"It’s Leo! That voice is Leo!"
Autumn Wind shouted, and as Fish, who had just reached the stairs, heard her blurt out "Leo," he suddenly stopped, clutching Oke's shoulder and began to shake, low sobs escaping him.
Autumn Wind realized what was happening; Fish's unusual behavior meant that Leo had returned!
"Wait there, I’ll come to get you right away!" Autumn Wind shouted into the phone before quickly hanging up. "Uncle Liu, Uncle Liu, get the car ready!" She grabbed her coat and hurriedly put it on but then slowed down, taking off the clothes she had just put on.
Swallowing hard, she said softly, "Fish, I'm not feeling well. Can you go pick up Leo for me?"
Fish stopped crying, not daring to look back at Autumn Wind. He ran down the stairs with a thud, and the door was pushed open with the sound of several footsteps.
Autumn Wind suddenly remembered something and rushed to the window, shouting into the courtyard, "Ahe, you stay home. Sister Jiang and Uncle Liu can go!"
Ahe's hand resting on the car door stiffened for a moment before slowly sliding down. He looked at Fish with a resentful gaze, but Fish avoided his eyes and climbed into the car, rolling up the window.
Autumn Wind didn’t have the courage to look at Ahe’s dejected expression and quickly turned away.
Autumn Wind's earlier disregard had driven Qiu Hai mad. The moment she turned around, a pair of large hands gripped her shoulders, and piercing eyes stared at her. "Were you just ignoring me?"
This question completely exposed Qiu Hai's panic; he was afraid of being ignored. A strange sense of satisfaction surged within him—this man was actually afraid of being overlooked...
With a cold laugh, she pried Qiu Hai's fingers off her shoulders one by one. "I just didn’t see you!"
This statement was even more severe than her previous disregard. Qiu Hai’s cold face became frantic as he began to mutter to himself, "Didn’t see you, didn’t see you..." After muttering it several times, he broke into a silent laugh.
But this smile made Autumn Wind feel scared; no, this wasn’t how someone in love should behave.
Her hands trembled slightly as they clenched together in fear. Swallowing hard again, tears began to fall as she looked up at Qiu Hai. "I’m sorry..."
As she spoke, tears dripped down her cheeks one by one, falling onto Qiu Hai’s heart and extinguishing all his frenzy. Tender feelings quickly sprouted within him.
Warm hands brushed across Autumn Wind’s face gently wiping away her tears. He pulled her into an embrace, softly patting her back while whispering comfortingly, "Don’t cry, don’t cry!"
Quietly nestled together, their heartbeats gradually synchronized. The heart that had been racing wildly since last night finally calmed down. This was the love that Autumn Wind had hoped for.
"Bang!" A loud noise came from downstairs; something had happened again!
Autumn Wind was about to push Qiu Hai away again, but this time Qiu Hai held her tightly and joked, "A woman must learn to be elegant!" As he spoke, he linked arms with Autumn Wind and walked down the stairs with a dignified demeanor.
Thick smoke wafted from the kitchen; although there was a barrier, it still spread into the living room.
Ah Wei and Sister Liu were bustling in and out, while Ahe stood at the kitchen door with a panicked expression, frozen in place.
Autumn Wind tried to break free but was held back. Qiu Hai led her to the sofa and gestured for her to sit down. He then walked calmly in front of Ahe, asking in a chilling tone, "Did you cause this mess?"
Ahe slowly raised her head and nodded lightly, "Yes!"
The smoke in the kitchen lessened somewhat, and Ah Wei and Sister Liu came out gasping for air but were stopped by Qiu Hai, who said, "You two don’t need to be busy; whoever caused the trouble should handle it themselves!"
Ah Wei looked at Autumn Wind in confusion. Before she could respond, Ahe had already taken the towel from Sister Liu's hand and rushed back into the kitchen.
Qiu Hai waved his hand gently, signaling Ah Wei and Sister Liu to attend to other matters. He then calmly sat beside Autumn Wind, reproaching her slightly, "Your Maid is just like you!"
My Maid? Autumn Wind felt as if she had been struck by something. "Yes, my Maid is just like me. So may I ask, what gives you the right to discipline my people?"
Qiu Hai, who had spoken casually, sensed something was off when he saw how upset Autumn Wind was. He gritted his teeth and said softly, "It was just a joke; are you angry?" When did I, Qiu Hai, ever lower myself like this?
He wanted to embrace Autumn Wind, but she shifted slightly away from him.
With a long sigh, he changed the subject. "Is there something going on between Sister Jiang and Ahe?"
Autumn Wind was taken aback. "How do you know this?"
Her expression confirmed Qiu Hai's speculation. He laughed heartily but suddenly stopped short. "Oke is Leo's child!"
The tone suggested that he and Leo were not just ordinary acquaintances. Autumn Wind stared wide-eyed at Qiu Hai, bit her lip, and asked softly, "Do you know Leo?"
Qiu Hai was startled and quickly changed his tone, "No, I just guessed from your reaction just now!" Afraid that Autumn Wind would press further, he quickly added, "You know, there have been rumors outside that Xu Zhongyao can't have children..." His voice was frantic, so frantic.
This made Autumn Wind even more puzzled. A person who had never met Leo actually knew that Oke was Leo's child. Even someone like Qiu Ruolan, who could meet with Yu every few days, probably didn't know who Oke's biological father was!
There must be something fishy about this!
Time passed second by second, and the moment when Leo would appear drew closer. Autumn Wind leaned against the back of the sofa, watching Ahe busying herself in the kitchen. The smoke had gradually dissipated, and the exhaust fan was humming; soon, there was no smell at all.
Qiu Hai sat across from Autumn Wind, fiddling with his phone to handle company matters. Calls came in from time to time asking for Qiu Hai's opinions.
Autumn Wind stared at Qiu Hai, her thoughts scattered and flying everywhere. Finally, when he put down the phone again, she spoke up, "Why don't you just go back to the company?"
The main reason for Autumn Wind's suggestion was that she didn't know how to introduce Qiu Hai when Leo appeared.
"Isn't it good for me to be here?" Qiu Hai looked up at Autumn Wind with deep affection.
Besides wanting to stay by Autumn Wind's side, more importantly, he wasn't ready to face Liu Jian yet. He didn't want to appear so strong; he clearly realized that he had taken something from Liu Jian.
Autumn Wind rubbed her hands together, staring at Qiu Hai. Her lips parted slightly as she trembled, wanting to speak but getting choked up.
Qiu Hai met Autumn Wind's gaze and smiled lightly before continuing with his work.
When Yu and Uncle Liu arrived at the airport, Leo had already been waiting for over half an hour.
Just as patience reached its limit, he suddenly heard a familiar voice calling his name. Following the sound excitedly and waving his hand as he rushed over, his steps slowed when he saw Yu with her newly cut short hair.
Yu hurriedly walked up to Leo. Seeing him staring in shock at her hair, she scratched her head with her empty hand and said, "Autumn Wind, I look good like this!"
From Yu's expression and actions, Uncle Liu had already confirmed that the strong and handsome man in front of him was the person they were here to pick up. He bent down to take Leo's luggage.
Oke stared at Leo with round eyes, tears welling up, pouting and crying out loud, while reaching out his hands towards Leo for a hug.
Just as the fish was about to shake, Oke used his waist strength to directly dive into Leo's arms. The force was too strong, and the fish couldn't control it, sending him straight into Leo's embrace.
Leo froze for a moment, unsure of how to react to this little one burrowing into his arms. He took a closer look; compared to half a year ago when he had secretly observed him at the Los Angeles airport, he had grown quite a bit.
A few seconds later, Leo finally found the feeling of being a father. He wrapped one arm around Oke, while the other hand went into his pocket as he walked towards the parking lot with the crowd. With his handsome face and long legs, he resembled a fashionable dad who could be photographed on the streets of Milan at any moment.
Once the car left the airport, it headed straight for Autumn Wind Villa. Along the way, aside from entertaining Oke, there was no communication between the fish and Leo.
Oke quietly leaned against Leo, refusing to sit in a child seat or let the fish hold him. He simply rested in Leo's arms, not crying or making a fuss, occasionally babbling softly with the limited vocabulary he had to communicate with Leo.
The car slowly drove into the Villa Area. As it turned at the intersection leading to Autumn Wind Villa, another car approached from the opposite direction. For safety reasons, both cars came to a stop before reversing; Uncle Liu halted.
That car also stopped. The window rolled down, revealing Liu Jian. Leo turned his head and recognized him. Holding the drowsy Oke, he got out of the car to greet Liu Jian. The fish reached out as if to stop him, but it was too late; Leo had already walked over to Liu Jian's car.
He gently rocked Oke while looking at Liu Jian. "Are you going to work?" Leo was unaware of what had recently happened between Autumn Wind and Liu Jian.
Not knowing what to say to Leo, Liu Jian could only smile faintly at him.
Turning back to look at the entire Villa Area, Leo smiled and said, "I didn't expect that Autumn Wind has such good taste to find a diamond man like you!"
The corners of Liu Jian's mouth twitched slightly as he replied in a low voice, "We broke up!"
"Then..." Leo was taken aback, realizing his abruptness but unwilling to let the topic end there. His gaze darted towards the villa behind them.
"It was left for her by Ervin! It's getting late; I have to go!" Liu Jian pretended to check the time before stepping on the gas and leaving.
Thinking of Qiu Mowen's departure brought sadness over Leo, causing his nose to tingle as tears nearly fell.
Once placed down from the car by Leo, Oke regained his energy. He twisted around on Leo, resembling a monkey trying to climb a tree. Approaching Uncle Liu, Leo asked, "Is it still far?"
"No, the third building ahead!" Uncle Liu pointed ahead.
Leo nodded, shaking Oke vigorously, whispering, "Shall we walk home?"
Oke giggled, lightly patting Leo's face a few times. The fish almost cried out, but Leo burst into laughter as he tossed Oke high into the air and caught her. "Does that count as a yes?"
They walked towards Autumn Wind Villa, laughing.
The fish signaled Uncle Liu to speed up and head back to the villa first. Uncle Liu stepped on the gas and drove to the villa entrance.
Autumn Wind heard the sound of the car and rushed to the courtyard before Ahe and the others could come out. Qiu Hai followed closely behind after putting down what he was holding.
As the car came to a stop, Autumn Wind approached and opened the car door, only to see the fish sticking its head out.
"Where's Leo? Where's your son?" Not seeing Leo and Oke, Autumn Wind shouted loudly.
Oke's giggles echoed from outside the courtyard wall, prompting Autumn Wind to quickly run out of the courtyard.
