On the morning of the twenty-first, Autumn Wind had just finished breakfast when she received a call from Yu. On the phone, Yu vaguely told Autumn Wind that she didn't need to come to the shop today and repeatedly reminded her to take good care of Leo.
Autumn Wind asked her, "Why aren't you coming out to play?"
"I... I'm busy at the shop, so I'll leave this to you..."
After that, Autumn Wind didn't say much. She knew very well that the so-called busyness was just an excuse; Yu simply didn't want to let herself see her own painful state.
After hanging up with Yu, the sound of car horns echoed from downstairs. Autumn Wind looked out the window and saw Leo sitting heavily in a black BMW, looking extremely dejected as he impatiently honked the horn.
It's surprising that after getting drunk last night, he still remembered what he said... Autumn Wind thought while deliberately glancing at the license plate. As expected, it was indeed Yao Guanghao's car.
The urgent honking continued, drawing the neighbors' scolding as they opened their windows. Autumn Wind quickly closed the window and rushed downstairs.
When she appeared, Leo rolled down the car window and waved for Autumn Wind to get in. However, she ignored his gesture and slowly began to circle around the car instead.
After walking around the car once and looking around, Autumn Wind furrowed her brows and hurriedly ran to Leo's driver's side. She leaned on the car door and asked in confusion, "Why are you alone? Where's Ina?"
Leo didn't answer immediately but continued to pat the passenger seat, signaling for Autumn Wind to get in.
Sighing, Autumn Wind shot him a glance and slowly walked over to the passenger seat. She opened the door and sat down. Just as she settled in, before she could adjust herself properly, Leo started the car.
Autumn Wind shouted loudly, "Why are you in such a hurry!" In her panic, her hands flailed in the air for a few seconds before her mind went blank. Suddenly remembering something, she quickly pulled out her seatbelt.
At that moment, an image of Liu Jian fastening his seatbelt flashed in her mind, causing a faint blush to appear on Autumn Wind's face. She stopped shouting and fell silent.
Leo had initially planned to tease Autumn Wind and see her flustered reaction, but he didn't expect that she would calm down so quickly and fasten her seatbelt. He widened his eyes to take a closer look at Autumn Wind's face and then swallowed hard as he said, "You seem to have changed a lot?"
"I? Change... where is that... Hey, don't change the subject, answer my previous question, where is Ina?" Autumn Wind leaned back against the seat and asked Leo.
"Ina? She? Is unwell and resting at the hotel," Leo replied coldly. "I don't want to talk about her..."
"H!" Autumn Wind crossed her arms over her chest and responded, "Then what do you want to talk about?"
Leo didn't answer immediately, as if he was seriously thinking before saying, "How about your boyfriend?"
"Liu Jian? What's so good about him... No, let's talk about your wedding instead..."
"I heard Guanghao say he's not bad!" Before Autumn Wind could finish, Leo interrupted her. "There aren't many men who can earn such praise from Guanghao!"
"Hmph..." Autumn Wind let out a slight scoff through her nose. "The man he praises, he also compared that Andrew to a lotus... Yes, such a pure lotus..." Autumn Wind initially just wanted to retort Leo's words casually, but mentioning Andrew inexplicably reminded her of Qiu Mowen, and then guilt, self-blame, and anger surged within her. She stopped speaking.
Leo seemed to see through Autumn Wind's thoughts and asked, "How are things with Ervin Uncle?"
"Well, since he's my uncle, what else can it be... Just like you and Jak, aren't you just good friends?" Autumn Wind replied in a very indifferent tone.
"Hey, dear, can we stop digging into each other's wounds? It's really uncomfortable!" Leo frowned, staring at the road ahead with an extremely pained expression.
Autumn Wind sighed as well. "Alright then, let's drop that... So tell me, where are we going now?"
"You'll find out soon!" Leo didn't answer Autumn Wind directly, his expression growing even darker.
"Oh!" Autumn Wind replied lightly. Then she rested her head against the window and looked outside.
The car was filled with a pleasant fragrance, reminiscent of Chanel No. 5, but mixed with other scents; it was definitely a type of women's perfume. Autumn Wind thought to herself that Yao Guanghao's taste had improved lately; his new girlfriend must have a good aura.
Just as she was thinking this, a huge billboard appeared in front of Autumn Wind. It featured a new advertisement starring Qiu Ruolan. Despite the distance, the billboard was so large that every detail of the image was clear. Qiu Ruolan's long hair was styled elegantly, and she exuded grace, resembling Audrey Hepburn. Autumn Wind found herself momentarily stunned.
A voice quickly reached her ears; it was Leo. "What's wrong? Haven't you seen Aunt Sally's advertisement? I've seen it countless times in America!"
"No... I've seen it; it's just that the location of this Taipei ad isn't..." Autumn Wind knew that Qiu Ruolan had recently filmed a high-profile advertisement, and one of the ad placements was in the largest advertising space in all of Taipei, located in Neihu.
The road in front of the billboard led to Liu Jiakai's house.
"Ah..." Realizing this, Autumn Wind let out a loud sigh. After her exclamation, she turned pale and looked at Leo. "Are you going to..."
Leo's face revealed a hint of a smile as he softly replied, "Yes..."
In that moment, the car had already passed the billboard, and Qiu Ruolan's alluring figure completely vanished from Autumn Wind's sight.
To calm herself down, Autumn Wind took a deep breath and thought to herself: after all these years, he still hasn't forgotten Liu Jiakai.
At this point, Autumn Wind fell completely silent, so quiet that she didn't know what to think. Naturally, her mind drifted to fish and to Ina; it felt as if a massive weight pressed down on her chest, making it hard for her to breathe.
The truth felt so unfair—mixed with helplessness and anger—Autumn Wind slowly turned her face toward Leo. He was focused on driving, his expression devoid of any emotion. Autumn Wind's lips trembled slightly; before she could speak, Leo suddenly slammed on the brakes.
The sudden inertia made Autumn Wind feel like she was about to be thrown forward. Fortunately, the seatbelt held her securely in place. She took a moment to collect herself and then shouted, "Xu Leo, are you trying to kill me?"
Leo said nothing as he restarted the car and slowly began to reverse.
What happened? Autumn Wind rolled down the car window and leaned out.
A black minivan was parked by the roadside, its hood open, and a driver-like person was busy working on it. A chubby young woman was waving her hands frantically at the side of the road.
Oh, it must be a breakdown, Autumn Wind thought, but when she glanced at the license plate, she couldn't remain calm. Countless images flashed through her mind, finally freezing on a face she didn't want to confront in public. Wait, this is Qiu Ruolan's car... so, she is here now?
While Autumn Wind was lost in thought, Leo had already reversed the car to park next to the minivan.
Autumn Wind instinctively grabbed Leo's arm and whispered, "What are you doing…"
"Helping out… they seem to be in trouble!" Clearly, Leo didn't know who owned the minivan, and as he spoke, the car came to a stop.
Autumn Wind stared at Leo in shock, mumbling, "Don't… don't go…"
But it was too late; Leo had already unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car, walking towards the chubby young woman. Autumn Wind took a deep breath and reluctantly opened the car door, silently praying that Qiu Ruolan wasn't inside.
However, expectations and reality never align. Just as Autumn Wind opened the door and her feet touched the ground, the minivan's door swung open to reveal a slender woman in a tight-fitting dress with exaggerated sunglasses.
In an instant, a wave of fragrance hit her. Autumn Wind turned her head towards Leo, avoiding looking at the woman's face; she knew it was Qiu Ruolan.
Seeing that it was Qiu Ruolan who got out of the car, Leo gaped in surprise. He seemed flustered and smiled foolishly while turning his head towards Autumn Wind, only to realize the awkward relationship between Autumn Wind and Qiu Ruolan, quickly turning his head back to Qiu Ruolan, desperately searching for an opening line.
Just as Leo was at a loss for words, Qiu Ruolan spoke up with an enthusiastic voice that was sweet yet slightly excited: "It's you, Leo! You… you’re back in the country… I'm so happy to see you!" She stepped forward and hugged Leo, then looked up politely and nodded slightly at Autumn Wind.
After being hugged by Qiu Ruolan, Leo slowly regained his composure and said, "Yeah, just got back… I’m out shopping with a friend… Sally... uh..." He started to say "Auntie," but swallowed it back. "Sister Sally, what are you doing…"
"Hey, don't mention it. Isn't it time to go to Neihu for the recording? The car broke down! The car the company sent over is stuck in traffic too... I'm really anxious! If we don't leave soon, we'll be late! Ugh!" Qiu Ruolan said innocently as she walked towards the Driver who was fixing the car.
For some reason, Autumn Wind suddenly felt that Qiu Ruolan's actions seemed fake, but couldn't pinpoint what was different. Why did they have to wait for the company to send a car? Couldn't she just take a taxi to the studio? Although the traffic wasn't heavy, taxis were everywhere.
Thinking this, Autumn Wind slowly approached Leo. She gently tugged at Leo's arm and whispered, "Why do I have this strange feeling?"
"Strange? What's so strange about it?" Leo replied quietly.
"If she doesn't come out, it feels weird..."
At that moment, the chubby manager walked helplessly in front of Qiu Ruolan and muttered a few words. Qiu Ruolan frowned and then turned to look at Leo. Suddenly, she let out a long sigh and walked over to Leo, looking at him with a sense of helplessness.
Leo glanced at Autumn Wind and then at Qiu Ruolan, taking the initiative to speak first, "Sister Sally, if you're in a hurry... would you like to take my car to the recording?"
Upon hearing this, Qiu Ruolan's frown suddenly relaxed. She immediately broke into a bright smile and exclaimed loudly, "Great... Hey everyone, did you hear that? I can ride in his car!"
This wasn't how Qiu Ruolan should have reacted; Autumn Wind felt even more confused. Her loud and exaggerated demeanor was really hard to bear!
Just as Autumn Wind was pondering this, several shadows suddenly appeared around them and quickly surrounded Autumn Wind and Leo...
