"She's not here anymore; she went to the top of the mountain!" Duck climbed up a giant tree trunk and pointed at the peak of Bai Ling Mountain. Upon hearing this, the Black Widow's expression darkened: "That dead Duck dares to lie to me. This mountain has a barrier; demons can't go up at all!"
"She's not a demon!" Duck tried to explain, but the female demon didn't believe it at all. The spider was climbing up the tree trunk, and oh no, spiders can climb trees; this was bad news.
Platypus was panicking, crying out: "Sister, it seems you won't see me again. When you wake up, remember to burn more paper money for me on the first and fifteenth of every month."
"You dead Duck, why are you crying?" The Black Widow had already climbed to the top of the tree, and Red Eyes was staring at its tender backside, opening its mouth ready to bite. Duck got so scared that it covered its backside and fell from the tree, running toward the small creek on the other side.
After a frantic dog paddle, Duck hid in the water. The Black Widow approached the water's edge and tried to get in but couldn't. Furious, she shouted by the creek: "Dead Duck, get out of the water!"
Seeing that Duck refused to come out, the Black Widow simply waited on the shore, threatening: "You little thing, if you have the guts, stay in there for the rest of your life!"
Platypus saw that the Black Widow didn't dare enter the water and finally breathed a sigh of relief, floating with all four limbs spread out in the water: "I say Ling Zhu, hurry up and get rid of her; otherwise, even if I don't get eaten by a spider, I'll end up swollen from being soaked in water!"
"Hahaha!" Xiang Xueer covered her mouth and laughed heartily. Although this useless body couldn't move, her soul was free. She had been laughing for quite a while now and wiped away tears from her eyes while repeatedly apologizing to the Witch: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for calling you an old maid earlier; I didn't expect you to have a lover too! Wahaha!"
Xiang Xueer emphasized the word 'lover' particularly heavily and looked at the Witch's darkened face. However, she truly didn't expect that this seemingly proud and difficult-to-get-along-with violent woman would actually have a lover; it seemed they had known each other for at least a hundred years.
"Shut up or I'll kill you!" The Witch finally exploded in anger; killing intent flickered in her red eyes. It seemed she was genuinely angry. She quickly turned her head away and began humming a song: "My lover, my heart, my dream, my soul, given to one person; my lover, I love you; I believe I am yours, my dream lover. La la la la love makes one dizzy; la la la longing makes one heartache..."
What kind of past did Witch Jingyue have? What kind of love did she experience? Why were her eyes filled with melancholy and sadness? Xiang Xueer stopped singing. Could it be that she really had a deep love with this Lizard Spirit?
After a while, the Witch slowly closed her eyes as if continuously reminiscing about various past events, replaying memories from a hundred years ago like scenes from a movie.
"It’s impossible, there will be no outcome between us!" The Witch turned around, her gaze finally returning to its previous calmness. Xiang Xueer crossed her arms and boldly speculated, "Could it be the disparity in status?"
A look of surprise flashed across the Witch's face as she turned her head, furrowing her brows at Xiang Xueer. "How do you know?"
Indeed, the truth had been guessed, and it made Xiang Xueer sneer coldly. "Ah, watching too many dramas usually leads to the most cliché plots. You are the Demon Realm Princess, and he is just a poor boy. Tell me, how could a princess and a poor boy possibly be together? Neither of your families would agree!"
Xiang Xueer spread her hands; it was obvious, a plot that could be guessed even with one's toes. Did she really need to say more? She turned around and plopped down beside her, crossing her legs. "Come on, we have nothing else to do. Maybe I can help you come up with some strategies!"
"I don’t need it!" The Witch's forehead creased in anger; she would rather die than tell this woman anything. "We are clearly enemies; you’d better not try to get close to me!"
"Hey, you really have no sense of humor!" Xiang Xueer complained, feeling like a dog biting Lu Dongbin, unable to recognize good intentions. "Besides, we are roommates in the same dormitory. Why not share some gossip to pass the time? You’re so stingy!"
The Witch was unwilling to reveal the secrets she kept hidden deep inside. However, even if she didn’t speak, Xiang Xueer's intelligence would allow her to guess most of it. It seemed that this Lizard Spirit had come here after hearing about the Witch's rebirth. Yet no one knew that there were two souls within this body.
The Witch turned and disappeared, leaving Xiang Xueer sitting there in a daze. Should she tell them the truth when they returned? But if she did, would they still accept her?
After finally making trustworthy friends, poor me never thought I would have friends at all; how hard-won this was!
Xiang Xueer fell into deep thought; she had no right to mock the Witch when she herself was in such a mess.
As night fell, it was already the fifth day since Xiang Xueer swallowed the Ancient Flow Horse Pill. Time was running out; by tonight at the latest, Ling Zhu had to gather the Thousand-Year Ganoderma and return; otherwise, there would be no way to reach their destination within the stipulated time, and Xiang Xueer's life would be at risk.
Finally, before nightfall, Ling Zhu arrived at the cliff across from the valley. After searching for a while, he indeed found the spiritual mushroom growing on that steep cliff, shimmering with light as it swayed like a sea of fireflies.
This time, caution is essential; there will be no third chance. Ling Zhu took a deep breath and, using Vine, flew towards the cliff's edge. After carefully observing and confirming that it was not the Man-Eating Mushroom, she quickly acted and instantly grabbed several of them.
"Finally gathered them!" A satisfied smile appeared on Ling Zhu's face as she placed the round Thousand-Year Ganoderma into her cloth bag. With a leap, she left the cliff and hurried down the mountain while it was still dark, hoping to rendezvous with Platypus by dawn.
Meanwhile, Ling Zhu successfully completed her task within the expected time frame, but things were not going as smoothly for Qingtian and Gu Liu Ma. They had been battling the Black Dragon Saint Lord for two full days and nights without a moment's rest—not even time to eat or drink.
"This is not looking good!" Li Yunyang furrowed his brows as he watched Lan Ran Qingtian and Gu Liu Ma, whose bodies were showing signs of exhaustion. It was clear they were struggling; after all, they were ordinary humans, not made of iron.
The Black Dragon, however, remained as agile as ever, showing no signs of fatigue. Suddenly, Qingtian was caught off guard; trees on either side blocked his view. The Black Dragon executed a powerful tail swipe, sending him flying far away and crashing heavily to the ground.
"Ah!" Lan Ran Qingtian cried out in pain as his spine nearly broke from the impact, blood gushing from his mouth. Gu Liu Ma was overwhelmed, being attacked from all sides; it seemed the situation was spiraling out of control.
While the two fought desperately, Li Yunyang had replenished his energy by meditating on the ground. Slowly opening his eyes, he turned to look at the Black Dragon weaving through the clouds. "Lian Xiong, Qingtian and Gu Liu Ma need to rest; it's time for us to help!"
"Mm!" Lian Cheng Xue stood up, and the two rushed towards the battlefield. Just as the Black Dragon prepared to attack the injured Qingtian again, two voices shouted from across: "Azure Dragon Slash!"
