For the next few miles, Autumn Wind sat on the windowsill, watching the villa across the street, yet she noticed no signs of a party being held.
This left Autumn Wind, who was trying to catch a glimpse of Umbrella Man's secrets, feeling a sense of loss.
Autumn Wind flipped through the HK information she had received from Wang Shaowu.
As she looked through it, she couldn't help but toss it aside; each piece of paper seemed to reflect Qiu Mowen's deep gaze, and her inner turmoil overshadowed all that appeared beautiful.
Fish had been leaving the villa with Oke early every morning and returned late, wearing a face full of disappointment.
Finally, one evening, Autumn Wind cautiously knocked on Fish's door.
Fish leaned against the headboard like a madwoman. Upon seeing Autumn Wind enter, she forced a smile and said to her, "I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me!"
"How can I not worry about you?" She quickly walked up to Fish, placing her hands on Fish's shoulders. "Tell me, what happened?"
Fish's eyes suddenly turned cold. Her voice was hoarse and lacked strength: "Chen Yuwei came. She told me that Leo loves him the most!"
Fish broke down in tears, her choked voice sounding as if she had bitten her tongue off.
Chen Yuwei? That name sounded so familiar; it was Jak!
Autumn Wind's face turned pale as she slowly lowered her hands from Fish's shoulders. So, Fish knew everything about Leo!
Autumn Wind's reaction was seen in Fish's eyes. "You know everything about Leo, right?"
"Um..." Autumn Wind dared not look into Fish's eyes.
"When did you find out?"
"A long time ago!" Autumn Wind's voice grew softer, so faint that she could barely hear it herself.
Fish covered her face in anguish. "Then why didn't you tell me? Why!"
"I'm sorry..." Autumn Wind had imagined countless times how she would react when Fish learned the truth, but when that moment arrived, all she could say were those three words.
"Can you please go out? I want to be alone for a while!" Fish's voice floated out through the gaps between her fingers covering her face.
Autumn Wind bit her lip, speechless. She lowered her head and walked out of Fish's room. She quickly rushed back to her own room and picked up her phone to call Leo.
But after dialing the number, Autumn Wind hesitated and hung up. She didn't know what to say to Leo.
Whatever it was, it was ultimately a matter between Leo and Fish.
She leaned against the headboard, weakly gazing out the window. Umbrella Man's villa was brightly lit tonight; a party was being held inside. Yet, Autumn Wind felt no urge to sneak a peek. Her heart, exposed along with Leo's sexual orientation, lay bare in the darkness of the night.
She had never felt so deeply aware of her own selfishness. Had she harmed Fish?
The next morning, Fish came to wake Autumn Wind, who was still feeling heavy-hearted from yesterday's events.
Fish walked to Autumn Wind's bedside and, seeing her lack of spirit, sighed deeply. "Don't think about it anymore. Jak went back to America last night... He had expressed a desire to come visit you."
"Jak wants to see me?"
"Yeah, but I helped you refuse!" Fish said casually.
"Well, refusing is fine. I..." Autumn Wind really didn't know how to face Jak, especially in front of the woman who deeply loved Leo, while welcoming the man Leo loved.
The complexities of relationships made Autumn Wind feel an urge to escape.
"Actually, things between Jak and me aren't as bad as you think. We've become good friends..." Fish's tone remained light.
"You two are good friends?" Autumn Wind found it hard to believe.
"If you don't believe it, that's fine... Oh, did they really hold a party across the street last night?" Fish walked over to Autumn Wind's window and looked at the neatly dressed Maid cleaning up the remnants.
"Yeah, it sounded quite lively!"
"You didn't go because of her, right?" Fish turned around, raised an eyebrow, and asked Autumn Wind.
"Her? Who is she?" This left Autumn Wind a bit confused.
"It's Jolie, don't you know that the owner across is her brother?"
What? Umbrella Man is Jolie's brother! A bucket of cold water poured over Autumn Wind's head, and she couldn't help but shiver. "Are you sure?"
"Of course, isn't there anything about Wu Ge's background? The Jolie family is a major shareholder of HK Group, though it seems they aren't anymore... and now you, Autumn Wind, have become a major shareholder!" Fish always had a way of bringing up things that interested Autumn Wind.
"Why?" Autumn Wind continued to ask.
"Didn't you hear about the big family inheritance dispute that happened recently?"
"The family inheritance dispute? Yours is the family that has been fighting over the company..." Autumn Wind's mind turned as she recalled that there indeed was such a matter. "You mean that's the Jolie family!" Autumn Wind remembered seeing similar information in Liu Jian's case files; it turned out he really did have a connection with Jolie.
The feeling of being deceived surged up, making Autumn Wind uncomfortable, but she quickly recovered. They had broken up after all; it was better to forget these things. She looked up at Fish with hopeful eyes, eager for more news.
Fish responded to Autumn Wind's anticipation with a smile: "It seems Qiu Hai got 0 because he is the eldest son, while Jolie got 5, probably because she was adopted. The remaining shares were distributed among some relatives whose names I can't recall..."
At this point, Fish squinted his eyes. "Now you should understand why HK keeps inviting you to their Shareholders Meeting. Besides Qiu Hai, you're the largest shareholder. Anyone wanting to establish themselves in HK will definitely need to win you over!"
Autumn Wind truly didn't know any of this; she thought to herself that Umbrella Man's name was Qiu Hai!
She also walked to the window and stood beside Fish, looking at Qiu Hai's villa.
A tall and handsome figure, dressed in a pure white tracksuit, was exercising on the terrace.
"Pretty handsome, right?" Fish said to Qiu Hai in a cheerful tone. In Fish's world, men were divided into two categories: handsome and not handsome.
Autumn Wind didn't respond; she stared at Qiu Hai for a moment. From this angle, he resembled someone, someone that Autumn Wind kept buried deep in her heart. "Is he really Jolie's brother?"
"Is there any doubt about it? Oh, by the way, do you remember that street game show on the TV station around this time last year?"
Autumn Wind shook her head; there were so many street shows that it was hard to remember them all.
"You don't know? It's a situational simulation show for unexpected street scenarios! I remember that Qiu Hai was the producer for the early episodes!" Fish shared her hidden knowledge with Autumn Wind.
"Him? Isn't he from HK? Being a producer seems out of place!"
"What do you know? He studied television production. That British TV station hired him at a high salary. If I had such a large inheritance to inherit, I wouldn't go either..."
Television production? Autumn Wind had a faint impression of it. At that moment, Qiu Hai noticed Autumn Wind and Fish Duo's gaze. He leaned against the terrace railing and greeted Autumn Wind, "Good morning, ladies!"
Qiu Hai's face was fully visible to Autumn Wind. She suddenly remembered that there was a mole on his brow. She squinted to look at his brow; it was too far away to see clearly, but a vague shadow emerged from the depths of Autumn Wind's heart.
It seemed like they had indeed crossed paths before.
Upon hearing Qiu Hai's greeting, Fish waved enthusiastically, "Good morning, Mr. Qiu!"
Autumn Wind silently looked at Qiu Hai, then finally left the window and walked toward the bedroom door.
"Hey, Autumn Wind, where are you going?" When Fish saw Autumn Wind leave, he shouted after her.
"To eat! What else can I do?"
"Okay, wait for me!"
When Autumn Wind went downstairs, Sister Liu had already prepared breakfast. Today, Sister Li took a day off, so Sister Liu was busy alone. Ahe volunteered to help in the kitchen.
Autumn Wind sat in the host's seat, with Fish and Oke on her right side, while the other four stood by the table, waiting to serve tea and food.
"You all should eat together!" Autumn Wind looked up at the four of them; she really couldn't accept this kind of lavish lifestyle.
Fish also cheerfully invited, "Come sit down!" as she reached out to pull Ahe, who was closest to her. Ahe's face instantly turned red.
"Uncle Liu, come eat with us!"
Hearing Autumn Wind's invitation, the four of them obediently sat at the table. Even so, Sister Liu still played the role of a maid, serving everyone their meals one by one.
Then she obediently sat next to Old Liu, helping him pick food.
This scene of mutual care suddenly made Autumn Wind feel an urge to cry. Afraid that her tears would be seen, she buried her head in her bowl and ate without any grace.
The actions of Autumn Wind left everyone a bit stunned. Just as they were unsure of what to do, a knock came from outside the door.
Old Liu put down his utensils and rushed to the door, while everyone's gaze shifted towards it. Taking advantage of their distraction, Autumn Wind quickly wiped away her tears with a tissue.
At the door stood the middle-aged man from Qiu Hai's family, dressed in a green uniform, holding a beautifully packaged box. "Excuse me, is Sister Qiu here?"
Autumn Wind stood up and walked to the door. "What’s the matter?"
"This is a gift from last night's banquet. Although Sister Qiu didn't attend, my master still specially prepared one for you. Please accept it!"
Autumn Wind glanced at the box; it was a watch box, from the same place that Liu Jian had given her for her birthday. Based on her understanding of that brand, it should be quite valuable. "Thank you, but I can't accept this gift... Please take it back!"
The middle-aged man showed a troubled expression, and Yu immediately stepped in to smooth things over. "Oh, Autumn Wind, you've already turned him down once. If you refuse again, how will he explain it when he goes back?" She walked up to the middle-aged man and took the watch. "Alright, Sister Qiu will accept it. Please convey our thanks!"
The middle-aged man slightly bowed and retreated.
Yu opened the watch box. "Wow, isn't this the same model that someone else gave? This must be worth several million!" Yu exclaimed in surprise.
Autumn Wind frowned. "I've finished eating; I'm going to rest!" She turned and walked upstairs.
"Hey, Autumn Wind, what are you doing? Sister Liu, please help me take care of Oke!" With that, she followed Autumn Wind into her room.
"Hey, what's wrong? Aren't you happy to receive such a nice gift?"
"Why should I be happy? Isn't this obviously meant to embarrass me? I owe him fifty thousand, and he gives me a watch. What does that mean?"
"You owe him fifty thousand? I thought you were just going to give him money to buy a bottle of red wine as a thank-you gift for not being able to attend!" Yu said quietly. "But why are you paying him back?"
"Don't you know? You don't even know such an important piece of news! Do you not see how my car accident happened? Didn't you read the newspaper?" Autumn Wind angrily picked up the water on the table and gulped it down.
"Hey, you can't drink ice water! Are you trying to kill yourself?" She snatched the cup from Autumn Wind's hand and pulled her onto the bed. "I get it now, you scratched his car, and the fifty thousand is compensation, but he returned a million-dollar watch. You think it's an insult!"
"What does he mean by that?"
"You can't think like that. Maybe he just wants to get on your good side since he needs to establish himself in Hong Kong. Your shares are crucial. Or maybe he just wants to express an apology on behalf of Jolie!" Yu shared her thoughts.
"He doesn't need to be so kind!" Autumn Wind replied coldly.
Seeing that Autumn Wind was still furious, Yu decided not to persuade her any further. She placed the diamond watch on the table. "I'm leaving now. Just calm down, and remember not to drink cold water..."
After saying that, Yu left the room. Autumn Wind glanced at the diamond watch and buried her head in the blanket.
