"That skinny little guy wants to be a knight!" A group of Brats pushed another child to the ground. These kids were dressed quite differently from the farmers Bai Yujing had seen before; they wore very formal suits, impeccably tailored, with crisp white shirts underneath. The child on the ground struggled desperately but was continuously pushed down by the others.
"Ah!" The child on the ground got angry and jumped up, throwing a punch at the leader of the bullies. However, being so thin and small compared to the other kids, his punch lacked any real power. It merely caused the bully to tilt his head and fall back in surprise.
"You dare to resist? Beat him up!"
The group of children surrounded this outcast and began to beat him, leaving him bruised and battered. The fight among these giants was truly shocking; although they were just over ten years old, it felt like a battle between ancient deities, shaking the earth and sky.
A large amount of grass and dirt was kicked up, and those hiding in the distance, including Bai Yujing and others, saw massive stones falling from above, causing them to quickly dodge for cover. At that moment, adults rushed over, and the Brats scattered like birds fleeing from danger, laughing as they escaped.
The beaten child slowly sat up, crying in the corner outside the church.
Bai Yujing and Bivis hid in the nearby bushes, watching this child. "That's him; he should be suitable! We can get the information we need from him about Giant Country and where the Island of Life is!"
The Island of Life was where the Lake Fairy Clan lived and where the Fountain of Life was locked away. This was mentioned in Lemuel Gulliver's notes but only briefly without detailed descriptions.
Emma immediately asked, "How are we going to communicate with him?"
Bai Yujing looked at Shen Fei. "Take out the walkie-talkie from your backpack!"
Shen Fei looked puzzled but took out the walkie-talkie. Bai Yujing quickly turned up the volume to maximum and tested it; it buzzed loudly, which was quite startling.
"Let's go; we’ll approach him while you hide in his backpack!" Bai Yujing had already noticed the backpack left behind; it belonged to the beaten child. It could serve as a hiding place for them. The leather backpack looked new and shiny, with beautiful metal buttons on the front and decorative patterns on the back.
The group slowly approached from behind a half-meter-high patch of grass, one by one slipping into the backpack to hide. At that moment, Will Hackman looked at Bai Yujing, but Bai Yujing ran toward the giant: "Hey, buddy, what do you want to do?"
"I'll be right back!"
After Bai Yujing finished speaking, he continuously approached the little giant. The child was still crying, looking extremely sad. Bai Yujing climbed up along the hem of his clothes and then stood on his shoulder.
Due to the child's constant sobbing, his shoulder moved up and down, causing Bai Yujing to sway unsteadily and nearly fall off. Eventually, he managed to grab the collar at the back of the child's neck to stabilize himself.
Bai Yujing placed the walkie-talkie in the child's ear; the tiny device slipped into the ear canal, feeling like a small grain of sand. At that moment, the little giant seemed to sense something and turned his head to look back, scratching his ear. Bai Yujing quickly held onto his collar and hid in the gap between his outer and inner clothing.
"Pirus, oh, what's wrong? Did those kids bully you again?" The child's parents appeared to have just finished their prayers in the church and came out, seeing their child with a bruised face, feeling extremely heartbroken!
Pirus raised his little head: "No, I fell by myself!"
"Alright, alright, let's go home. Remember to stay away from those bad kids next time!" Pirus's mother pulled him up from the ground and led him toward the square. His father picked up Pirus's backpack and helped him put it on; it was a messenger bag.
Bai Yujing bent down deeply to prevent these two giants from noticing him. Once the family of three held hands and got into a somewhat luxurious carriage, Bai Yujing slowly crawled out from behind the collar of the child's clothing, grabbing onto it as he made his way down and then stood on top of the backpack.
"This way, this way!" A head popped out from inside the backpack; it was Huckman and Hank. Bai Yujing extended his hand to Huckman, who jumped down from a hollow space on the side of the backpack.
Inside the backpack was somewhat dim; it seemed like there were books beneath them. Emma and others were also hiding inside. Bai Yujing immediately said excitedly, "We did it! And this kid seems to come from a good family; we can use his strength to accomplish many things."
"So what's your next plan?" Bivis was most concerned about this!
Bai Yujing quickly explained his recent actions: "Through the walkie-talkie in his ear, we can communicate without meeting him face-to-face. We can impersonate a deity or perhaps a fairy. The Fairy Clan lives above the Island of Life, and they likely have some knowledge as well. We can learn what we want from him and even manipulate him to help us with things we can't do ourselves!"
Hank nodded: "That's a great idea!"
Everyone looked at each other and agreed with Bai Yujing's proposal. Bai Yujing took out a walkie-talkie, made a gesture for silence, then took a deep breath and turned on the device.
"Pirus, Pirus!"
The little giant Pirus was startled and immediately looked around, but saw nothing. It was his mother who looked at him and asked, "Pirus, what's wrong?"
"I think I heard someone calling my name!" Pirus said, feeling somewhat confused.
His mother patted his head and said, "No one is calling you; you might just be too tired today and need to rest!"
"Spiller, do you want to become stronger? Strong enough to easily defeat those who just bullied you and become a true, powerful knight!"
Spiller was stunned and turned his head in disbelief. Bai Yujing quickly added, "You can't see me; I am from the Fairy Clan's Angel Bird Clan. I am communicating with you through your mind. Just nod or shake your head in response to what I say!"
Spiller was a child who had only heard of such fantastical events in novels and from bards. He never expected to encounter one in reality, which made his hands clench tightly in excitement as he eagerly nodded.
Bai Yujing observed Spiller's actions through the gap in the backpack and continued after he nodded, "So, do you wish to become stronger? I have a secret technique that can help you become a knight. If mastered deeply, it can even awaken your Fighting Spirit, making you a true master of power!"
"Fighting Spirit? The one that only heroes can use in legends?" Spiller couldn't contain himself and whispered excitedly.
Bai Yujing was taken aback for a moment but quickly followed up on his words: "That's right! I came from the Island of Life specifically to find the next hero. Young man, are you willing to accept my legacy and become a hero to save the world?"
