Ground, a certain country's Command Center.
"Unidentified flying object detected!!"
"Quick, track it!"
"Report your identity!!" An employee communicated with the Return Capsule.
"No response."
"Communication is cut off, and the Signal is also lost. We can't track it anymore."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wind was too strong for Ziyu to hear any other sounds; even Zero's voice could only be faintly heard.
"Boom..." A sound louder than the wind erupted, shaking Ziyu's ears.
Ziyu turned to look back; the Return Capsule in the distance had exploded, debris flying everywhere, flames dazzling.
"Fortunately, we jumped out in time," Ziyu sighed in relief.
"Sir, we should now be in the stratosphere, about forty kilometers from Ground. From now on, I will not send any detection Signal to Ground to avoid detection by any monitoring systems."
Ziyu focused all attention below.
A sea, Ziyu was rushing toward the edge of the water. Of course, this edge was not a sandy beach, but rather a place that was still part of the deep sea.
The blue surface of the sea occasionally rippled, looking quite beautiful, but Ziyu knew that this beauty could easily cost him his life.
The Return Capsule was large, so during its descent, it generated a lot of heat due to friction with the air. In contrast, Ziyu's body was relatively small and would not generate heat; instead, the fast-moving air made Ziyu feel cold.
Moments later.
"Sir, prepare for deceleration," said Zero.
Now Ziyu was only about five thousand meters from Ground.
"Ion Thruster ready," said Zero. "Five... four... three... two... one... activate!"
Ziyu, initially head down, flipped over suddenly, with all limbs facing Ground, his body slightly tilted backward.
The Ion Thruster on his limbs and back fully activated, emitting a faint blue "flame" from the thruster nozzles, providing Ziyu with significant thrust.
"The deceleration is quite noticeable..." Ziyu sighed in relief.
To decelerate, the thrust must be greater than the force of gravity.
"Sir, I recommend you turn off the thrusters after decelerating for a while and then free fall close to Ground before fully activating again; otherwise, the power may not last until you reach Ground, and you would be in great danger during free fall."
"Understood." Ziyu agreed. After descending for a while and reaching about one thousand meters, he turned off the thrusters.
"I guess the things I've been doing during this time... I'm the only one on Earth who's done them," Ziyu said with a smile.
Since he couldn't control the descent, it was better to relax and divert his attention.
"I think there are some unsolved mysteries on Earth, like mysterious disappearances. Maybe someone has already seen aliens," Zero added.
"Sir, you are approximately one hundred meters from the water's surface, and your speed is nearing five hundred meters per second."
"Begin deceleration."
Ziyu extended his limbs downward, releasing all stored energy as the Ion Thruster activated at full power. Ziyu's descent speed quickly decreased.
"Plop!" The power of the Metal Plate was exhausted, and Ziyu's descent reached an acceptable level before he plunged into the sea.
At the moment Ziyu was enveloped by water, his consciousness paused for a moment; anyone would be dazed after such a strong impact.
Zero manipulated the Metal Plate to transform into two wings, flapping upward to lift Ziyu back to the surface.
The Ion Thruster had run out of power, but Zero reserved some energy in the Metal Plate since transformation also required electricity.
Once Ziyu floated to the surface of the sea, the Metal Plate transformed into something resembling a boat, and Ziyu lay in the cabin.
"Did I survive?" Ziyu opened his eyes and looked at the sky.
Ziyu sat up and gazed at the nearby sea, feeling a surge of emotions.
"How do we get back?" Ziyu asked Zero, "Can you navigate us back to land?"
Out at sea, it was nearly impossible to tell directions, and there was no sense of time; looking at the sun was useless.
"Sir, there is a ship approaching nearby."
Ziyu looked over and indeed saw a large ship heading in their direction.
"Let's ask for help; it would be more comfortable," Ziyu decided.
"Searching..." Zero began to gather information about the ship.
"Sir, I have connected to Earth Internet and found information about this ship."
It was a vessel coming from Africa to Africa, mostly carrying tourists, and it would dock in Sanya. Ziyu was currently located along the route of this ship.
Ziyu stood up and waved at the ship.
"Captain, we have spotted a person," a crew member on the ship monitoring the nearby waters suddenly noticed Ziyu.
"Hmm, it looks like he might be in trouble, but how did his small boat get out here? It doesn't make sense for someone to navigate such a small vessel into deep waters..." the captain wondered.
"Nevertheless, let's get him on board first."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sir, we are about to lower the rope; please prepare to board," the loudspeaker on the ship announced as Ziyu continued waving.
"Great." Ziyu took a deep breath.
If the ship didn't take care of him, he would have to drift to shore by himself.
The ship approached and lowered a rope ladder. Ziyu climbed up the ladder.
"Thank you all. Otherwise, I really wouldn't know how to get back to the mainland..." As soon as Ziyu boarded the ship, he saw many crew members and the captain, and he quickly expressed his gratitude.
"It's nothing, but please understand that for the safety of our passengers, we still need to check your identity," the captain said.
Ziyu nodded and stretched out his arms. He could understand this for everyone's benefit.
"Captain, could you help me retrieve my small boat?" Ziyu asked.
"What for?"
"Well, I still need it... um... can you just help me get it back?" Ziyu couldn't find a reasonable explanation for them to retrieve the boat.
"Do you have a home?"
"Huh? Yes... what do you mean?"
"If we help you get your boat, we expect you to bring us some money when you get home."
"Alright..." Ziyu blinked.
Ziyu thought of a serious problem: in this money-driven world, he actually had no money!
"I need to find a way to get some money... at least enough to survive," Ziyu thought.
As Ziyu watched them bring the ship up, he took the boat and dragged it to the area near the place the captain had arranged for him to stay.
"This guy is a bit strange. Keep an eye on him, and if there are any issues, take immediate action..." the captain told the crew. "This is a passenger ship; no passengers are allowed to be harmed."
"Sir, those crew members do not trust you." The metal plate loaded with zero had already been taken to Ziyu's room.
"I don't need them to trust me; I just need to get back to the mainland... As for the costs, I have already figured out what to do," Ziyu said.
Ziyu didn't want to avoid paying this fee because it was a legitimate voyage. They could file a complaint if they wanted, and besides, no matter how harshly they spoke, they had at least helped Ziyu.
"The return journey has begun... the storm is in China."
