Man has lived for a long time; she has no concept of time. She was born in the sea and has only seen a few of her kind besides her mother. Her mother told her they came from a place called Atlantis.
Man's tribe has a long lifespan and possesses unique advantages. They are skilled at nurturing their own spirituality and can control other beings through their spirit. They are the rulers of the sea, known as mermaids, Sirens, Sharkmen, and various other names.
Even so, their numbers continue to dwindle. Eventually, Man no longer encountered any of her kin. She thought of Atlantis and wanted to find it, believing it must be a paradise where her people lived!
In the end, she was surrounded by a group of humans who sought immortality and perished in this seaside village. Man's dream remained unfulfilled, which was a pity; even the Shark Pearl was taken from her, a treasure she had nurtured over many years.
Bai Yujing listened to Man's story. Man spoke slowly and casually, telling Bai Yujing that even after her death, she continued to exist here through her spirit, surviving in this area. However, now it was finally time to say goodbye.
Bai Yujing could sense Man's emotions: her loneliness over the long years, her longing for companionship, and the slight regret of unfulfilled wishes.
"Do you want me to help you find Atlantis?" Bai Yujing asked.
Man eagerly replied, "Yes!"
Bai Yujing hesitated and said, "That doesn't seem like an easy task."
"I believe you can do it; I can feel it in my bones!" Bai Yujing sensed Man circling around her, yet she could not see her.
Bai Yujing said, "Is that so? I can give it a try!"
"I have a scale in my navel. Take it with you and place it in Atlantis; that is my wish."
Bai Yujing moved closer and indeed saw a silver scale in Man's navel that was different from the rest. When she touched it, it gently fell off. Bai Yujing carefully collected it.
"Thank you. There is an entrance to a secret chamber behind me. That woman placed some things inside; they might be useful to you. However, you'll need to drain the water here before you can open it. Goodbye, Bai Yujing."
Bai Yujing had not yet reacted when he saw Man's body suddenly slip and fall directly into the pool. He watched as her body turned around, facing him, slowly descending into the abyss, submerging into the boundless sea. In the hazy water, it seemed as if he could see Man smiling at him, her smile like a blooming flower, breathtakingly beautiful. Her blue hair spread out like seaweed, flowing gracefully in the water.
"Ah," Bai Yujing felt a bit regretful; perhaps he had accidentally touched her earlier. However, after thinking about it, sinking into the ocean might be the best outcome, and this could also be Man's choice.
At that moment, Bai Yujing remembered what Man had said about the secret room entrance. "Wait, you haven't told me how to drain the water!"
Bai Yujing immediately began to inspect around the edge of the pool and soon found a turntable covered in water plants on a nearby platform. When he brushed aside the plants, he was startled by an ugly black fish that darted out from inside.
"This should be the mechanism to drain the water!" Bai Yujing placed his hand on it and pushed hard. He immediately saw the turntable start to rotate. Pushing forward with all his strength, he noticed that the water flow became more rapid. Bai Yujing recalled seeing something like a giant millstone in that room earlier; this turntable was the switch to open the sluice gate, and increasing the flow would activate the millstone mechanism.
Thinking of this, Bai Yujing pushed even harder on the turntable and saw water rushing out rapidly. The water from the seabed continuously seeped upwards as a heavy valve below was pushed open, gradually sealing off this pool along with the sea.
"Ah!" Bai Yujing felt as if he had exerted all his strength just to manage to seal off this pool. Now he had effectively blocked off the inlet for seawater.
Next was to drain all the water from within the Underground Palace. Bai Yujing immediately shouted outside, "Li Hao! Li Hao! Can you hear me? This is Bai Yujing."
"I hear you, Old Bai! Is everything okay down there?" Li Hao asked anxiously. He had called several times without a response; if it weren't for the fact that they could still see images on the detector, he would have thought something had happened to him.
Bai Yujing quickly replied, "It's done! Get ready on your end. Just like I did before, activate each well's mechanism—open both doors in the middle section. I need to drain all the water from here before you find a way to come in."
"Got it! I'll send someone right away. Xiao Zhang, take people over there; everyone..."
Bai Yujing then found a pillar behind him and tied himself securely with a rope he had brought along. After confirming everything was fine, he told Li Hao, "Alright, you all can start draining water together."
Bai Yujing immediately felt a continuous rumbling sound echo throughout the Underground Palace. Then suddenly, water began swirling around him and rushed out frantically. He could feel the water beside him rushing past with great force, pulling him towards the exit like a magnet.
The water flow continuously shook Bai Yujing up and down, like a sieve. Then Bai Yujing heard a clear sound of a bang and suddenly thought to himself that it was bad. Before he could react, he was swept away by the massive water flow, roaring outward.
"Oh no, this is bad!"
Bai Yujing immediately grabbed onto the water trough below him, but it provided no resistance at all, directly carrying Bai Yujing out of the main hall and rolling into the passageway, crashing against the valve. At this point, the water had mostly drained away; the most intense moment had passed. In the end, the entire Underground Palace was drained of water, revealing a vast damp palace.
Bai Yujing felt dazed and sensed that someone had removed his mask. He patted his face and slowly opened his eyes.
"Old Bai, how are you? Are you okay?" Li Hao and Lin Ruoqiao looked at him with concern. Bai Yujing felt somewhat gratified; these two cared about him.
Unexpectedly, Li Hao then said, "Don't die on me! You haven't told me what you found down there yet; I'm counting on you!"
"Cough cough cough! Get lost!"
Bai Yujing and Li Hao entered the Underground Palace again, this time accompanied by several Security Personnel. As they looked at the enormous Underground Palace, each one of them gaped in astonishment.
"How could such a large structure have been built back then?"
"Yeah, in such a small village, there's such a huge building underground. Look at those mechanisms; it's simply unbelievable!"
"Those must be luminous gems up there; this is a real treasure! I've never seen anything like this before!"
"It must be night pearls!"
"Impossible, they're gems!"
The crowd was in a heated discussion, while Bai Yujing took the lead and walked inside. Upon reaching the central altar and pool, everything had changed dramatically. The aquatic plants were not growing deeply here, and most of the skeletons had been washed away by the current, revealing a clean and massive altar.
The altar stood several meters high, with each stair about half a meter tall, constructed in an imposing manner. Following the location mentioned by Man earlier, Bai Yujing finally found a stone slab that could be pushed open and a wooden door sealed with wax on top of the stairs.
After pushing it open, Bai Yujing shone his flashlight inside and saw wooden boxes arranged within. Upon opening one, he was dazzled by the golden gleam reflecting back at him; inside were gold ingots, larger at both ends and smaller in the middle, resembling a boat. Bai Yujing picked one up to examine it and saw it was inscribed with "Year 46 of Wanli, purchased by Xu Guanglu and others from the Ministry of Revenue in Wanping County."
Looking further down, he noticed that each box had inscriptions on it. Each box contained about forty pieces. Li Hao over there also made a discovery: "I found two boxes here as well! All gold."
Bai Yujing took two steps to the side and discovered two boxes of porcelain and several boxes of copper coins. Together, they were estimated to be quite valuable. However, Bai Yujing was captivated by a white jade bottle on the shelf. He immediately walked over, grasped the bottle in his hand; it was small, about palm-sized, and seemed to contain some liquid flowing within, tightly sealed. Shining his flashlight on it revealed a faint red liquid glowing through.
At that moment, Li Hao was immersed in the joy of treasure hunting. "Everyone be careful! Don't worry; those who came down with me today will definitely receive rewards. I guarantee everyone will be satisfied. However, when it comes to these treasures, no one is allowed to disclose anything outside."
Speaking of these treasures—less than ten boxes—Li Hao thought they weren't worth much; they probably wouldn't even reach a hundred million in value. But the sense of achievement from finding treasure and the story behind it was enough for Young Master Li to boast about for some time.
Li Hao held considerable authority among these people; even in front of so much gold and silver treasure, everyone still listened to his commands. They immediately shouted, "Don't worry, Young Master Li! Do you not trust us? How much is the reward?"
Li Hao quickly replied, "Am I stingy? Of course it's..."
Bai Yujing interrupted Li Hao's speech, saying to him, "I found it!"
Hearing Bai Yujing's shout, everyone quickly gathered around to look at the bottle in his hand. "Could it be that one?"
Bai Yujing nodded, and Li Hao immediately dashed over. All the gold and silver treasures and antiques were abandoned at the side as he gazed excitedly at the bottle in Bai Yujing's hand; this was truly an unparalleled treasure.
