"Poor!"
Sitting outside a real estate agency, Bai Yujing took a big gulp of mineral water. The weather in Guang Province was still hot, unlike Edinburgh, where it was already cold enough for coats. After running around for a while, Bai Yujing realized that the little money in hand was practically worthless; it wouldn't even make a sound if thrown into the market.
Moreover, when Bai Yujing came to inquire about properties, many agents were indifferent and did not believe that Bai Yujing had the financial capability. However, they didn't use harsh words; they just seemed a bit dismissive. Still, when Bai Yujing asked to see introductions and pictures, they did not refuse.
After browsing several properties with the agency, two three-story duplexes in Luohu caught Bai Yujing's eye, but they were priced at thirteen million right off the bat. The key issue was that the area looked somewhat old; the community had been around for years, and one building didn't even have an elevator—simply unacceptable. After checking out several places, Bai Yujing was still not satisfied. Some felt too small, while others were just within budget but left little room for savings for emergencies.
Bai Yujing thought about spending eighty points to buy a property instead. However, the System Mall did not allow for precise location selection; it was like a lottery—purely based on luck. It was time to see if Bai Yujing would be lucky or unlucky!
With one hundred thirty points on hand, spending eighty would leave fifty points as a backup for emergencies. So, why not give it a try?
Bai Yujing opened the mall and confirmed the range within the city limits. Immediately, the points began to fluctuate until the final price settled at eighty points. Bai Yujing clicked to purchase and watched as images and information flowed continuously until it finally stopped at one property.
"Ding!" With that sound, eighty points vanished. Bai Yujing was taken aback—was that it? I haven't even seen the location clearly!
On the way back, Bai Yujing wondered if there had been an error in the system that swallowed up their points. Even ATMs can malfunction; surely this kind of bad luck wouldn't happen to them.
Unexpectedly, halfway through the journey, the phone rang. "Hello, is this Mr. Bai?"
Bai Yujing paused, guessing it might be another advertisement: "Yes, may I ask what this is regarding?"
"Oh, hello! I am Su Yang, entrusted by Mr. Gao to assist you with the property transfer process. Are you available now?" The voice on the phone suddenly became enthusiastic.
Bai Yujing immediately realized that this was how the system transferred ownership of the property to them. "I am available now; where should I meet you?"
"Please prepare the documents I mentioned earlier, and I'll come meet you. Then we can go to the real estate bureau together to handle the procedures. Mr. Gao urgently needs cash right now and appreciates your help in resolving his pressing issue. Everything has been arranged, so the process should be quick," Su Yang said some things that Bai Yujing found hard to understand, but as long as they got the house, everything was fine.
After hanging up, Su Yang thought to themselves that this was their first time encountering such a client—no questions asked; full payment made without even seeing the house first. From their voice, they sounded young—probably some rich second-generation individual—and it was hard to understand these wealthy people.
The property had been on hold for some time since the client insisted on a full cash transaction and was pressing for urgency. The price had dropped repeatedly because who could come up with nearly twenty million in such a short time? With pressure from the client weighing heavily on Su Yang's mind, they finally felt relieved now that things were moving forward.
Being able to help their client sell the house meant a substantial commission for themselves—why worry about anything else?
Bai Yujing hurried home to prepare the documents that Su Yang had mentioned earlier. At the entrance of the community, he saw an Audi A5 approaching. It seemed that the lawyer handling the commission was also wealthy. Although it wasn't a luxury car, it was certainly not something an average office worker could afford; lawyers do earn quite well.
A woman in her late twenties stepped out, exuding a mature charm. When Bai Yujing looked at Su Yang, Su Yang was also observing Bai Yujing, surprised that the buyer of the property was such a young man.
Bai Yujing had styled his hair that morning; his previously messy hair had been cut into a buzz cut, making him look particularly energetic and vibrant, leaving a good impression.
"Hello, are you Mr. Bai?" Su Yang got out of the car and looked Bai Yujing up and down. The mature woman's gaze felt somewhat intense, especially given Bai Yujing's newly toned physique from recent workouts and long travels. Bai Yujing felt as if the woman licked her lips, unsure if it was just his imagination.
"Hello, Attorney Su, I am Bai Yujing." Bai Yujing stepped forward to shake hands with Su Yang.
Su Yang nodded, "I didn't expect Mr. Bai to be so young; you really are quite accomplished. By the way, did you bring all the materials I mentioned earlier?"
Bai Yujing nodded and handed the documents to Su Yang. After confirming everything was in order, they went to the real estate bureau to complete the procedures. After signing the contracts and documents, Su Yang handed a set of keys to Bai Yujing.
"Can you take me to see the house?" Although they had completed the paperwork, Bai Yujing still didn't know where the house was located and had to rely on Su Yang for help.
Su Yang nodded, "Of course! I'm more than happy to accompany such a handsome guy."
Once in the car, they drove towards Luohu. Su Yang said to Bai Yujing, "Mr. Bai, you really got a good deal this time. Mr. Gao was in a hurry to sell due to cash flow issues and sold it for several million less than market value; you can't usually find such prices."
Bai Yujing nodded and replied casually, "Mainly because the house looks pretty good."
However, contrary to what Bai Yujing had imagined, Su Yang drove straight until they reached near Luohu East Gate before stopping. He drove directly into a villa area where the security guard at the entrance seemed to recognize Su Yang and let them through without hesitation.
Su Yang informed Bai Yujing, "The documents should be ready by tomorrow or the day after; I'll contact you then. But Mr. Bai can move in right away; I've already spoken with the property management. Once the property certificate arrives, we can handle the property transfer procedures for utilities like water and electricity."
Eventually, they stopped at one of the standalone villas. Through the car window, Bai Yujing could see a garden inside the iron gate. The villa was three and a half stories high with a Western architectural style, entirely white with intricate patterns carved on its walls and stone columns. Su Yang took the keys from Bai Yujing and opened the door, leading him inside.
"This place has both front and back gardens; the backyard features a swimming pool. The interior decoration is very luxurious with complete furniture," Bai Yujing remarked as he entered. He noticed that everything was as Su Yang had described—furniture like sofas and tables were present—but appliances were missing; items like refrigerators and televisions as well as paintings that should have hung on the walls were gone, leaving it somewhat empty.
The decor was upscale yet understated; it didn't have an overly extravagant feel. The dark gold tones conveyed an air of elegance and restraint. The first floor mainly consisted of a large hall with a conference room, an open kitchen, and a spacious dining area; there was also a garage separated off to one side.
The second floor featured two large bedrooms along with two guest rooms, two bathrooms, a walk-in closet, and an office. The third floor included a gym, storage room, and a spacious balcony with stairs leading directly down to the backyard.
Walking down the stairs, Bai Yujing saw a spacious Swimming Pool. The edges of the backyard were planted with flowers and trees, while the area near the house was paved with wooden flooring, on which were placed several chairs and a large marble round table.
After introducing everything, Su Yang asked Bai Yujing, "Now this place belongs to you. You just need to add a few things, and you can move in. How about it, Mr. Bai? Are you satisfied?"
What else could Bai Yujing say? He could only nod. However, Su Yang misunderstood and thought that Bai Yujing found the place ordinary and barely acceptable. It seemed that he was just a wealthy person who bought a house here as a temporary residence.
Little did he know that Bai Yujing was so astonished he couldn't speak. Bai Yujing felt that being able to buy a two-story duplex would be enough satisfaction. Who would have thought he ended up with a villa complete with a garden and Swimming Pool? The decoration and area must cost at least twenty million. Even if it was a few million less than market price as Su Yang said, it would still be close to twenty million.
He never realized he had such luck! This was quite a windfall. Su Yang handed his business card to Bai Yujing, saying, "I should be heading back now. If you have any requests, feel free to call me."
"Okay, thank you for your help, Attorney Su!"
"Not at all, it's my duty."
Bai Yujing saw Su Yang out the door and immediately rushed around the villa excitedly. He never expected that he could actually get a villa in Deep Market; this could almost be considered a luxury home.
In the extremely spacious hall, he could see the winding staircase, golden chandelier, and tall stone columns. Lying on the sofa, Bai Yujing suddenly felt an unreal sensation—was he dreaming?
After a long while, he confirmed that this villa truly belonged to him. Bai Yujing explored the villa from top to bottom and even took a dip in the Swimming Pool. The Swimming Pool wasn't particularly large; it was 1.5 meters deep and had a Rockery beside it. The backyard was slightly elevated, and beyond the fence of the yard lay a lake that resembled a park.
However, since the lake's water surface was about seven or eight meters below the height of Bai Yujing's backyard, he couldn't see what was happening over there. Lying by the edge of the Swimming Pool and gazing into the distance, Bai Yujing felt that he had accomplished another small goal in life.
