"Howling?" Ziyu asked, confused. "Human howling?"
"Yes, it's said to be a very mournful howl."
"How could that be..." Ziyu fell into deep thought.
Since everyone was talking about it, it must be true, but it just didn't make sense.
"What did the police say?" Ziyu inquired.
"They confirmed that there is indeed a sound, but they are uncertain about its source..."
"It might be that Underground Organization tormenting someone," Ziyu could only think.
The sounds heard clearly at night in that city did not come from a fixed location; they could be here today and there tomorrow, with basically no pattern. The nearby residents were on edge, and some even moved away.
"Let's go take a look. I hope Lan is still there; if she has moved, finding her will be troublesome," Ziyu decided to check it out.
Next, Ziyu found a hotel to stay temporarily and set off the next day towards the city where Lan was located.
"It is said that life here is quite normal, except for some areas where strange sounds can be heard at night; there are no other oddities."
Ziyu reviewed some recent information online, and this small town was indeed receiving a lot of attention.
"Many people have moved away recently, so I think buying a house here wouldn't be too difficult," Ziyu strolled along the streets of the city, exploring.
Sure enough, not long after, Ziyu saw a small advertisement for buying a house.
Most of the original homeowners had gone out of town, so anyone wanting to buy a house needed to contact them first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Finally settled down." Ziyu plopped down on the sofa of the newly bought house.
"Let's hang this sword here." Ziyu took out the sword he had been carrying and hung it on the wall behind the sofa. "This piece of copper, I need to get it tested sometime to see if it's an ancient artifact."
Ziyu was playing with a piece of copper he had brought from that world, admiring the intricate patterns on it.
"Alright, let's go find Lan." Ziyu finally set off.
Finding Lan in this small town was quite difficult; Ziyu was out every day and only returned home at night to sleep.
Occasionally, Ziyu would hear some sounds that seemed to match the descriptions in reports, very eerie and chilling.
"If this is someone's prank, they are in for big trouble," Ziyu chuckled.
Ziyu did not believe in any ghosts or deities.
It was the sixth day since Ziyu arrived in this small town.
"Zero, take a look at this guy."
"Through monitoring, the similarity is ninety-nine percent."
"I found her, I finally found her..." Ziyu looked at a girl in front of him, feeling very happy.
In the past few days, Ziyu had been searching for Lan and even had Zero infiltrate the monitoring system for investigation, but there had been no progress. Some people resembled Lan, but they were not her.
"She... where is she going?" Ziyu didn't rush to call out to her but slowly followed behind, only to find that Lan walked into a university.
"No way, she's already a college student..." Ziyu felt incredulous.
If what Zero speculated was true, and if Lan had another identity after arriving here, then it wouldn't be surprising for her to attend university; Ziyu just found it very novel.
"Zero, check her information in this world and arrange for me to get close to her." Ziyu felt playful.
"Wait a moment, I'm doing an identity comparison..."
"Sir, Lan is called Ye Ling here. She is in the History department at this university and is currently pursuing a master's degree." Zero found out about Lan's current information.
"Uh... how old is she?"
"Twenty-four years old... and sir, Ye Ling has experienced a mental disorder."
"What?"
"Oh, it's like this," Zero explained. "Six years ago, Ye Ling fell ill and after waking up, she didn't recognize anyone nearby and was unfamiliar with anything here."
"Well, it should be her." Ziyu smiled.
Six years ago, in 2008, was when Lan fell into the Time Fragment.
"Sir, I have arranged an identity for you... as a local resident of this small town who has been studying away from home for some time and is now transferring to this university," Zero said. "Do you need to change your name?"
"I haven't mentioned that I'm called Ziyu here, have I?"
"Shouldn't be."
"Then no need to change it. Just keep it as Ziyu... Prepare a document, print it out later, and I'll go to school to register tomorrow."
Ziyu looked at the university ahead, smiled slightly, and then left for the time being.
"Hmm?" Ye Ling, who was walking, suddenly sensed something and turned around to look, but saw nothing.
"Did you feel something wrong?" Ye Ling shook her head.
The next day.
"Here is my information; is this okay?" Ziyu placed various documents in front of the school officials.
The necessary stamps were affixed, and all required documents were complete, so Ziyu smoothly entered the university.
Ziyu initially wanted to see what level of Computer technology was being studied at the university and whether she was strong in it, but later dismissed this idea.
She came to find Ye Ling, not to play!
"Hello. My name is Ziyu," Ziyu said, looking at Ye Ling. Ye Ling immediately widened her eyes. This detail further confirmed for Ziyu that she was indeed Lan.
Before class, Ye Ling would arrive early, a standard good student.
"What's wrong?" Ziyu asked as she looked at Ye Ling, who suddenly seemed like she was about to cry.
"You... look a lot like someone I know..." Ye Ling said slowly.
Ye Ling was as beautiful as her name suggested, and she was kind, so there were always boys pursuing her.
Ye Ling's response was always the same: "I have someone I like, I'm waiting."
After a long time, many people stopped pursuing her even if they liked her; it was just that the person Ye Ling liked, the one she was waiting for, had never appeared.
"Then you can think of me as him," Ziyu joked with a smile.
"No, it's not the same," Ye Ling forced out a faint smile, showing some resistance.
"Oh... just kidding. I'll sit behind you then... Sorry about that; I almost made you cry," Ziyu said.
Upon hearing this, Ye Ling let out a laugh.
"There's still some change, huh..." Ziyu thought to himself, "Did you think I would chase you and then politely reject me? Haha, you'll regret that day!"
However, Ziyu soon regretted it... History class was so boring...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ye Ling... Ye Ling... so interesting..." Ziyu was almost laughing on his way home. He had found the person he was looking for, and now he was just teasing Ye Ling, temporarily not letting her know that he was "Xiong Zhi."
"By the way, since I don't have much to do right now... I might as well research how to properly utilize this mysterious metal... I need to figure out how to use it." Ziyu looked at the mysterious metal that had turned into a large box.
This metal must have great potential. Ziyu knew that this direct transformation effect, which was designed without much thought, was definitely not the best. He still needed to rely on this to fight against the organization.
Ziyu decided to start working on design plans for this mysterious metal; as for the prototype, it would be the Battle Armor!
"It should at least be able to fly and fight... Nuclear power and all that need to be integrated to reach perfection..."
