Autumn Wind's overly obvious actions caught the fish's attention, and she immediately sensed Autumn Wind's intentions. She moved to block Autumn Wind's gaze and teased, "Don't you think my son is as handsome as Leo? He'll definitely grow up to be a handsome guy!"
"Yes, yes... then why don't you come over and hug the handsome guy? Why does it feel like he isn't your biological child?" Autumn Wind was dissatisfied with the fish's nonchalant demeanor and scolded loudly.
Upon hearing Autumn Wind's words, the fish finally put down her coffee cup and took Oke from Autumn Wind's arms. However, her movements were too rough, causing Oke, who had just stopped crying, to burst into tears again.
Seeing this, Autumn Wind had no choice but to take Oke back into her arms and softly comfort him. Under Autumn Wind's soothing words, Oke quickly stopped crying. She placed him in the stroller and gently rocked it, and soon Oke fell asleep.
With Oke quieting down, the store also fell silent. If it weren't for the music slowly playing from the speakers, the atmosphere in the shop would have completely frozen.
"Ahem... So, Leo, when do you plan to return to America?" Autumn Wind broke the silence first.
"Oh, you don't remember... didn't I tell you? Today... your jaes is supposed to take me to the airport?"
"Today? How could I forget..." Autumn Wind placed her hand on the back of her head, frowning in thought. Just then, her phone rang; it was Liu Jian! She swiped her phone and answered the call.
On the other end of the line, Liu Jian spoke in a flat tone. The music that had just been used to ease the atmosphere suddenly became an accompaniment that harmonized with his tone. He first asked about Autumn Wind's work and meals politely before directly mentioning Leo, "If I remember correctly... Leo and his fiancée are coming to Los Angeles this time? Please arrange tonight's dinner and confirm their flight times... I'll come pick you up after work!"
When Liu Jian said this, he sounded like a lawyer appearing in court.
Imitating Liu Jian's tone, Autumn Wind replied, "K! Mission accomplished!"
After hanging up on Liu Jian, Autumn Wind awkwardly said, "It seems like you're really leaving today... jaes called; we're treating you to dinner..." Her gaze swept over to the fish, who was intently staring at Leo, looking completely enchanted and reluctant to part. At that moment, Autumn Wind felt her heart melt; her mind went blank.
The pause from Autumn Wind allowed the fish to regain her composure. She forced a smile and said, "Was that just now Liu Jian? Do you have something going on... Don't worry about me; if you have something to do, just go ahead..."
"There's nothing going on..." Autumn Wind quickly brushed it off and then deliberately stepped aside to give the fish and Leo enough space.
Both Leo and the fish understood what was happening with Autumn Wind. They began speaking in hushed tones about their thoughts. However, from what Autumn Wind observed, the fish was much more excited than Leo. While Leo was more dismissive in his words, the fish expressed her joy wholeheartedly.
Throughout this time, Leo received countless calls from ina. His response was always: "I'm helping out at Autumn Wind, I'll head back as soon as I'm done!" Yet it seemed ina didn't believe this answer. Shortly after hanging up with ina, Autumn Wind would receive a confirmation call from her as well. Each time ina called, the fish couldn't help but twitch her face. Even more surprisingly, every time ina called, little Oke, who was sleeping in his crib, would suddenly wake up—wide-eyed but not crying—and stare at Leo. After hanging up, he would close his eyes again and continue sleeping.
As time slowly approached 6 PM, the sun began to weakly emit its warmth while nightfall descended upon Taipei. It was also time for Liu Jian to pick up Autumn Wind. He didn't get out of the car but signaled for her to get in. However, when he saw Leo walking out of the Fish Store as well, he was slightly taken aback but quickly regained his composure and politely smiled at him.
Leo did not get into the car; instead, he stood in front of Liu Jian's vehicle and turned back to look at the fish.
The fish held onto Oke, standing at the store's entrance without any intention of moving forward. Meanwhile, Autumn Wind got into the car. After fastening her seatbelt with help from Liu Jian, she glanced over at Leo and the fish. Noticing their unusual behavior, she said to the fish: "Why don't you close up shop and join us for dinner..."
Fish reached out with his other hand and waved at Autumn Wind, but said nothing, a look of sadness on his face as he shook his head slightly.
"Well then... let's go... Leo, get in the car..." Autumn Wind had no choice but to say.
Hearing this, Leo opened the car door, but when he raised his leg to get in, he stopped. He retracted his leg, turned around, and bowed 90 degrees to Fish Mother and Child. After doing this, Leo finally lifted his leg and sat in the car.
Seeing Leo's actions, Autumn Wind was so shocked that she couldn't say a word. She widened her eyes and looked at Liu Jian, realizing that Liu Jian had the same expression as her. At that moment, Leo, sitting in the back, reached out and gently tapped on Liu Jian's seat, signaling him to start the car. Liu Jian snapped out of his daze and started the vehicle.
However, as the car started, the usually quiet Oke suddenly burst into tears.
Oke's unusual behavior intensified Autumn Wind's suspicions about Leo and Fish, stirring up all her questions. She turned to look at Leo, but his face showed no expression. Instead, he picked up his phone and said, "Hello, it's Ina. Have you packed your things? Autumn Wind and I will come pick you up soon... They invited us to dinner... Okay, see you soon!"
The car drove away from Fish Store towards where Ina was.
There was still quite a distance to the hotel when they saw Ina standing at the entrance with two large suitcases around her. A hotel staff member stood not far from Ina, his eyes reflecting disdain and contempt. The car was steady as Autumn Wind signaled Liu Jian not to get out. She unbuckled her seatbelt, jumped out of the car, opened the trunk, and helped Ina with her luggage.
Autumn Wind thought that after she got out of the car, Leo would follow suit. However, until the trunk closed again, Leo did not get out. This made Autumn Wind very annoyed. She opened the door closest to Leo and found him focused on his phone. So she leaned in and said angrily, "Are you sick? Why aren't you getting out..."
But before she could finish her sentence, she stopped because a photo of Oke sleeping in a crib appeared on Leo's phone. "This..." Autumn Wind didn't know what to say. She raised her head and noticed Ina had already opened the other side of the car door. So she forced a smile and pulled her head back. She walked around the car and returned to the passenger seat, but the mystery in her heart slowly unraveled like thick fog enveloping all her thoughts.
However, Autumn Wind was ultimately a girl who could suppress her curiosity. Even though she had countless opportunities for one-on-one interactions with Leo during dinner, she did not voice her questions.
It was Leo who suddenly leaned forward while they were having dinner—Liu Jian went to drive while Ina was in the restroom—and whispered in Autumn Wind's ear: "She is the only woman I have an intimate relationship with!"
Upon hearing this, Autumn Wind was momentarily stunned but quickly realized that this "she" referred to Fish.
At this point, Autumn Wind was completely unsettled. Her eyes widened in shock; her mouth slightly opened as she wanted to express her thoughts but dared not make a sound because Ina was slowly walking toward them from a distance. This mix of anger and enforced silence completely overwhelmed Autumn Wind.
Just then Liu Jian drove up in front of her. She lifted her leg to get into the car with a serious expression, sitting stiffly in the passenger seat like a statue while turmoil raged within her.
Because of this turmoil, when Chen Shanni waved at her after driving alongside for a while, Autumn Wind remained oblivious.
When they arrived at Taoyuan International Airport, it was just past 1 o'clock. Leo's flight wouldn't take off until close to dawn. Autumn Wind glanced at Liu Jian who had been busy working hard and then looked at Leo standing next to Ina with an expressionless face. Suddenly feeling weak all over, she simply said: "I'll just drop you off here!" Then she stammered: "Um... Liu Jian still has work tomorrow; we won't go inside... You guys... let's leave it at that..."
Ina politely said some perfunctory words while Leo wore a disgusted expression urging Ina to leave quickly. Ina had no choice but to stop being polite; she gave Autumn Wind a courteous hug before turning around to follow Leo into the airport lobby.
However, after walking just a few steps, Leo suddenly stopped. He placed his luggage down at a distance and hurriedly walked back toward Autumn Wind without warning and gave her a big hug saying: "Take good care of them for me!"
Leo's actions stunned Liu Jian and Ina, and everyone instantly turned into a statue. Soon, Leo realized that his actions were too reckless, so he released Autumn Wind and walked slowly in front of Liu Jian, hugging him tighter and saying, "I hope you can take good care of Autumn Wind!" The surrounding noise was a bit loud, but Leo's voice was just right; Autumn Wind could hear him, but Ina could not.
Afterward, Leo let go of Liu Jian, glanced at Autumn Wind, and then rushed towards Ina.
Autumn Wind clearly saw tears in Leo's eyes, which seemed to be noticed by Liu Jian as well.
As soon as Liu Jian drove out of the airport, his first words were, "Did you see Leo cry just now?" Liu Jian's tone was quite relaxed.
"Um... it seems so..." Autumn Wind replied with slight surprise, but felt a bit confused; shouldn't he be somewhat displeased because of Leo's actions?
Liu Jian was so relaxed because just moments ago, Leo had told him something else: "Don't worry, I don't like women... and I know you sent me an email..."
