Since Qiu Ruolan was kidnapped by the gang, Liu Jiajia has done everything possible to cancel all her remaining performances.
Qiu Ruolan guessed from Kedan and others that this incident was related to Qiu Feng. She wanted to hold Qiu Feng accountable but was afraid of provoking Autumn Wind's displeasure, so she ultimately gave up.
In the lounge of Qiu Ruolan's management company, the assistants had already dispersed, leaving only two bodyguards standing at the door, elite personnel specially arranged for her by Wang Ling.
Liu Jiajia stared at Qiu Ruolan with her round eyes and began to report on recent developments. "Sister Sally, have you met with Autumn Wind recently?" Liu Jiajia knew well the bitterness of being a "Second Generation Star" like Autumn Wind. After observing for some time, she had guessed that Qiu Ruolan's relationship with Autumn Wind was not very good, at least not as good as Qiu Ruolan portrayed it to be.
"Oh, she's not feeling very well..." Qiu Ruolan said thoughtfully while scrolling through her phone, her eyes dim and lacking luster. After a moment of silence, she continued, "Are there any other activities besides that play?"
"I’ve helped you cancel all the other events and parties... it's just..." Liu Jiajia hesitated.
"What is it? It's fine..." Qiu Ruolan forced a smile and looked at Liu Jiajia.
"On the second day after that incident, Mr. Qiu Hai sent an assistant to visit you. I helped you decline, but... he left an invitation. It’s for his birthday, and he hopes you can attend!" Liu Jiajia was afraid of provoking Qiu Ruolan's displeasure and spoke the word "birthday" very softly.
Qiu Hai's birthday? Qiu Ruolan bit her lower lip. "Is it at Autumn Wind's place?" After meeting Liu Jiajia's gaze and receiving a confirming answer, she gently nodded. "Alright, I’ll go!"
Since Liu Jian helped Autumn Wind out, Autumn Wind hadn't stood by the window looking into Qiu Hai's room for a long time.
The window opened, and the curtains danced wildly in the wind. Leaning on the bed, she looked through the gaps in the fluttering curtains toward the opposite side. Qiu Hai's figure appeared hazily in the window. Suddenly feeling restless, she jumped up and ruthlessly closed the window. The fluttering curtains stopped moving and obediently fell in front of the window.
Of course, she could no longer see Qiu Hai's figure.
On one side was Liu Jian, on the other was Qiu Hai. Even though she knew that love had become unbalanced, she dared not face it. This lifetime was destined to owe Liu Jian too much; how could she dare to stab him again?
Hasty footsteps echoed in the hallway as Uncle Liu's deep voice sounded from outside the door. "Sister, someone from Qiu Mansion is here to visit you..."
"You can handle it yourself!" A faint voice came out; Autumn Wind didn't know how to face it.
"This, he asked to see you..." Uncle Liu revealed his difficulty.
See me? I got out of bed and rushed to the window. Pulling back the curtains, I saw Qiu Hai still standing on the opposite balcony, holding a cup in his hand. When he noticed Autumn Wind appear, he raised his cup and took a sip, smiling proudly.
That expression seemed like he was looking at a pet in a cage. Biting my lip, I dashed out the door and went downstairs under Uncle Liu's bent back. In the hall, Old Cheng was sitting on the sofa. Upon seeing Autumn Wind come down, he immediately stood up, "Sister Qiu!"
Old Cheng's tone was very much like Qiu Hai's, with each pause feeling strange.
Autumn Wind quickly spotted the huge box next to Old Cheng and pouted, "What is that?"
"Ah, hehe!" Old Cheng's laughter gave Autumn Wind an ominous premonition. "This is a gift from my young master to Sister Qiufeng..."
"To me?" My eyes narrowed slightly, my words carrying a hint of inquiry.
"It's clearly for my young master's birthday party. He hopes Sister Qiufeng can attend as scheduled!" Old Cheng lowered his head.
Autumn Wind realized that there must be a dress inside the box; Qiu Hai meant for her to wear it to attend.
With a cold snort, I figured Qiu Hai had other plans. "Go back and tell your young master that I don't have time tomorrow!" My voice was stern as I imagined Qiu Hai's furious expression, feeling quite pleased.
"My young master, you definitely have time!" Old Cheng kept his head down, his tone as calm as ever. After finishing, he slightly bowed his head, "Sister Qiufeng, I will take my leave now!" Without raising his head, he walked straight away.
Autumn Wind followed his gaze and indeed saw Old Cheng heading towards Liu Jian's house. She guessed some of Qiu Hai's intentions.
Returning to the sofa, she opened the box to find a red fitted backless dress. A note slipped out as Autumn Wind unfolded the dress and fell to the ground—"If you want to start your life anew, please come attend..."
The use of the word "please" was unlike Qiu Hai's usual style. Autumn Wind stared at the note, pondering its meaning. She suddenly felt that Qiu Hai's handwriting was very familiar, resembling someone she knew but couldn't quite place...
Fish unexpectedly got off work early. Dressed in a fitted suit, she appeared capable and shrewd. However, when the word "shrewd" popped into Autumn Wind's mind, she couldn't help but chuckle softly. If she were truly shrewd, she wouldn't so foolishly cater to Leo's tastes.
"Wow, what do you have in your hand!" Fish immediately spotted the dress in front of Autumn Wind.
"Nothing, just a dress!" Autumn Wind hurriedly crumpled the note into a ball and held it tightly in her palm.
Fish touched the soft fabric of the dress, looking from side to side, and pouted, "I went to the DK store to order clothes but couldn't get any. Turns out you bought it! Wait, wait, when did you start liking this kind of dress?"
"Is it expensive?" Autumn Wind's hand also glided over the dress.
"Always asking if it's expensive makes you seem so tacky..." Fish stretched the dress over Autumn Wind to measure it. "Is Sister Sally here? Oh, it fits perfectly! You will definitely look great in this dress!"
"Oh..."
"What do you mean 'oh'? You have an event to attend in that dress!" Fish noticed that Autumn Wind was not in a good mood. "Is there something you're hiding from me?"
Autumn Wind had no intention of keeping anything from Fish. Hearing her probing questions, she bit her lip and told her about what happened with Old Cheng earlier.
"Wow, is this him asking you out?" Fish clasped her hands together, putting on a lovesick expression. "That kind of man is so domineering!"
Autumn Wind didn't think so and continued awkwardly, "But... Old Cheng also went to Liu Jian..."
"Who is Liu Jian? What does he have to do with you?" Fish raised her chin. "The situation is already clear: Qiu Hai and Liu Jian are both pursuing you. But a good horse doesn't turn back to eat old grass. I support Qiu Hai! Besides, right now you..." Fish blinked her eyes, looking as if she could see through everything. "You can't be too accommodating; otherwise, you'll miss out on true love!"
She grabbed Autumn Wind's hand. "For Ming's birthday party, wear this dress and show everyone who the real hostess is!" Then she became dejected. "Look at my situation; I've been trying so hard to pursue..."
"People need to pursue something without hesitation to feel like their lives are worthwhile!" Fish's gaze was filled with longing and a hint of melancholy as she couldn't help but think about her own situation with Leo.
Autumn Wind stared blankly at Fish; her tone reminded her so much of two years ago when Leo encouraged her to pursue Qiu Mowen.
A pang of heartache surged within her. She nodded vigorously; this time would be different from last time—she would not give up halfway!
Another voice emerged, suggesting that if Leo did not like men, he and the fish would certainly have a happy family.
Next, Qiu Hai's birthday party.
After Autumn Wind dressed up, she sat in the living room waiting for Qiu Ruolan to arrive. Early in the morning, Qiu Ruolan called, saying she wanted to appear together with Autumn Wind.
The music in the neighboring courtyard of Qiu Hai had already started, but Qiu Ruolan was nowhere to be seen. Autumn Wind instructed Uncle Liu to make a call. The phone rang for a while, but no one answered.
Could something have happened again? Autumn Wind immediately felt restless. The butler from Liu Jian's house, Old Li, hurried over. "Sister Qiufeng, Qiu Ruolan and my young master have already entered Qiu Dong's birthday party. I came to tell you that you don't need to wait for her anymore!"
Her and Liu Jian? What does that mean? Autumn Wind felt a bit annoyed; if it weren't for maintaining an elegant image, she would have truly acted like Mother Tiger. Keeping her composure, she gently raised her hand and said, "Okay, I understand!"
Qiu Hai stood at the door and looked up to see Qiu Ruolan linking arms with Liu Jian as they walked toward him. He exchanged glances with Liu Jian, a smile creeping onto his lips. As he shook hands with Liu Jian, he leaned in and whispered, "Is this your reinforcements?"
"No, it's an alliance, not reinforcements!" Liu Jian retorted lightly, though his expression remained unchanged.
Qiu Hai smiled, revealing his neat teeth. "Very good, very good. Manager Liu, please!" His tone suddenly rose.
Liu Jian stepped forward, but Qiu Ruolan remained motionless.
From Qiu Ruolan's indifferent expression, he sensed that something might happen. He shrugged and walked into the banquet hall by himself.
Qiu Ruolan stared wide-eyed at Qiu Hai. She had just learned about the current situation from Liu Jian's words. Her delicate face showed dissatisfaction as she stepped closer to Qiu Hai and gritted her teeth, saying, "What exactly do you want to do?"
This made Qiu Hai realize that Qiu Ruolan was already aware of the conflict between him and Liu Jian. "What do I want to do? It's just as you know!" he replied with a hint of amusement in his tone.
"Do you know what this means? You and Ervin are good friends; how can you do this to him? Autumn Wind should call you uncle; do you realize that?" Qiu Ruolan invoked Qiu Mowen's name in an attempt to pressure Qiu Hai.
The mention of Qiu Mowen's name indeed made Qiu Hai shudder involuntarily. His smiling face stiffened for a moment but quickly returned to normal. He leaned closer to Qiu Ruolan's ear and softly said, "So what if he's my uncle? He can be moved; why can't I?"
Her words were soft, yet each one pierced like a needle into Qiu Ruolan's heart. "You..." Qiu Ruolan's face turned pale as she pointed a finger at Qiu Hai's nose.
Suppressing Qiu Ruolan's finger, Qiu Hai's eyes softened a bit more. "I understand Ervin's reluctance better than you do. Please trust me..."
Qiu Ruolan's teeth chattered in anger, her whole body trembling. "You better remember every word you said!" With that, she flicked her sleeve and turned away.
Qiu Hai's gentleness gradually faded into the noisy music as he waved to Old Cheng and whispered, "Has Autumn Wind arrived?"
"No, not yet! But..."
"But what!" Old Cheng's hesitation annoyed Qiu Hai.
Old Cheng lowered his voice further. "I just heard that Sister Qiufeng is angry at home?" He relayed the information he got from Old Li to Qiu Hai.
Hearing that Autumn Wind was upset with Qiu Ruolan, Qiu Hai sneered. "You keep an eye on the guests; I'll personally invite Sister Qiu!"
