"Ha!" Bethany stretched lazily and suddenly sat up in bed.
When she woke up, the sky was already bright. Emma was downstairs preparing breakfast, while Bai Yujing had gotten up early to go for a run and take in the sights of London.
Bethany rubbed her eyes but then heard a cat's meow. She immediately looked toward the source of the sound and saw a strange cat-like creature crouching on the balcony. The cat looked similar to an ordinary cat, completely white, but what was different was that it had a pair of long white wings on its back.
The morning sunlight streamed in through the window, with the curtains pulled back gently swaying on either side. The cat basked in the warm sunlight, its wings spread wide, truly resembling an angel descending.
"Ah!" Bethany screamed, kicking off the covers in her nightgown and rushing toward the balcony. "Kitty, little kitty, are you here to find me?"
"Meow!" The winged cat softly called out.
Bethany seemed to truly understand the cat's language: "Okay, okay, so that's how it is!"
"Meow!"
"Um, I want my mom and dad to always be with me, and also, I want to go to school like my other classmates and play everywhere!" Bethany thought hard for a moment before closing her eyes and telling the winged cat.
At that moment, the winged cat spread its wings again. When Bethany opened her eyes, she saw that the cat seemed to emit waves of white light. A feather fell from the cat's wing and floated down into Bethany's hand.
The cat then immediately turned and flew away, spreading its wings like a hawk as it soared into the clouds. Bethany held the feather tightly in her hand, her mouth agape.
"Ah! Angel Cat! Ah!" Bethany exclaimed, holding the feather and happily stomping her feet as she ran around the room. Then she jumped onto her bed, bouncing around like she was on a trampoline.
At that moment, Emma came upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door. "Bethany, stop messing around! Hurry up and wash your face and brush your teeth; it's time for breakfast!"
"Sister! Sister!" As soon as Bethany saw Emma, she jumped into her arms. Emma caught her immediately. "Alright, stop being silly; I'll help you wash your face and brush your teeth!"
Bethany excitedly said while gesturing with her hands to describe what she had just seen: "Just now on the balcony, I saw such a big White Cat!"
"White Cat? It might be someone's pet that wandered up here!" Emma thought for a moment before replying.
"Not at all, it's a pure white big cat! It has such long wings on its back!" Bethany continued.
Emma laughed, "A cat with wings? It might be the legendary Angel Cat!"
"Angel Cat?" Bethany became excited again upon hearing the name, flailing her arms in Emma's embrace. "That's right! The cat told me its name is Angel Cat, and it said it was called here by Dudu! Look, it even gave me this!"
At that moment, Emma noticed the feather that Bethany was holding. The feather was pure white, light and soft, seemingly emitting a faint glow. "This might be a gift from Angel Cat! Grandpa once told me that Angel Cat grants a wish to those who summon it. Dudu must have helped you call Angel Cat to make your wish come true!"
Emma wiped Bethany's little face clean and, after brushing her teeth, took her hand and walked out. Dudu was lying on an ornate vintage armchair, glancing at the excited Bethany with a wide grin.
Bai Yujing also ran back from outside and sat at the dining table, listening to Emma recount the earlier story. She looked at Bethany, who was overjoyed in her chair, one hand eating while the other tightly clutched the feather given to her by Angel Cat.
"Oh! It seems Dudu really likes you! Dudu did a great job this time!" Bai Yujing patted Dudu's head.
Bethany immediately shouted, "Of course! Dudu likes me the most! Dudu, come over here!"
At that moment, the Exotic Creature Hunter System in Bai Yujing's mind suddenly issued a mission: "Main mission released: Find D-Class Anomaly Angel Cat. Reward: 100 points!"
"Side mission 1: Find Healing Spring Gold Plate. Reward: 50 points!"
Bai Yujing didn't expect the mission to come at this moment; it was quite sudden. She carefully asked Bethany about her encounter with Angel Cat, but the information she received was limited.
"Can I see that feather?" Bai Yujing pointed at the white feather tightly held in Bethany's hand.
Bethany became nervous instantly, as if protecting a precious treasure. Looking at Bai Yujing, she seemed to view her as an enemy trying to snatch away her treasure. "Absolutely not! This is a gift from Angel Cat; no one else can touch it!"
Emma chuckled, "Bethany treasures it so much that she won't even let her sister touch it. I'm sad now; in Bethany's heart, even her sister can't compare to a cat!"
"That's not true! This is an agreement between Bethany and Angel Cat!" Bethany pouted angrily.
Bai Yujing suddenly remembered the little boy on the plane; children seem to have no resistance to promises and fantastical events. Finally, Bai Yujing looked at Totoro Dudu sitting on its special throne eating. Since Angel Cat was summoned by Dudu, perhaps they could find a breakthrough through it.
Dudu, who was engrossed in eating, had no idea that a certain unscrupulous individual had already set their sights on it.
After finishing breakfast, Emma immediately wrapped a scarf around her neck, grabbed her backpack, and headed out the door. "Sorry, Ian, but I have two important classes today, and I also need to look up some information at the library, so I can't accompany you!"
Bai Yujing nodded. "That's fine; I can just wander around here by myself."
After exchanging a kiss, Emma quickly left and got into her car. The Imperial College London, where Emma studied, was located in the South Kensington District, not too far from here, making it convenient for her to travel back and forth. This was also why Emma had bought this house; she indeed planned to settle in London as she loved the city very much.
Bai Yujing had his own plans for the day. Returning to the living room, he changed into a different outfit, took a map and the travel card Emma had given him, and headed down the stairs. At that moment, Bethany was in the living room watching the animated movie 101 Dalmatians.
"Bethany, I might be going out for a bit, but I'll bring you something delicious for lunch!" Bai Yujing said to Bethany.
Bethany looked a bit disappointed but nodded nonetheless. She then pointed at Dudu and pouted, "Dudu has been avoiding me and won't let me hold it!"
Bai Yujing immediately glanced at Dudu nearby. It seemed that Dudu would have to be sacrificed for this. As soon as Dudu saw Bai Yujing's gaze, it knew something was off and started to run away on its short little legs. However, Bai Yujing was already prepared and quickly blocked Dudu's path, grabbing it!
"Dudu, come watch TV with Bethany. If you're good, I'll bring you some unique London beer when I get back!" Bai Yujing said as he placed Dudu into Bethany's arms.
Dudu immediately extended two fingers: Bai Yujing understood its meaning right away. "Okay, no problem!"
Holding Dudu in her arms made Bethany happy again; she showed no signs of her earlier disappointment. Even Bai Yujing's farewell as he left didn't catch her attention; her eyes were completely focused on Dudu.
