The starry sky in Shuiyuan Village is very clear. This season is relatively dry, and that night was a cloudless good weather. Bai Yujing leaned against the window and could see the bright starry sky outside, which is quite rare in this heavily polluted era.
"Still not asleep?" The door was pushed open, and a man saw Bai Yujing leaning out of the window and immediately walked in.
Bai Yujing turned around and nodded, "Just thinking about some things!"
The man was Old Man's Son. He had been working outside with his wife and children, but recently, since the family shop's business was doing well and there were changes in his hometown, he decided to come back to help his father with the business.
"Looking at the stars? I lived in this house when I was a child. Back then, my textbooks talked about constellations, and I used to look for them with my book. But no matter how hard I tried, I could never match them up!" The man laughed heartily, then changed the subject, "By the way, my mom made some late-night snacks tonight. Do you want to come down and have some?"
Bai Yujing had something on his mind, so he was a bit distracted while speaking and didn't really listen. Finally, as he was groggily heading downstairs, he suddenly realized, "What did you just say?"
The man looked a bit confused: "I said my mom made some late-night snacks. Do you want to come down and eat?"
"No, no! It was the sentence before that!" Bai Yujing became a bit anxious.
Old Man's Son had just mentioned it casually earlier but paused to think for a moment: "I said that when I was a kid, I often looked at the stars and tried to find their positions based on the constellations in my textbook!"
Bai Yujing immediately ran back to his room and looked up at the sky. After a long time, he excitedly said, "Not a map! It's a star chart! A star chart! I got it all wrong!"
Old Man's Son felt puzzled and couldn't grasp what was happening. He thought Bai Yujing seemed strange. Bai Yujing realized what he had figured out and said to him, "Sorry, I just solved a problem that has been bothering me for a long time. I won't have any late-night snacks!"
"Then I'll bring some up for you later!"
"No need, that would be too much trouble for you!"
Bai Yujing immediately took the Center out of the backpack and held it in his hand. Previously, Bai Yujing had been projecting the patterns on the back of the Center by shining a light on it, thinking that this was the correct way to use it. He had been pleasantly surprised when he discovered this situation.
However, reflecting on it now, he realized that he might have made a mistake at that time; the Center was not meant to display maps in that way. The Center resembled an eyeball, with the central droplet resembling a vertical pupil. The droplet also bore a circular mark, similar to a pupil, indicating that this design was intentional rather than accidental.
This pupil was like an eye. When Bai Yujing aligned it with his own eyes, he felt as if his gaze was locked with the pupil. The two eyes seemed to peer into each other across endless ages. Through his eyes, Bai Yujing could see the interior of the Center, which resembled a galaxy filled with countless twinkling stars that flickered and changed with the movements of celestial bodies.
It was an ancient star map, and the brightest feature was a constellation that seemed to be at the very center of the map. The entire star map was exquisitely beautiful, slowly rotating and transforming layer by layer. Bai Yujing felt as if he could glimpse the mysteries of the universe through this eye.
"Is it really like this?" Bai Yujing's emotions were complex. After uncovering the secret of the Center, he should have felt excited and happy. However, he couldn't help but think that it was precisely because of his earlier misguided guidance that Hu Ying had gone astray and ultimately lost his life. He truly felt he had led him to ruin.
It turned out that it wasn't a map at all, nor was there any secret code related to infrasound. At first, Bai Yujing had found it intriguing and somewhat reasonable, even though he didn't fully understand it. But now he realized that this was a guide left by the descendants of Atlantis for their future generations; how could it possibly be so complicated?
No wonder Man had told him that once he obtained the Center, he would naturally know where Atlantis was located. By holding this Center and looking up at the sky at night while corresponding it with the star map above, one would easily determine Atlantis's position.
The star maps visible from various corners of the world showed completely different positions of stars in the sky. However, the star map left within the Center could be used to deduce its original observation point. Even someone as clueless as Bai Yujing could simply hold the Center up to the sky and compare it bit by bit to find out where Atlantis was located. For Merfolk, who lived long lives and possessed certain special abilities, this was hardly a problem.
"We overcomplicated things!" Bai Yujing sighed. However, currently in Shuiyuan Village, there was nothing available; he needed to return and gather extensive information along with consulting relevant experts to finally pinpoint Atlantis's location using the star map. Fortunately, the hardest part had already been overcome; what lay ahead would be relatively easier.
Bai Yujing held up the Center and looked around at the sky, hoping to discover something. However, lacking understanding of astronomy, he ultimately found himself no different from Old Man's Son—just aimlessly looking without seeing anything.
After putting down the Center and placing it back in its box, he heard a shout from behind: "Hurry up! It's getting hot!"
Bai Yujing turned around and immediately saw Old Man's Son bringing a large bowl of food. Bai Yujing quickly stepped forward to take the bowl and carefully placed it on the table. "How can I let you do this? You even brought it yourself."
Old Man's Son smiled, "It's nothing, really. To be honest, our village has been struggling for a long time, but thanks to you, things have started to change recently. This entire area has been designated as a scenic spot, including the resort you planned. Our town has been divided into a Folk Experience Zone, with the Natural Forest Area in front, and the Water Source Village Ruins Area. This includes your seaside Hotel Cluster Area and Ecological Park, along with a large number of attractions that are in the planning stages. This area is going to undergo tremendous changes and development; it's incredible! Our village is benefiting from your efforts!"
Bai Yujing didn't expect Old Man's Son to be so knowledgeable about the situation and nodded, "No need to be polite; we're just doing business. It's all about mutual benefit!"
"Exactly, exactly!"
Bai Yujing looked down at the bowl on the table, which contained Snail Noodles—smooth Rice Noodles topped with pickled bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, peanuts, fried tofu skin, daylilies, and greens. "Did Aunt make this? It looks really good!"
"Absolutely! My mom's cooking is top-notch, and this flavor is truly authentic. You have to try it; you definitely can't find this outside!" Old Man's Son gave a thumbs up.
Bai Yujing picked up his chopsticks and took a big bite. The Rice Noodles mixed with the rich and balanced sour-spicy flavor and the broth from the cooked snails were tangy and smooth, making it quite delicious. "Mmm, mmm, mmm! So good!"
As Bai Yujing ate, he kept giving a thumbs up!
