"Damn it, I should have thought of this earlier. The stone door mentioned the boundary between life and death, and that big door is the entrance to the Underworld. The area we just occupied is the entrance, the boundary between reality and illusion!"
Bai Yujing suddenly realized, but it was already too late; several people had already stepped inside. This was a one-way ticket; once you entered, there was no going back.
Li Hao immediately said, "Then why did we appear in that corridor? Who could suddenly place us all in such a place?"
Bai Yujing's mind connected many dots and immediately looked at the Bronze Lantern on Li Hao: "It's this Bronze Lantern you have. I suspected it before; these Mountain Spirits definitely couldn't create something like this. So where did this Bronze Lantern come from? Without a doubt, it must have come from their former master, the Divine Clan Kuiwei!"
"This is the Underworld created by the Kuaiwei Clan, a place sought for eternal life. This Bronze Lantern may be what the Kuaiwei Clan left outside for their descendants to enter this place to honor their ancestors or guide the souls of the Kuaiwei Clan. We just walked through the passage of the dead, but the Kuaiwei Clan has been gone for nearly ten thousand years, and no new people have entered since then."
A Ling then said, "But this Mountain Spirit has held onto this Bronze Lantern for who knows how many years. They have been trying to find a way to use this Bronze Lantern to enter here, but it seems they have never succeeded!"
Bai Yujing immediately replied, "Didn't you say that to enter the divine mountain of the Kuaiwei Clan, you must have a descendant of the Kuaiwei Clan to lead the way? Otherwise, it's impossible to find the correct entrance. And isn't there a descendant of the Jiang Clan with us—Xu Lei? It seems something must have happened while we were resting last night; Xu Lei opened the entrance, so we were dragged here along with this Bronze Lantern!"
Lin Ruoqiao looked at Bai Yujing in surprise: "Are you saying Xu Lei is still alive and right here?"
Bai Yujing was both anxious and angry: "What are you laughing about? We're truly trapped in a dead end now. This is the Underworld! Do you understand? We are no longer in our original world or in Shennongjia; this time it's really over!"
A Ling looked into the distance: "Look over there; isn't that the divine mountain of the Kuaiwei Clan?"
Everyone followed A Ling's direction and looked over. This world was still shrouded in mist, or rather, it had finally gathered back the mist that originally enveloped the outside world and returned it to this realm. The entire world was dark, covered in clouds and fog, with not a glimmer of light visible.
However, in the distance stood a great mountain, its peak radiating a red glow as if flames were burning. The light emitted by the entire mountain appeared somewhat hazy, hidden within swirling clouds and mist. Yet on this dark land, there was only this one mountain and one source of light; everywhere else was barren flat land, making this place particularly eye-catching.
At that moment, Bai Yujing suddenly felt a chill behind him, as if something was getting closer, dangerous and cold. Bai Yujing immediately turned his head and looked back, "Who is behind me!"
Bai Yujing quickly shone the flashlight in that direction and immediately saw a shadow moving at an incredible speed, disappearing in an instant into the mist. However, Bai Yujing noticed that the soft ground had already left a pair of footprints. Just moments ago, this figure had been less than two meters away from him; at this distance, it could have killed him in an instant, and his injuries had not fully healed.
"Something is approaching us; everyone be careful!" Bai Yujing felt a chill run through his body and couldn't help but shout.
At this moment, Li Hao also raised the lantern and looked behind him. The flickering red and blue flames of the lantern seemed to carry a powerful deterrent force. Immediately, several black shadows around them appeared to be burned by the fire, letting out sharp, piercing screams before vanishing in an instant.
Everyone looked at the red and blue flames; what had initially seemed like an eerie glow now felt reassuring. The light from the flames transformed the area into a safe camp.
However, everyone felt as if numerous eyes were watching them from the dark depths of the mist. It seemed that these entities were too afraid of the Bronze Lantern and its flames to approach.
At this moment, Li Hao's hand gripping the Bronze Lantern was bulging with veins, his face pale and covered in cold sweat. Several people with guns formed a circle around Li Hao. Bai Yujing turned to look at Li Hao; only he, holding the Bronze Lantern, could see the true scene through the mist and the presence of those black shadows.
"What do you see?" Bai Yujing asked cautiously without turning his head.
Li Hao raised the lantern high; at this moment, he no longer found it heavy. He held it tightly and swallowed hard before looking at Bai Yujing. Through his pupils, Bai Yujing could see fear: "So many dead people!"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone present felt a shiver run down their spines, especially in this dimly lit place that resembled hell; it made them feel weak in the knees.
Bai Yujing took a deep breath: "How many? Are they surrounding us?"
Li Hao shook his head: "They seem to have retreated; they appear to be afraid of this Bronze Lantern. Didn't you say this was left by the Kuaiwei Clan for their descendants? It must have the power to restrain these spirits. Thankfully, we didn't throw it away earlier!"
Bai Yujing looked around. The flashlight's beam could illuminate the area, but it couldn't penetrate the fog. Looking down at the ground, Bai Yujing noticed at least five or six sets of footprints around where they were standing, which made him feel a bit uneasy.
However, Bai Yujing noticed something different. Most areas were overgrown with wild grass, but ahead, there was a clear path as if it had been deliberately cleared.
Li Hao also observed, "This path seems to lead to that mountain in the distance!"
After taking a look and shining the flashlight around, Bai Yujing saw another dark shadow flicker through the mist. As it crossed into the beam of light from the flashlight, it immediately vanished, leaving nothing around.
"Let's head to that sacred mountain; perhaps we will run into some familiar faces!"
Bai Yujing couldn't think of any better plan. However, this entrance opening was definitely related to Mountain Spirit. Those beings had unknown intentions, but it was clear that their goal was that sacred mountain. Everything here revolved around it; once they reached there, many things would become clear.
A Ling chuckled wryly, "We tried every possible way to find this place before, and now that we want to leave, we suddenly stumble in. This is truly bizarre!"
Zhong Qiang nodded in agreement, "You're right; this is indeed strange!"
