In the morning, after Bai Yujing and Li Hao had a somewhat luxurious but average-tasting breakfast prepared by the hotel, they were ready to head to their next destination. As they got into the car, they saw a smiling face outside the window.
Bai Yujing didn't even want to roll down the window and was about to start the vehicle to leave when Lin Ruoqiao blocked their way. With no other option, Bai Yujing rolled down the window and shouted, "What kind of trouble are you trying to cause now?"
"I just want a ride; I haven't been back in a long time and would like to see it again. Didn't you say your next stop is Nanning?" Lin Ruoqiao leaned on the car, speaking to Bai Yujing.
Li Hao seemed to have a good impression of Lin Ruoqiao. His tone carried a hint of indulgence as he said, "Fine, let her get in. Lin Ruoqiao, you should go home too. Skipping school at such a young age and running around outside all day will only lead to trouble."
Lin Ruoqiao climbed in, saying, "It's none of your business."
Good intentions were taken for granted, so Li Hao could only sit aside and play on his computer. He seemed dependent on it, always carrying it around even when going out; he rarely used his phone for anything other than calls.
The journey continued in silence: Bai Yujing drove, Li Hao fiddled with his computer, and Lin Ruoqiao lay in the back listening to music. Just before reaching their destination, Li Hao suddenly asked, "By the way, how did you manage to block our signal when we were locating this vehicle earlier?"
Lin Ruoqiao sat up and immediately took out something resembling a portable router from her backpack. "With this signal jammer. You two are so clueless; all I had to do was disrupt the signal. You still have all that stuff in the car, but it's useless now!"
Li Hao was taken aback. "So much? We only installed one!"
Lin Ruoqiao quickly threw out a plastic bag from her backpack, which included the one Li Hao had attached to the bumper, along with a complete set of eavesdropping and tracking devices. Li Hao caught it and exchanged glances with Bai Yujing: "This one isn't ours."
Lin Ruoqiao immediately replied, "Impossible! I found it in your car; it was hidden under the seat. Did you think just hiding it would work? I have professional equipment."
Li Hao took out another device from the bag and looked around: "Who put this here?"
Bai Yujing hadn't expected such an item to be in his car either; his expression turned serious. Who would place something like this in his vehicle without him knowing? If Li Hao hadn't asked just now, he might never have discovered it.
Thinking about someone lurking in the shadows watching him made Bai Yujing feel uneasy. Li Hao examined the device: "This is high-end; it can receive signals remotely and is dual-purpose for tracking and eavesdropping—much better than mine. This is professional work!"
Bai Yujing asked, "Li Hao, aren't you supposed to be an expert? Can you find out who is eavesdropping on us from this?"
Li Hao shook his head, "This has all been shut down. Even if we restart it, others will probably think we've discovered them and abandoned this device. Even if we turn it on and they continue to listen, I can only know their location, which could be thousands of miles away. It's very troublesome."
Bai Yujing nodded, "Let's try it first!"
Li Hao agreed and turned on the listening device. After a few taps, he quickly hacked into it, "The last time it was activated was at eight o'clock five days ago. It must have been installed then."
Bai Yujing thought for a moment; he should have been at the supermarket buying groceries at that time. So, it must have been when he was parking that someone installed the device in his car. Since there was such a thing in his car, what about at home? Bai Yujing felt a chill run down his spine and decided that he must have someone check thoroughly when he got back.
Li Hao continued, "Next, we'll see if anyone is receiving signals from this device. If they connect to this equipment, I can immediately determine their location."
Bai Yujing patted Li Hao on the shoulder, "You really are a professional!"
"No, no, I'm just an amateur!"
Lin Ruoqiao peeked her head out from behind, "I think men who are particularly good at this kind of thing must have issues. Little Li, I didn't see it before; you're actually a pervert! Do you often use this to do bad things?"
Li Hao was instantly furious, "This is called a legitimate hobby; I'm a serious person."
Once they entered the city, Bai Yujing asked Lin Ruoqiao, "Where's your home? I'm not very familiar with this area."
"Turn right at the red light ahead and drive straight until you see a securities building; you can park there!" Lin Ruoqiao pointed in the direction. Bai Yujing followed her instructions and dropped her off by the roadside. Although he found Lin Ruoqiao somewhat troublesome, they had traveled together and gotten to know each other a bit. Bai Yujing still said to her, "Be safe!"
"Following you two uncles is the most dangerous! Who knows when you might turn into hungry wolves? Now I can finally escape from the wolf's mouth! I'm free!" Lin Ruoqiao laughed heartily as she said something that made Bai Yujing and Li Hao want to spit blood. Then she disappeared around the corner by a hotel, with the back entrance of a residential area ahead.
Li Hao then asked, "Where are we going now?"
"The publisher booked me a CEO suite at a hotel. We're staying there tonight. I also need to write a review and do some promotion. Additionally, there's a restaurant that’s part of my assignment. We'll drop off our things at the hotel first and then go eat lunch at that restaurant," Bai Yujing replied after thinking for a moment; it was just in time to complete his task as well.
"Let's go directly to Qinzhou this afternoon and see if we can find the location. I have searched for Shuiyuan Village on the map for a long time but couldn't find it. The old professor's memory is also hazy; after all, it's been decades, and I don't know how much it has changed. We estimate it will take some time to verify the address, but I don't think it should be too troublesome."
Li Hao nodded, "Then let's do as you say."

"Mr. Ma, it seems the other party has noticed us!" A man wearing a cowboy hat and holding a camera spoke into his phone from the back of a van.
Ma Dong was busy stirring up a scandal when he heard this and immediately became furious: "You're useless! Aren't you supposed to be a professional? How could you be discovered so quickly?"
The man quickly replied, "They have professionals too! However, I got an important clue from their conversation."
Ma Dong immediately asked, "What clue?"
"It seems they are investigating something. I suspect it might be related to a treasure, and there's also a wealthy second-generation individual searching for it with them. I think it's quite significant," the Cowboy Hat Man said excitedly. "Mr. Ma, just imagine this person's identity; isn't he a Treasure Hunter? The current luxury houses, luxury cars, and signing contracts with companies and publishers all come from this. I'm pretty sure it's spot on!"
Ma Dong originally held a grudge against Bai Yujing and wanted to dig up some scandal about him to ruin his reputation. He didn't expect to gain unexpected insights instead. Imagining the money Bai Yujing made, it seemed much easier and faster than his own hard work, braving the wind and rain every day while risking retaliation from others. It wasn't fair.
Thinking of this, Ma Dong immediately said into the phone, "Keep a close watch on them. I'll double the promised service fee; if there are any results, you won't miss out on your share. Report any problems or findings to me immediately."
"Okay, Mr. Ma, don't worry; I'm a professional!"
