, those castles were ancient relics, fortresses, and strongholds, while this castle felt more like a villa, a residence set in a garden.
The castle was very beautiful, with the lawn meticulously landscaped into flower beds and various intricate structures displayed within. Bai Yujing was amazed; not only does it require trimming, but maintaining it also demands tremendous effort.
Surrounding the castle were large trees of various kinds, with small birds and rabbits darting about, creating an atmosphere of charm and natural harmony. There were many people around the castle—some were out for a walk, some pushing strollers, and others were couples sitting on nearby benches whispering to each other.
Unfortunately, this place had become an office location and was not open to the public, so they could only take photos outside and could not enter for a visit.
At that moment, Bai Yujing received a phone call from Hannah, as they had exchanged numbers earlier: "Hello, Hannah. Is there something you need?"
Hannah sounded very excited on the phone: "I wanted to tell you some good news! Tonight at 9 PM, BBC News will broadcast a story related to you, and relevant newspapers will be released tomorrow. Make sure to watch!"
Bai Yujing was also very excited upon hearing this; he did not expect results to come so quickly. Being able to see himself on television was indeed an incredibly thrilling thing. After expressing his gratitude to Hannah, Bai Yujing hung up.
"What's wrong?" Emma asked when she saw Bai Yujing looking excited. "Who called?"
"It was Hannah!"
Bai Yujing picked up Emma, startling her: "Put me down!"
Bai Yujing said excitedly, "Emma, we are really going to be on TV, it's a news program that will air at 9 PM on BBC."
"Oh my God, is this for real?" Emma couldn't believe the good news had come so quickly. The two embraced and shouted in joy, immediately attracting the attention of those around them, but they didn't care at all.
On the way back, Bai Yujing happened to see a restaurant with a sign in Chinese that read "BJ Lou," which was a Chinese restaurant. Upon entering, they realized it was a buffet.
Since Bai Yujing had started eating more, he found the buffet style very appealing and suitable for himself, as he could eat his fill. The restaurant owner was of Asian descent but had moved to the UK from his grandfather's generation, so his Chinese wasn't very good, which was quite normal. Bai Yujing had even met a white person who spoke Mandarin with a strong accent and complained about how difficult English was to learn, leaving Bai Yujing unsure of how to respond.
The restaurant had Wi-Fi, so Bai Yujing took out his laptop to check how yesterday's Weibo post was doing.
After opening it, Bai Yujing noticed that his followers had increased again. Although the growth wasn't as significant as before, given the short amount of time, things hadn't had a chance to ferment yet. Upon closer inspection, he found that he had made it onto Weibo's trending list, reaching the tenth position. Although it paled in comparison to some popular celebrity gossip that dominated the first spot by tenfold, it was still the first time Bai Yujing felt he could rank in such a position. However, upon further reading, he discovered a flood of negative comments criticizing him for being attention-seeking, including some from well-known Weibo influencers.
One prominent figure from a fact-checking studio went too far: "Some minor characters nowadays are becoming increasingly shameless just to gain fame. Not long ago they were talking about treasures; now they're claiming monsters exist. It's laughable! If such things were true, there would have been a sensation abroad long ago. Why is there no news about it now? If this is real, I’ll live-stream myself eating shit."
Seeing this made Bai Yujing feel quite angry. He immediately replied, "You can count on eating that shit."
Next, Bai Yujing uploaded some photos from the interview and edited them before posting about today's interview.
"I am very happy to have been interviewed by BBC reporters today. I never expected to receive attention from such an influential television station like BBC. Thanks to reporter Hannah. If anyone is interested in the truth about the Loch Ness Monster, you can watch BBC's news program at 9 PM tonight. I will also be releasing some videos of my encounter with the Loch Ness Monster. Thank you all for your attention and support."
After clicking send, Bai Yujing felt a rush of satisfaction. He chose not to lower himself by engaging in a petty argument with the other person; instead, he decided to slap back with evidence and see what they had to say.
