Bai Yujing and Emma transferred in Frankfurt and arrived in Stavanger, southern Norway. Stavanger appeared to be a small city, but it was actually the fourth largest city in Norway. Being close to the sea, it was a port city, making it very convenient for Bai Yujing and others for their upcoming actions. Bai Yujing had arranged to meet with people from McLeod Medical Group here.
The airport was small, so Bai Yujing and Emma easily found the exit and came out of the airport. They immediately saw someone sent by McLeod Group to pick up Bai Yujing. Upon closer inspection, Bai Yujing noticed that it was a thin man with dark skin and a small mustache, who surprisingly looked Asian.
"Hello, are you Chinese?" Bai Yujing walked over and shook hands with the person who came to pick him up.
The man nodded, "Yes, I heard that a fellow countryman from China was coming, so I was sent to pick you up. I didn't expect you to be such a big name; you can call me Shen Fei!"
Bai Yujing felt that this person looked somewhat familiar but couldn't recall who he was. The man appeared thin and worn, clearly someone used to working hard outdoors. Although he was a bit skinny, he seemed to be in good shape from years of exercise. "What brings you to Norway?" Bai Yujing asked.
Shen Fei eagerly helped Bai Yujing and Emma load their luggage into the car. Shen Fei drove an Audi that looked nearly new; it probably wasn't his car. "I came here a few years ago with relatives. Later, when they went back, I stayed here. I used to work as a security guard and drove a taxi, but then I started driving for Boss and it's pretty easy work; the salary is good too!"
After chatting with Shen Fei, Bai Yujing felt that he was very knowledgeable about the area, like someone who had been living in Norway for a long time. Bai Yujing set aside his doubts; he indeed did not know this person.
Once inside the car and buckled up, Bai Yujing asked Shen Fei, "What language do people generally speak in Norway? English?"
After starting the vehicle, Shen Fei raised his finger and replied, "You're not wrong to say that; people here generally speak English. However, the common language is Norwegian. But if you can speak English, that's enough; most people can understand it!"
Bai Yujing nodded, "Oh!"
Emma covered her mouth and laughed, "You could have just asked me! Norway isn't far from England; I came here with my dad when I was little. By the way, my dad attended my graduation ceremony but didn't see you. He was very angry and said he would make sure to see you next time!"
Bai Yujing's mouth dropped open in surprise: "Really?!"
Emma immediately replied, "Yes! So be prepared for your next visit to my house!"
"Emma, you have to save me! You're going to help me, right?" Bai Yujing immediately said with a mournful face!
Emma nodded seriously, "I will stand by my dad's side!"
Bai Yujing instantly leaned into Emma's embrace, and Emma blushed deeply. She had no choice but to compromise with Bai Yujing and promised to speak well of her next time.
Stavanger is the fourth largest city in Norway and serves as a commercial and fishing port in the Boknafjord on Norway's west coast. However, its population is only around 110,000, which is even less than that of a larger town back home. The transportation system appears quite complex, with many ring roads and junctions, and most of the signs are in Norwegian, making it difficult for an average person to find the right way.
Perhaps due to its proximity to the UK, Stavanger has inherited the UK's long-standing drizzly weather. It was drizzling lightly, causing the scenery along the roads to become somewhat blurred. Most houses in Norway have a cartoonish feel with pointed roofs, and they like to paint their houses in vibrant colors, giving a charming atmosphere as one passes by.
As they turned down a street, Bai Yujing spotted a triangular building with a café at the bottom. The sides sloped down along the road, which was quite interesting. After walking a bit further, Shen Fei said to Bai Yujing, "We've arrived; it's right here!"
Shen Fei was very attentive and helped Bai Yujing and the others take down their luggage, even carrying it up to their room. His enthusiasm made Bai Yujing feel a bit embarrassed; he seemed like a nice person—perhaps because he had been away for so long and rarely saw fellow countrymen?
Bai Yujing escorted Shen Fei to the door. "Thank you! This is..."
Shen Fei immediately declined, waving his hands repeatedly. "No need for that! I was instructed by Mr. Bivis to pick you up; this really isn't necessary. By the way, here are the car keys. The car downstairs is provided for you; you can drive around and explore. The scenery in Norway is quite beautiful, especially during this season—it's perfect for sightseeing!"
"Tomorrow, Mr. Bivis will contact you. Please try not to go out in the morning. If you have any issues, you can call me at this number; I live nearby and will come over right away!"
Shen Fei took out a business card from his pocket; it was in English. Bai Yujing glanced at it and nodded, "Okay!"
Emma walked around the room for a bit before coming out and wrapping her arms around Bai Yujing's waist. "What's up? Does your old acquaintance seem too enthusiastic?"
Bai Yujing immediately looked at Emma: "Do you know what 'hometown' means?"
Emma immediately became unhappy, pouting: "I have been studying Chinese properly, don't think I don't understand what you are saying!"
Bai Yujing glanced around the room and felt that the McLeod Group was being too stingy. Thinking about how Li Hao always brought him along in a lavish manner, he felt that although the room arranged this time was not bad and he would be satisfied if he had booked it himself, it was still too cheap for the McLeod Group, as the inviting party.
Pouting, Bai Yujing immediately asked, "Emma, it's only morning. Do you want to go out for a stroll? Check out the local attractions and taste some local delicacies!"
Emma rolled over on the bed: "Now? It's raining outside!"
Bai Yujing nodded: "But we probably have a lot to do in the next few days and won't have much time to wander around. After we meet with Burton MacLeod's spokesperson Bivis tomorrow, we will discuss the specific action plan. We might head to Yangmayen Island the day after tomorrow. Although it's also part of Norway, there's nothing there; it's in an undeveloped area!"
Emma lazily turned over: "I don't want to move unless someone carries me!"
Bai Yujing immediately slapped Emma on her backside, and amidst her scream, he picked her up and rushed outside, making it down to the first floor in one go. Emma wrapped her arms around Bai Yujing's neck and started laughing.
"What do you think? Where should we go now?" Bai Yujing asked.
Emma sat in Bai Yujing's arms and thought for a moment: "Let's go see Pulpit Rock. It's the most famous attraction in Norway, and it's not far from here—just over an hour away. I came here with my father when I was a child, and he took a really cool picture of me!"
"Then I'll take your picture today!"
