Upon seeing him enter, Consort Xi and Consort Qian both looked up at him. However, Consort Xi suddenly burst into loud laughter and said, "Your Majesty, you came to see Xi Er, didn't you?"
Consort Qian immediately responded, "The Emperor wouldn't come to see you; he came to have you killed!" With that, she laughed unabashedly.

Mo Xiao Li felt completely disheartened by her and turned to the Warden, saying, "Go bring that palace maid here."
Before long, a bloodied palace maid was brought in, collapsing weakly on the ground and gasping for breath. The Warden reached out to lift her head. Mo Xiao Li looked at the angry Consort Xi and said in a deep voice: "Do not blame anyone for these matters; it is because of your vanity that it has come to this."
