"I'll be staying here tonight? That doesn't seem right!" When Emma told Bai Yujing this news, Bai Yujing refused, but felt a little bit of anticipation in his heart.
Emma kicked Bai Yujing in the butt, "You sleep in the guest room, what are you thinking? Bethany and I will be sleeping together."
Bai Yujing immediately felt a bit disappointed and said, "Oh, so that's how it is!"
As Bai Yujing was organizing his belongings, he didn't expect the door to open, and Mr. Bruce stood at the entrance: "Can we talk?"
"Of course!" Bai Yujing's heart skipped a beat; he felt that the moment had finally come for a private conversation with his future father-in-law.
Mr. Bruce sat down at the table and looked at the somewhat nervous Bai Yujing: "Don't be nervous. I'm not here to make you leave Emma. How should I put this? I won't interfere with Emma's choices and decisions. Whatever she wants to do, I'll only offer suggestions, but her life is the path she has to walk."
Bai Yujing nodded: "Thank you for your support; I really like Emma."
Mr. Bruce listened carefully as Bai Yujing spoke: "You seem to be two years older than Emma. Do you have a stable job?"
Bai Yujing replied, "Yes, but I quit my job when I traveled abroad. I'm not a lazy person; I believe I can provide Emma with a stable life based on my abilities. Recently, I also consulted Emma about her plans. She will finish her studies next year, and then she can choose to come to China or I can move to London. I respect her choice."
Bruce nodded appreciatively: "You're quite good. To be honest, I'm not too fond of you, but Emma told me that you're perfect for her, that you're her destiny. Although I don't quite understand the thoughts of young people like you, I think she might be right."
After their conversation, Bruce left, but Daisy and Bethany knocked on the door: "Ian, we hope we’re not disturbing you!"
"No, not at all! What do you need?" Bai Yujing had just changed into his pajamas; it was still early, and he wasn't planning to rest yet as he was fiddling with his computer and camera in the room.
"Bethany really likes you; she wants to see those photos you mentioned before. We hope we’re not interrupting your rest," Daisy said as she pulled her daughter towards Bai Yujing.
Bai Yujing happily said, "Of course not! Come on, Bethany."
Bethany was eight years old this year but was already quite tall; it seemed she had inherited her mother's genes. Her straight black hair contrasted greatly with Emma's golden curls; only in the eyes and nose could one see that they were sisters.
Bai Yujing couldn't help but think of Julie, the daughter of the Marin Couple he had met before—she was an extremely outgoing and precocious little girl with a fiery temper—while Bethany appeared very well-behaved.
Bethany stood in front of Bai Yujing, who said, "Just call me Ian. Do you want to see the treasures and monsters we've found?"
"Of course, can I see them too?"
"Why not?"
Bai Yujing picked Bethany up and sat her on his lap. He opened his computer and showed her pictures of the diary he had found, the treasure chest, and Gulliver's Manuscript.
"Wow! Did you encounter any bad guys? Don't treasure hunters usually run into trouble from bad people while searching for treasure?" Bethany asked innocently.
The Daily Express referred to Bai Yujing as a Treasure Hunter, which he felt was an exaggeration. He didn't expect Bethany to know about it; she must have heard it from her mother. After thinking for a moment, he replied, "Actually, we haven't encountered any bad guys, but we did meet some monsters. Do you want to see what they look like?"
"I want to see!" Bethany immediately looked excited, her round little face glowing with anticipation.
"Then the monsters are about to appear!" Bai Yujing played the video he had recorded at that time.
Bethany quickly covered her mouth in surprise. "Wow, there really are monsters!"
Talking to children is a joyful experience because their thoughts are pure and innocent, without the complexities and hidden meanings of adult interactions. Happy is happy, angry is angry.
"Bethany, it's time to sleep now. You have school tomorrow," came Daisy's voice from outside.
Reluctantly, Bethany jumped off Bai Yujing's lap. "Ian, I'm going back. Will you have more amazing adventures to tell me about in the future?"
"Of course! Wait a moment," Bai Yujing immediately took out a Loch Ness Monster plush toy from his bag, which he had bought as a souvenir. "This is for you!"
Bethany received it with delight and ran back to show her mother and sister.
It was getting late; Bai Yujing turned off the lights and lay down in bed. However, he didn't expect that in the middle of the night, an unexpected guest would sneak into his room—a slender shadow wearing only lingerie quietly opened Bai Yujing's bedroom door and crept onto his bed.
The shadow suddenly stripped off its clothes and slipped into the bed, starting to caress Bai Yujing's body. In a daze, Bai Yujing felt something was off. Turning her head, she caught a glimpse of Emma's charming face in the faint moonlight.
"Emma, how did you get here? What about Bethany?" Bai Yujing appeared very surprised. Suddenly, with Emma not by her side, Bai Yujing felt a bit uneasy about sleeping. Having gotten used to having someone next to her, it was indeed a bit uncomfortable to be alone.
Emma whispered, "Bethany is already asleep. I came over secretly and will sneak back in the morning. As long as you don't make any noise, it will be fine."
Bai Yujing immediately pressed Emma down: "Of course I won't shout; I'm just afraid you might."
Just as Emma was about to retort, Bai Yujing leaned down and covered her mouth. The blanket quickly rose high under the moonlight, creating waves that ebbed and flowed, accompanied by soft muffled sounds of restraint, filled with heat and allure.
The next morning, as dawn broke, Emma turned over, and Bai Yujing immediately wrapped her arms around her without even opening her eyes: "What are you doing? It's still dark so early."
Emma quickly tugged at Bai Yujing's arm: "Let go of me; don't get handsy. I need to go back right away; otherwise, I'll be discovered. Daisy has to take Bethany to school later! If she finds out, I'm done for!"
Emma rolled up the blanket and tiptoed through the hallway but unexpectedly ran into Daisy, who had just come down the stairs. Daisy paused for a moment before looking at Emma with a smile in her eyes. Emma's face instantly turned bright red as she hurriedly quickened her pace and fled back into the room.
Daisy immediately burst into laughter. Emma heard it from inside the room and felt her body heat up instantly. She quickly dove under the covers. Bethany opened her sleepy eyes and saw Emma: "Sister, you're back!"
It turned out that even Bethany had noticed. Emma felt like she couldn't lift her head in embarrassment and anger; she immediately blamed all the problems on Bai Yujing—it was all his fault.
At that moment, Bai Yujing was still sprawled on the bed sound asleep. Even if he knew what was happening, he probably wouldn't care at all.
