Bai Yujing lifted his head and said, "According to the terms of the deal, you need to release the hostage and then hand over the supplies to us!"
Catherine nodded, "But Mr. Bai, you still haven't told us where the ruins of Atlantis are!"
Bai Yujing immediately replied, "I'm right here; where could I possibly run off to? They know nothing. Keeping them here is completely useless. I must see my companions leave safely before I can proceed with the transaction!"
Catherine nodded again, "You're right, but I have one more question. Mr. Bai, can you tell me where the Center is?"
Bai Yujing calmly met her gaze, "Once you fulfill your promise, you'll know where it is!"
Catherine frowned slightly, her beautiful face showing a hint of determination. However, in this situation, no one had the mood to appreciate beauty. Catherine clapped her hands, and immediately saw Li Xiang's ropes being untied and his mouth being freed.
As soon as Li Xiang was released, he shouted at Bai Yujing, "The White Collar Team must not agree to their demands!"
At that moment, the atmosphere in the activity room was tense. Bai Yujing stood up and smoothed out the wrinkles on Li Xiang's clothes. "Alright, you take these two boxes of supplies outside; Zhou Jun is waiting for you!"
As they got closer, Bai Yujing quietly asked, "Who killed Liu Xinwu?"
Li Xiang gritted his teeth and replied, "It was Liu Hai!"
Bai Yujing smiled and raised his head, patting Li Xiang on the shoulder. "Okay, you can go now. Then you all leave here immediately and return to Zhongshan Station!"
Catherine watched as Li Xiang, carrying two large wooden boxes almost as tall as himself, slowly moved them outside. Finally, during his second trip, he brought back the Center from Zhou Jun, placing it into Bai Yujing's hands.
Catherine took the Center, her eyes revealing a look of fascination. For such a beautiful stone, women were like dragons, eager to possess them all. The people around her joined in excitement, though most did not understand the true significance of the Center. Only Catherine knew.
After securing the Center, Catherine turned to Bai Yujing and said, "Mr. Bai, can you now tell us where the ruins of Atlantis are?"
Bai Yujing nodded, "It won't help to tell you the exact location; I'll take you there directly tomorrow!"
Catherine jumped down from the table and moved closer to Bai Yujing, "I hope you won't pull any tricks. I'm a fan of Mr. Bai, you know. I've been following your books and Twitter. If you do something extreme, I would feel very regretful!"
Bai Yujing smiled and said, "This is Antarctica; what tricks could I possibly pull here?"
Paul seemed somewhat displeased with the way Catherine and Bai Yujing were talking, snorting coldly, "Just know this, kid: I hope you understand what kind of situation you're in right now. Here, it doesn't matter how famous or well-known you are!"
Bai Yujing nodded, "I understand!"
--------------
Early the next morning, everyone set off on snowboards, dragging sleds as they began their journey. Liu Hai spoke fluent English, as if he had truly integrated into this group of foreigners.
Seeing Bai Yujing silent and looking down, Liu Hai seemed to want to assert his presence or perhaps cover up his own cowardice and shame. "So, how about the White Collar Team joins us? After what you've done, there won't be a place for you back home. You might as well fully align with us; Commander Catherine will arrange a new identity for you. It doesn't matter if people recognize your face; with plastic surgery, no one will notice!"
Bai Yujing glanced over at Catherine and then at Yellow Sea, "I'll think about it!"
Yellow Sea noticed that Bai Yujing was being dismissive. When their eyes met, he felt a strange disdain from Bai Yujing and immediately thought that Bai Yujing was looking down on him. "Don't push your luck; do you think you're still the team leader? You're nothing now; your reputation is ruined! You won't seize this opportunity; do you think you have other choices? You fool."
"Fool? That's not something a traitor like you should say. I don't think you'll have a good ending; I swear!"
Bai Yujing grabbed Yellow Sea by the neck and lifted him up. Immediately, Yellow Sea's plump body began to struggle. At that moment, Paul noticed what was happening and pushed Bai Yujing hard, causing him to release Yellow Sea.
"Ugh! Cough cough!" Yellow Sea gasped for air after being released and looked at Bai Yujing with a hint of fear, no longer daring to approach him.
Paul poked Bai Yujing in the chest and said, "You better behave; I'll be watching you closely!"
Bai Yujing stepped onto the snowboard, dragging a sled behind him, and began to move forward slowly. At first, he found it strange that these people hadn't brought Snowmobiles. Did they really hike all the way here? It wasn't until he heard their conversation that he understood they had to cross a glacier ahead, which Snowmobiles couldn't navigate, so they left all the Snowmobiles behind.
Counting the group, including Catherine, there were a total of six people, among them Liu Hai. The most threatening ones seemed to be Paul and a silent man named John. Both were well-trained, agile, and very alert. Even in this frigid environment with temperatures below zero degrees Celsius, they maintained a good mental state. The other two included a driver and a balding middle-aged man who appeared to be a professional like Wen Feng.
The guy named Paul stayed right behind Bai Yujing, keeping a close watch on him to prevent any sudden moves. Bai Yujing could only ride his snowboard and drag the sled while walking in the middle of the group.
Catherine found Bai Yujing with the map and asked, "Which way should we go now?"
Looking at the map, Bai Yujing pointed in a direction and said, "We should head this way!"
Catherine nodded and replied, "Mr. Bai, you wouldn't intentionally lead us astray, would you? Without us here, you have no chance of survival. Only by helping us find Atlantis can we return to civilization together. I think you understand this well!"
Bai Yujing nodded but remained silent.
At that moment, winter in Antarctica had fully set in. The cold under the polar night was so intense that even heavy down jackets offered little protection. Once outside the base, it felt like a fight for survival; at any moment, someone might collapse from exhaustion. One of the middle-aged white men in Catherine's group had already suffered frostbite on his nose, which looked dark and alarming. Although he had wrapped his face with a scarf, frostbite in Antarctica was nearly irreversible.
Everyone understood that his nose was likely beyond saving. Last night, Bai Yujing had heard cries from this man's room, which prompted John to angrily shout until it finally stopped.
The group pressed on against the biting wind and light snow, leaving long trails in the snow with their sleds. In the darkness, their silhouettes flickered in and out of view as they trudged through the icy wilderness of Antarctica.
