Listening to his words, the entire bedroom fell silent without a sound. Consort Xi could hardly believe her ears as she looked at Mo Xiao Li and said, "The Little Prince only has a fever. Besides, that's an ancient remedy. If we don't have certainty, what if something happens to the Little Prince?"
Mo Xiao Li also remained silent, repeatedly thinking about his words. When he raised his eyes and saw the unconscious Little Prince on the bed, he clenched his fists tightly and looked again at Xia Ziqian, asking, "Is there really no other way?"
"In response to Your Majesty, the main issue is that the Little Prince is too young. If we don't quickly reduce his fever, the consequences would be unimaginable. You should make a choice soon; if you miss this opportunity, it will be a lifelong regret!" Xia Ziqian urged anxiously.
Mu Junqi understood very well what this child meant to him. Even now, he couldn't believe that the person who framed the Little Prince would be her. However, the Emperor seemed to be blinded by treachery, convinced that all of this was orchestrated by the Empress. The only way now was to save her.
After a while, Mo Xiao Li seemed to have made a decision and instructed Li Fusheng beside him, "Go to the Cold Palace and bring the Empress here." Li Fusheng quickly bowed and turned to leave.
After an unknown amount of time, Mu Junqi was finally brought in. The moment the curtain was lifted, a gust of cold wind mixed with snowflakes blew in, causing everyone present to shiver involuntarily. Li Fusheng was already trembling from the cold; she seemed oblivious as she blankly followed his steps forward.
The thin clothing on her body provided no warmth against the chill, but after so long, it seemed she had adapted to such temperatures and no longer felt as cold as before. Just as her injuries were healing and she pondered how she could meet Mo Xiao Li again, she was unexpectedly brought to Yunxi Palace. Although she felt confused inside, she still entered.
She had imagined countless scenarios of their reunion but never expected it to be in such a scene. Consort Xi was dressed beautifully; one could see from her brows and eyes that she had been happy lately, which made Mu Junqi sneer slightly.
When she finally approached Mo Xiao Li, she noticed Xia Ziqian was also present. She raised her eyes but then immediately lowered her head and knelt down in silence. Mo Xiao Li watched this scene silently; since she entered, his heart felt tightly constricted with discomfort. She was dressed so lightly—could she withstand it? With the weather being so cold lately, would her body catch a chill? All his worries and questions surged forth in that moment, yet in the end, he only opened his mouth but said nothing.
"Empress, the Little Prince is sick—"
Before Xia Ziqian could finish speaking, Mu Junqi's previously calm demeanor suddenly turned tense as she raised her head to look at Xia Ziqian with worry in her eyes. Seeing him silent, she quickly turned to Mo Xiao Li beside her with pleading eyes. However, all this appeared deliberate in Mo Xiao Li's eyes; he irritably turned his gaze elsewhere.
Mu Junqi was filled with anxiety when suddenly cries of a child came from the warm chamber. Without thinking twice, Mu Junqi stood up and walked toward that direction but was stopped by a palace maid at the door. Mu Junqi struggled to rush inside while repeatedly saying, "My child—my child," tears streaming down her face immediately after.
Mo Xiao Li walked over a few steps, then grabbed her arm and said angrily, "Is the child really that important in your eyes? Didn't you want to kill him?"
Mu Junqi stopped struggling upon hearing this, but stared at him tightly, suddenly laughing out loud, tears streaming down her face. "Do you really think I'm so pathetic in your eyes? Do you think I could be as heartless as you?"
Her body was already weak, and after this exchange, she nearly collapsed. Her face was pale with no color at all. Mo Xiao Li silently looked at her, feeling how thin her arm was, almost bony to the touch. Was everyone in the Cold Palace tormenting her?
Just as he was lost in thought, the Little Prince inside cried even louder, seemingly having heard his mother's voice. Xia Ziqian hurried over and said to Mo Xiao Li, "Your Majesty, the Little Prince has finally woken up. You should let the Empress go in and see; perhaps the Little Prince is fine now."
After listening to this, Mo Xiao Li fell silent for a long time before stepping aside. Seeing this, Mu Junqi rushed in. Upon entering, she saw the small figure on the bed, flailing its arms and legs in the air, tears flowing continuously. The little face was flushed red while a Nursemaid was soothing it nearby.
Seeing her come in, the Nursemaid quickly stepped back to make way. Mu Junqi looked at her own hands, which were covered in wounds and felt completely cold. For a moment, she suddenly felt scared and stood there frozen.
When Mo Xiao Li walked in, he saw this scene and took a deep look at Mu Junqi, quickly walking over to pick up the Little Prince. He then coldly glanced at Mu Junqi and said with reproach, "If you don't want to comfort him, then don't put on a worried expression. Don't make me continue to hate you!"
Mu Junqi let out a cold laugh and silently turned away, raising her eyes to meet Xia Ziqian's worried gaze. "Lord Xia, I hope you can save the Little Prince. I will take my leave now."
Just as she reached the door, Xia Ziqian remained still but spoke up, "Empress, I brought you here this time specifically to save the Little Prince. Without you, it's impossible."
The step she had taken outside halted at these words as she looked at him in confusion. Mo Xiao Li, observing the interaction between them, felt even angrier and walked over, mocking them by saying, "At this time, do you still have the mood to flirt with your lover?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Mu Junqi laughed again, extending her hands and staring intently into his eyes. "If I said I was worried about hurting Han Zhe, would you believe me? I really didn't expect you to see me this way; it seems I've truly made a mistake—this is all retribution!"
Mo Xiao Li pressed his lips together tightly while looking at his hands full of wounds; his heart ached fiercely. He then handed the Little Prince to the nearby Nursemaid, opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing.
The Little Prince finally cried himself to sleep, closing his eyes in the arms of the Nursemaid. Seeing this, Xia Ziqian hurried over, checked the temperature, and said, "Your Majesty, there is no time left, hurry!"
Mu Junqi anxiously looked at the Little Prince and asked, "What should we do?"
"As long as your blood is mixed with His Majesty's, the rest I will handle," he replied.
