Detected piracy! "Don't just stand there, the Flashbang can only disperse them, it can't kill them. Hurry up and run, they'll catch up soon!"
Bai Yujing said to Zhou Jun, immediately picking up a wooden paddle and starting to row in the river. The two of them rowed vigorously, one on the left and one on the right, and the boat began to move.
"Not good, they've gathered again and are charging towards us!" Zhou Jun glanced back and saw a large number of Water Rats on the big ship behind them, rushing towards Bai Yujing. The water splashed as these creatures swam rapidly toward Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun.
Bai Yujing also saw this scene but remained silent. However, he began to row faster. The two of them rowed desperately, and with the current's push, the boat sped up. But the Water Rats were close behind, biting at their heels. Bai Yujing turned around and saw several large rats charging toward him like a sharp sword, swimming through the water.
Bai Yujing fired two shots, killing the first rat in line. Immediately, those two were devoured by the following giant rats. Water splashed everywhere as Bai Yujing continued to shoot until he emptied his magazine. However, there were too many rats; they just kept coming in waves, quickly grabbing onto the back of the boat, trying to climb aboard.
Bai Yujing grabbed the wooden paddle and struck at these creatures while kicking with his other foot. But there were more and more rats, and Bai Yujing was struggling to keep them at bay.
Zhou Jun was rowing hard at the front when he suddenly heard something: "Not good, these rats are gnawing at the bottom of our boat!"
This was truly life-threatening; if these creatures gnawed through the bottom of the boat, Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun would be at their mercy. Bai Yujing quickly took out a Sonic Bomb, activated it, and threw it down toward the bottom.
Immediately, a huge splash erupted from below as violent vibrations caused waves to ripple across the water for miles around. The intense shaking from below was like a bomb exploding, creating powerful ripples that spread outward.
In an instant, Bai Yujing saw numerous giant rats flipping onto their backs as they floated up from below. He quickly teamed up with Zhou Jun to row vigorously into a chasm-like section of the river ahead, disappearing into this massive gap.
Once they reached this point, it seemed that the giant rats no longer pursued them. Bai Yujing couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Individually, neither Bai Yujing nor Zhou Jun feared these rats; however, when they came in swarms like this, they were a hundred times more dangerous than that Nine-Headed Serpent above. This creature likely didn't exist during the Ming Dynasty; it was uncertain whether it crawled up from underground or migrated from some cave. It had gradually proliferated in this underground cavern centered around their large ship and nearly cost Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun their lives.
Zhou Jun looked at Bai Yujing: "Sonic Bomb? There’s still Flashbang ahead; how did you get these? Aren't they all illegal weapons?"
Bai Yujing said irritably, "If we can get guns, what can't we get? However, these two items are indeed useful for adventures in the outside world. They are much better than Grenade when dealing with swarms of creatures and some wild monsters. They cover a large area and have a smooth spread. The key is that when it comes to escaping, they can be of great help!"
Zhou Jun nodded, "Every time I run into you, it's such a thrilling scene. When I get old, I'll write a couple of books about the things I've encountered today; it's enough material for me to brag about for a lifetime!"
Bai Yujing immediately replied, "Last time you said that the journey to Atlantis was enough for you to brag about for a lifetime!"
"Then I'll brag for two lifetimes!"
"Hahaha!"
Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun joked with each other as they turned on the searchlights above their heads and looked at the surrounding environment. The water flow here was quite rapid, converging from above and heading downward.
From this vantage point, it looked like a fissure in the earth, but not quite, as the rocks on both sides were too even. This chasm-like river appeared as if two walls standing several dozen meters high had formed on either side.
The light shone on the stone walls, reflecting brilliance; the water sparkled vividly. The river was several dozen meters wide and had abundant water flow. No one expected that deep underground there would be such a continuous Underground River.
The two of them traveled down this river on a boat. After passing this section, the water flow gradually became calmer. The riverbed alternated between wide and narrow sections, with very unstable currents.
However, Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun were more focused on the ancient relics frequently visible along the walls of the river. There were murals depicting stories from ancient times. Bai Yujing could see some accounts of ancient legends, most of which were scenes of war, likely depicting Bai Wangji during his youth and prime while following Zhou Wuwang in battles across the land.
As Bai Yujing observed his surroundings with a flashlight, following these relics and pathways, he could confirm that ahead lay the so-called Bai Wang Tomb. Aside from Wang Quanyi, who had disturbed this place several hundred years ago, Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun might be among the second group of people to enter here thousands of years later.
The walls bore numerous chiseled marks and traces, with many places having wooden stakes inserted into them. Bai Yujing could imagine that the ancient Bo People relied on these stakes to secure themselves on these cliffs while carving out these murals.
"What do you see over there?"
Zhou Jun suddenly noticed something and shone his flashlight towards the top ahead. Bai Yujing also saw it; a cave entrance began to appear in front of them. Bai Yujing stood up, tilting his head to look up. The entrance was small, but from Bai Yujing's angle, it was difficult to see what was inside.
"It seems like there's something inside?" Bai Yujing widened his eyes, but since the boat was close to the left rock wall at that moment, it was indeed hard to see anything from his vantage point.
As the boat passed beneath the entrance and moved forward, Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun immediately shifted their gaze and discovered ahead: "There's another one over here!"
Bai Yujing and Zhou Jun directed their searchlights forward and found that more and more of these cave entrances appeared along both sides of the river, with figures sitting cross-legged inside each one!
