As soon as these words were spoken, both of their faces turned somewhat pale. Perhaps this separation had created a rift between them. They both fell silent, just looking at each other. At that moment, a voice suddenly came from outside, "Your Majesty, the Wise King is looking for you."
The two exchanged glances, and Mo Xiao Li said to Mu Junqi, "You wait here for me; I will come back to take you home soon."
When Mu Junqi heard the word "home," tears instantly filled her eyes. After everything that had happened, could there still be a home? However, at that moment, Mu Junqi could not think too much; she could only watch the man gradually disappear and couldn't help but cry out loud.
Once Mo Xiao Li stepped out, he headed straight for the adjacent room. As soon as he entered, a fist from the Wise King came flying toward him, accompanied by an angry reprimand, "How dare you show your face here? Is this how you truly feel about her? I really misjudged you."
Mo Xiao Li was caught off guard and received a hard blow to his right cheek, which immediately turned red and swollen. Listening to the Wise King's words, he rubbed his injured face with one hand while gripping the Wise King's fist with the other. He then stared coldly into the Wise King's eyes and said, "What makes you think I have no right? Do you have any right? What conspiracy do you have in bringing her to Nanyang? Did you ever consider her opinions? If it weren't for you, would so many things have happened? What right do you have to hide her in Nanyang?"
The two glared at each other in anger; they had long wished to beat each other to death. However, various reasons forced them not to act on those feelings. After a while, Mo Xiao Li continued, "Why is all of this happening?"
Yun Cheng lost interest in continuing the fight and sat down on a nearby chair. With a mocking smile, he said, "Honestly, I never expected that when you saw her body, you wouldn't realize that everything was fake. I thought if you recognized her, I would return her to you. But you didn't see through it."
After a pause, he continued, "I admit that all of this was selfish of me; that's why I took her back. I initially thought that would make her mine. But after everything that's happened, her heart still belongs to you. No matter what I do, I can't get into her heart. Before coming here this time, I already knew it would be like this. But I still couldn't bear to watch her torment herself like that. So I hope you can treat her well from now on. If you truly love her, then you can't just watch her be wronged by others." With that, he looked up at Mo Xiao Li.
After hearing these words, Mo Xiao Li sat in silence for a long time before finally smiling and saying, "The reason I didn't recognize her body immediately was because I was blinded by pain at that time. Since that's the case, I will take good care of her from now on; you don't need to worry about it."
Upon hearing his words, Yun Cheng smiled as well; however, that smile was filled with pain. Perhaps it had all been a mistake from the beginning. Sometimes even knowing something is a mistake doesn't stop one's heart from acting on it.
Mo Xiao Li certainly understood Yun Cheng's thoughts at that moment; however, such matters have no clear right or wrong—only mistakes made during encounters.
At that moment, a sudden scream echoed from outside. Both of their faces changed drastically as they rushed out to see a large group of people fighting with those brought by Mo Xiao Li.
This time, the people were clearly different from the last group, who killed with every strike, eager to take their opponent's life in one blow. Yun Cheng's expression was grim; he had actually sent someone last time, but this time he had not sent anyone, yet they were still discovered. Who exactly wanted their lives?
At this moment, there was no time for them to think, as those people had already charged forward with their swords. Zuo Yunqing immediately stepped forward to shield Mo Xiao Li, then quickly fired a smoke bomb into the air. The men in black looked up at the commotion and one of them shouted, "Speed it up!"
After that, the group rushed forward desperately to attack. At that moment, Mo Xiao Li recklessly ran toward a nearby room, with Yun Cheng following closely behind. Upon entering, they saw Mu Junqi curled up on the bed, trembling all over and looking pale. Before Mo Xiao Li could reach her, two men jumped down from the roof and lunged straight at Mu Junqi. Mo Xiao Li immediately stepped forward to fight them barehanded.
Yun Cheng joined in the fight as well, but then they heard one of the men say, "Our target this time is this woman. If you’re not afraid of getting hurt, then you should leave quietly. Otherwise, this blade has no eyes; if either of you gets hurt, don’t blame me for not warning you."
As soon as he finished speaking, Mo Xiao Li laughed. Yun Cheng chuckled as well and said, "You really are arrogant. If you're so capable, who sent you?"
The man on the opposite side took a few steps forward with his sword and replied, "Our master is your enemy; of course, you won’t have the chance to find out." With that, he lunged forward.
Since they had no weapons, the two could only fight barehanded against him while Mu Junqi sat on the bed unsure of what to do, watching them anxiously. Although she held resentment toward Yun Cheng in her heart, she knew deep down that if it weren't for her own actions, she might have long been gone from this world.
At that moment, reinforcements arrived, but all remaining enemies surged into the room. These attackers were well-prepared and highly skilled; gradually, it became difficult for the two to fend them off. Suddenly, one man took advantage of their distraction and lunged straight at Mu Junqi.
Yun Cheng was the first to notice his intent and leaped to the bedside to block him outside. He snatched a sword from a nearby person and thrust it at the attacker. At that moment, reinforcements finally entered; seeing this, the attackers began to retreat.
"Capture all of these people! Otherwise, none of you will return!" Mo Xiao Li said sternly.
"You’re bleeding; are you okay?" Mu Junqi suddenly spoke up.
Mo Xiao Li quickly turned around but saw Mu Junqi holding Yun Cheng's hand and speaking worriedly with concern etched on her face. Seeing this scene made him unsure how to express his own worries; he could only watch. Yun Cheng noticed his gaze first and then looked at Mu Junqi saying, "I'm fine; it's just a small injury." As he spoke, he lowered his injured hand which had likely been cut when he snatched the sword from that man.
