"Go in!"
The Red Consort's words were stern and devoid of any warmth. After pushing Bai Yujing inside, Bai Yujing couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy. A person's life, the shadow of a tree—this was a deity from ancient times. Even though it was known that legends and myths shouldn't be taken literally, given the situation, this was not someone an ordinary person could provoke. If even the powerful Red Consort claimed she was no match for them, then Bai Yujing's small arms and legs would likely not be enough to withstand even a few bites.
Inside the temple, the oil lamps were lit, casting a faint flickering light. The statue remained as it was, with a tall incense stick still burning. The air was filled with a subtle scent of incense, yet no figures could be seen; only the footsteps of Bai Yujing and the Red Consort could be heard as they entered.
"It seems like there's nothing here; it should have been..."
"Creak!"
At that moment, the side door of the main hall seemed to be blown open by the wind. Bai Yujing's words abruptly stopped as both of them focused intently on the door. Bai Yujing vaguely sensed that something was about to rush out!
"Run!"
The Red Consort grabbed Bai Yujing's arm. Bai Yujing immediately saw a tremendous force burst through the door, crashing so hard that the entire door frame and half of the wall shattered. The immense power left a deep mark on the ground.
Bai Yujing rolled on the ground and quickly hid behind. Looking over, he indeed saw what A Ling and Lin Ruoqiao had described—he couldn't make out what it looked like at all; he could only see a shadow.
"Thud! Thud!"
"Boom!"
"Crack!"
The immense power within the grand hall began to wreak havoc, and in an instant, the hall collapsed. The two parties quickly engaged in combat. Bai Yujing immediately noticed what seemed like two shadows intertwining on the ground. Although there was no visible material form, the destruction caused by these shadows was immense, as if they were interfering with the reality of the world.
The pillars and beams of the hall fell, tables were overturned, and the floor shattered into pieces, with cracks spreading like a spider web into the distance. It was as if two giants were grappling with each other. This phenomenon involving spiritual forms was far beyond what science could explain.
Bai Yujing could sense that although the divine beings' technology could not match that of Atlantis, their cultivation and application of spiritual energy likely surpassed Atlantis's developmental scope. These beings had not even transcended their planetary confines but had already begun to explore concepts like immortality and eternity. It was unclear whether they had succeeded, but the existence of these ancient beings could not be treated with the imagination reserved for primitive savages.
At this moment, the battle between both sides had completely dismantled the temple. Bai Yujing found himself desperately hiding and fleeing; compared to these two entities, he felt as insignificant as an ant. Their destructive power was akin to that of superhumans.
Red Consort showed no intention of calling for assistance from the Mountain Spirits outside, likely aware that those ordinary Mountain Spirits would be of no use. This being had no physical body; it was merely a living shadow or ghost.
At this moment, Red Consort seemed to have been careless and got caught by a shadow around her ankle. Bai Yujing watched as Red Consort was lifted by an elusive shadow, flailing like a mop amidst the debris of the fallen temple.
Bai Yujing gaped as he saw Red Consort being slammed against the temple structure, knocking down large sections of walls and pillars. With another heavy blow, even the ground shattered beneath them. Remarkably, Red Consort appeared unharmed; what kind of body was this? It was harder than steel.
Red Consort seemed to be enraged; with a roar, she unleashed a tremendous force that sent the shadows and indistinct entities flying away. This time, both sides were fighting with genuine ferocity. Bai Yujing observed as immense power clashed on the ground, causing further fractures in the floor and landslides of rocks. The original temple was reduced to scattered debris.
Outside, Li Hao and others were dumbfounded. Amidst the swirling dust, although visibility was poor, the sheer destructive force was comparable to that of a giant robot demolishing buildings with bare hands—definitely not an exaggeration.
At that moment, it seemed that the entire platform could no longer withstand the violent clash between the two monsters and instantly shattered, collapsing downwards. Bai Yujing did not expect that after these two beings had destroyed the temple, even the mountain supporting it could not hold up any longer and began to crumble downwards.
Bai Yujing quickly stepped onto a falling rock and ran towards the cliffside. Seizing a protruding rock just as it fell, he looked down in horror at Red Consort and that monster still locked in battle while plummeting downwards. Their destructive power was truly terrifying; however, if they continued to fall like this...
Just as Bai Yujing thought these two might be doomed, he heard Li Hao's shout from afar. At this moment, Li Hao was still over ten meters away from Bai Yujing; in between them lay a completely collapsed mountain section that had fallen into an abyss below—some even plunging directly into lava. The depth below combined with thick smoke made it impossible to discern what exactly was happening down there.
"Look up, look up!"
"Be careful!"
Bai Yujing heard the shouts of Li Hao and others, frantic and filled with panic, flailing about like monkeys. However, Bai Yujing had no intention of laughing; he sensed something was off.
Bai Yujing immediately looked up and saw a large mass of rubble falling down. He was right in the line of fire. Bai Yujing opened his mouth wide as he saw a stone the size of a basin crash onto his back. The immense impact sent him plummeting downwards, and the rock he had been gripping broke off suddenly. Bai Yujing's hand slipped from the rock face with a thud, and he fell into the bottomless abyss below.
"Damn it!"
Bai Yujing barely managed to utter this curse before he, along with Red Consort and the shadow of the monster, fell into the abyss below, catching a glimpse of Li Hao and the others' horrified faces and their cries.
"Old Bai!"
"Bai Yujing!"
"Bai Yujing!"
All they could do was watch as Bai Yujing fell into the depths below, where dark red magma and black smoke were faintly visible, gradually obscuring their view. They had no idea what would happen after he fell. Li Hao held up a lantern and leaned over the cliff, shouting down into the darkness, his voice echoing throughout the volcanic chasm.
