The absence of fish in the water is due to this Fish Demon, but even so, fish can live in water. Why are the people in the city cursed? Could this little Fish Demon really have such great power?
Overthinking is pointless. Xiang Xueer looked up at the already set sun. It seems that continuing the investigation would yield no results, and it might even put her in danger. So she got up, packed her things, and headed back to Sima Manor.
"What's wrong? Not going to continue gathering clues?" Li Yunyang turned to look at Xiang Xueer, who was drenched, and then covered his mouth with a laugh, saying, "Look at you, you look like a drowned chicken!"
Xiang Xueer was deep in thought and shot him a glare. "Shut up, you're not any better!"
When they returned home, Sima Zhao was standing at the door. Seeing the two of them come back all wet, he asked in surprise, "Wow, where have you been? Did you discover something?"
"Yes!" Xiang Xueer nodded. "That's right; there are indeed monsters in the water, but I've only tracked it down to this point for now!"
"Wow! You're amazing!" Sima Zhao blinked his phoenix eyes and looked at Xiang Xueer with a smile full of admiration and appreciation, which instantly made Li Yunyang feel extremely displeased.
That night, Xiang Xueer comfortably stayed at Sima Manor, enjoying a rose petal bath in a wooden tub and was just about to climb into bed to sleep.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. At this late hour, who could be looking for her? Reluctantly getting out of bed, Xiang Xueer opened the door to find Sima Zhao standing there with a plate of fruit.
"Shirley, are you still awake?" Sima Zhao shook the bunch of grapes in the plate, looking as if he wanted to chat with her.
A young boy coming to see me at midnight—could it be he wants to talk about love? Sigh, although I prefer mature Handsome Guys, since you're so charming, I guess I'll humor you for a bit.
"Um, no, not yet!" Xiang Xueer quickly rubbed her slightly sleepy eyes and smiled as she shook her head. "I was just worried about where to vent my excess energy. Come on, let's go out to the yard to watch the stars, admire the moon, talk about life and ideals, and eat grapes!"
Hearing her chatter on for a while, Sima Zhao suddenly laughed out loud and covered his mouth while giggling, saying, "You seem younger than me, but I think what you say is really interesting."
"Nonsense," Xiang Xueer pouted, and then the two of them went to the courtyard, sitting down on the stone bench. This courtyard was a small storeroom in the back yard, but the location was indeed very good; one could see the high-hanging moon just by looking up.
"Shirley, do you think our citizens in Illusion City can lift the curse?" Sima Zhao looked at her with a worried expression, his eyes filled with hope.
"Um!" Xiang Xueer drew out her words. "If it were about killing someone, I would definitely tell you without hesitation that there's no one I can't kill. However, when it comes to exorcising a curse, I can't guarantee anything." She then changed her tone, "But don't worry, I will do my best!"
Upon hearing this, Sima Zhao immediately revealed his signature smile. He had a bit of a Korean-style charm that was quite appealing. Xiang Xueer grinned and leaned closer to him, "Hey, I've always found it strange why all the citizens in the city are cursed, yet you two seem perfectly normal?"
As soon as Sima Zhao heard this, he quickly brushed his long hair aside to reveal his ears. What should have been normal rounded ears were actually pointed like those of an elf prince from The Lord of the Rings. Coupled with his bright eyes, he was almost too cute for Xiang Xueer to handle!
"Wow!" she exclaimed, reaching out to touch them. They were just too adorable; she couldn't help but pinch them with both hands. Suddenly, she thought of something and asked in surprise, "So you’re cursed too? What about Sima Yi? Where's his signature curse?"
Upon hearing this, Sima Zhao's face turned red with embarrassment; he shyly hesitated to answer. This made Xiang Xueer even more anxious as she shook him back and forth urgently, "Come on, tell me! Is it somewhere invisible?"
"Yes!" Sima Zhao endured for a moment and glanced around the empty courtyard before leaning in close to Xiang Xueer's ear and whispering, "It's in that place; my father said it’s very uncomfortable every time he urinates!"
Huh? That place? Uncomfortable urination? Xiang Xueer's face immediately darkened. No way! Something so bizarre is happening there? Oh my god, this plot is simply too ridiculous! Such a dashing man has been tormented by such a nightmare for three years!
"Damn curse!" Xiang Xueer cursed angrily. She initially wanted to fantasize about something but lost interest at this thought. Feeling frustrated, she picked up a grape and bit into it, instantly releasing a sour juice.
"Wow, what kind of grape is this? So sour!" Just as she was about to spit it out, a shadow quickly darted across the high wall of the back yard and flew towards the residential area.
Xiang Xueer's sensitive nerves immediately tensed up. She gulped down the sour grape whole and reached for her AK-47 behind her. Oh no! The gun wasn't with her; it was still inside the house.
"What’s wrong?" Sima Zhao noticed her tense expression and looked in the direction of her gaze. "Shirley, did you see something?"
"Hmph!" Xiang Xueer gradually revealed a cold smile at the corner of her mouth and patted Sima Zhao's shoulder. "It seems you have an uninvited guest at home today. You should hurry back to your room and don't come out unless necessary!"
After saying this, Xiang Xueer quickly turned and ran towards her room. Although it was nighttime, the figure that had just flown past the rooftop was definitely not moving at a normal human speed. Moreover, the fleeting aura of darkness was certainly not human.
She quickly returned to her room, grabbed the AK-47 resting on her bedside, secured the Crossbow on her back, and strapped two daggers to her ankles. With a sudden burst of speed, she fully armed herself and dashed out of the room.
In the vast backyard, people who had long been asleep made the Sima Manor unusually quiet. The swiftly moving clouds gradually obscured the moonlight, and a faint metallic scent began to waft through the air.
This smell felt so familiar. Xiang Xueer tightly gripped her weapon, raised her head, and quietly searched for her prey. Suddenly, a very faint sound of breaking tiles immediately directed Xiang Xueer's attention.
"Hmph! Running quite fast; they are no longer nearby!" Xiang Xueer turned her head and lightened her footsteps to the utmost, then followed the direction of the sound of breaking tiles.
Where could they be? Frowning, Xiang Xueer entered the front yard and cautiously searched for the uninvited guest. However, after searching for a long time, she found no clues.
Strange, it can't be! I clearly saw that ghostly figure; how could it vanish in an instant? She looked up and scanned around before noticing the roof of the firewood shed nearby. With a swift leap, she jumped onto the roof, surprised at how much her lightness skill had improved.
Xiang Xueer began to survey her surroundings from above, making it easier to spot her prey. Suddenly, as her gaze swept across one of the rooftops, a black object caught her eye.
With a 'pop' sound, a black figure crouched on a ledge was slowly lifting a tile. At that moment, a gust of cold wind blew by, and once again, the air was filled with that metallic scent.
"I found you!" Xiang Xueer's eyes were sharp like those of a hawk as she fixed her gaze on the black shadow. The wind moved quickly across the clouds, revealing the moon's original brightness once more and instantly exposing that shadow in the moonlight.
