Autumn Wind had not driven for a long time. The road was slippery from the rain, and he was nervous, praying that nothing would go wrong with the car while also hoping to drive out of the villa smoothly.
Finally, when he arrived at the entrance of Villa Area, he let out a long breath, stopped the car, got out, and moved to the passenger seat. Just as he fastened his seatbelt, a shadow rushed out from the security room and dove into the driver's seat.
Autumn Wind reported the location of the incident, and the shadow quickly started the car and sped away.
After more than ten minutes, they finally reached the scene of the incident. Without waiting for the car to turn off, Autumn Wind jumped out.
The woman's hair was already soaked from the rain, and her once exquisite makeup had run down her face. Several burly men surrounded her, shouting loudly. She looked so helpless, her eyes filled with confusion.
When she saw Autumn Wind emerge from the passenger seat holding an umbrella, it was as if she had seen a savior. She dashed out of the crowd and ran to Autumn Wind. “Autumn Wind, you finally came! They want me to pay fifty thousand! What should I do? It was just a little bump!”
As she spoke, her eyes were filled with hope as she glanced toward the driver's seat, secretly wishing for that person she hoped for to appear.
The car turned off, and the door opened. A pair of long legs stepped out onto the ground. It was him, Leo! Leo had come! He really came!
Her eyes lit up as she followed his legs upward, but she felt disappointed; it wasn't Leo, but Ahe!
“Why didn’t he come?” Her expression dimmed instantly as she turned to Autumn Wind and murmured.
Autumn Wind understood her disappointment and gently pulled on her arm. “Well, Leo...,” Should he tell her what clear answer Leo had given? But seeing her dejected state made him reluctant.
With a long sigh, she gently pushed away Autumn Wind's hand that was holding her arm, bit her lip, swayed slightly, and walked dejectedly toward the group of men.
“Hey, hold the umbrella! You’ll catch a cold like this!” Autumn Wind wanted to pull her back but missed. He quickened his pace to follow her while occasionally glancing back at the equally dejected Ahe.
Ahe wore no expression on his face as he locked the car and walked quickly toward her. Despite feeling lost and upset himself, he knew he couldn't let her get hurt.
He rushed to her side and blocked her with his body. “I’ll handle this! You all leave!” He spread his arms wide to prevent any contact between her and those burly men.
The fish extended its hand and gently pushed Ahe aside. A soft voice came through, "Move aside!" The tone was calm, yet clearly laced with coldness and resentment. The fish walked in front of Ahe, turned to glance at him, then made eye contact with Autumn Wind. Suddenly, she burst into laughter, almost maniacally, "Hahaha, hahaha... how could it be like this!"
She raised her hands high above her head, as if to dance wildly or shield herself from the rain, but her laughter remained frenzied, her entire being exhibiting a state of madness.
"Fish, Fish! What’s wrong with you?" Autumn Wind held up an umbrella with one hand and grabbed her shoulder with the other, shaking her vigorously. "What’s wrong? What’s wrong?"
"I'm fine!" She suddenly quieted down, her manic gaze turning calm, her face devoid of any expression. Her sorrow and joy were hidden beneath this tranquil facade. "I'm really fine!" She looked at Autumn Wind and repeated it again.
Reaching under her bag, she pulled out her wallet, took out a wad of cash, and handed it to one of the burly men who had just surrounded her, the one who seemed to be in charge. "Here you go!"
"You’re crazy! You don’t even understand the situation and you’re giving money!" Autumn Wind reached out to stop her, but the fish deftly twisted her wrist to evade Autumn Wind and directly stuffed the money into the man's hand.
The man accepted the cash and counted it carefully.
Autumn Wind shouted loudly, "Hey! Are you trying to scam us? Ahe, call the police!"
"No need!" The fish's cold voice came through as she lifted her head and gave Autumn Wind a bitter smile before turning to the group of burly men. "Thank you! If something like this happens again, I’ll come find you!"
What? What does that mean? Come find you? Autumn Wind panicked, his face losing color as a voice from deep within emerged—were these people hired by the fish to act?
"Alright, Sister Jiang, it’s been a pleasure working together!" said the leading man, waving his hand to signal the others to bow to the fish before they climbed into the car that had been stuck in a standoff with her umbrella and slowly drove away.
The fish smiled bitterly, but tears began to roll down her cheeks, glistening as they mixed together and disappeared without a trace.
Her body started to tremble; her shoulders shook. Autumn Wind stepped closer to embrace her, but she backed away a few steps before finally squatting down on the ground and crying out softly.
The rain fell heavier and heavier, soaking the fish completely. Her white dress clung tightly to her body, revealing the shape of her underwear underneath. The large sparkling hairpin on her head lost its luster under the relentless downpour.
The fish showed no reaction, and the sound of cars passing by prevented Autumn Wind from hearing her cries. All she could see was the girl's shoulders trembling continuously.
Autumn Wind stepped forward to pull her up from the ground, but she slid down again. Each time Autumn Wind lifted her, she would slip back down, repeating this over and over. Autumn Wind also got soaked by the rain, and her body couldn't help but start shivering. "Jiang Yu, can you be quiet for a moment!" she squatted down and patted the girl's shoulder, scolding loudly.
"I beg you, just let me be quiet here, just for a moment!" She looked up with swollen eyes at Autumn Wind, filled with despair, helplessness, and a sense of giving up.
"You need to come home with me; you'll catch a cold out here!" Autumn Wind tried to pull her up again, but this time the girl became angry. She pushed Autumn Wind away forcefully, causing Autumn Wind to stumble backward.
The girl stood up unsteadily from the ground and shouted at Autumn Wind, "Don't worry about me! There are so many people who care for you and love you; I'm all alone! I don't want your pity; I don't want..." Her roar was cut short when a dark figure suddenly rushed in front of her and picked her up in a firm embrace. In the next moment, she found herself thrown over the shoulder of the shadowy figure. Autumn Wind was stunned and sprang up from the ground, ready to intervene.
However, her movement halted when she realized that the shadow was Ahe.
"Let go of me! Let go of me!" The girl yelled, clenching her fists and hitting Ahe's back. Her slender legs flailed in the air, kicking Ahe's face and hitting his head.
Ahe's steps remained steady as he opened the car door and shoved her inside.
"Let go of me! Don't worry about me!" The car shook violently due to her resistance. "You..." She wanted to shout again when a heavy pair of lips covered hers. Her flailing hands stopped mid-air; her eyes widened in shock as her mind went blank.
She fell completely silent, feeling hollow and directionless. She didn't push Ahe away or do anything at all; she just froze there, motionless.
Ahe straightened up and turned to glance at Autumn Wind, who was slowly approaching them. He reached into the girl's bag to take out her car keys and handed them to Autumn Wind as she arrived beside him. "Sister, can you drive her car home? I..."
"Sure!" Autumn Wind replied immediately without waiting for Ahe to finish. Understanding his intention, she took the keys and walked toward the car parked by the roadside. She circled around it but found no damage on its body.
Inside Autumn Wind Villa.
Oke had already woken up and was playing with the new toy Leo had bought for him on a blanket in the corner of the living room. Leo was half-squatting, his gaze fixed on Oke while occasionally glancing out at the increasingly heavy rain.
Uncle Liu and Awei have returned, laying a thick carpet at the entrance to prevent footprints from dirtying the floor.
Sister Liu stood thoughtfully at the kitchen door, holding an old-fashioned mobile phone. Every so often, she pressed a number, held it to her ear for a while, then sighed and put it down.
Finally, Autumn Wind's car drove back. Awei and Uncle Liu rushed out with a large umbrella, holding it high above the car.
The car door opened, and Ahe got out of the driver's seat, turning to open the door for Yu, who stepped out drenched.
"Is Sister Jiang here? Where is she?" Uncle Liu asked, holding the umbrella for Yu while noticing Ahe's angry expression.
In the meantime, Autumn Wind drove Yu's mini car slowly into view. Just as it entered the courtyard gate, she misjudged the size and scraped against the wall. The car came to a stop with a screech, leaving a long scratch on its side.
"Oh no, this is bad!" Autumn Wind covered her head with her hands and jumped around like a monkey. Awei quickly approached her with the umbrella, but Autumn Wind jumped straight into the villa, standing at the door and shouting at Awei, "Help park the car in the garage!"
Seeing Yu and others still standing in the rain, she jumped over to Yu's side and took her hand to lead her into the villa.
"Achoo!" Autumn Wind sneezed. She wanted to smile but saw Yu with a gloomy face, gritting her teeth without saying a word, her gaze searching for Leo.
When their eyes met, Autumn Wind thought Leo would come over to ask something. However, Leo remained half-squatting, barely glancing this way. This was clearly showing his attitude!
If it weren't for considering Yu's feelings, Autumn Wind would have wanted to curse him out; she just couldn't tolerate Leo like she did with others.
Yu had already started trembling slightly. Sister Liu handed over a large soft towel, which Autumn Wind draped over Yu's shoulders. But Yu turned away, letting the towel fall to the ground. She sniffled and murmured, "Oke is back!" yet her gaze was fixed on Leo, who was playing with Oke.
Leo turned his body completely away from Yu.
Autumn Wind bent down to pick up the towel and draped it over Yu from behind. "Ahe, take Sister Jiang back to your room!" She held onto Yu tightly as they both trembled together.
Until Ahe stood in front of the fish noodles, bent down to embrace the fish's waist, and only released her when she lifted her onto her shoulder. She forcefully straightened the fish's face, stared into her eyes, and said firmly, "True happiness is right beside you, not across from you. What you see across is someone else's happiness. Please let go! The only one you are tormenting is yourself and those who truly love you!"
After that, she glanced at Ahe, who carried the fish on her shoulder and walked upstairs.
The fish's eyes were dull, showing no resistance; she merely lifted her head to look at Leo's determined back.
Ahe's steady steps echoed on the staircase, "tap," "tap."
"Ah..." When Ahe opened the bedroom door, the fish finally couldn't hold back her sadness and screamed loudly.
Oke had not noticed the fish's arrival until that scream made her body tremble slightly. "Mommy, my mommy is back!" She put down the toy in her hand and stood up to look around.
"Ah... woo..." The fish's cries echoed throughout the entire villa.
Oke's glassy eyes turned as she recognized it was the fish crying. "Wow! Wow!" She also began to cry. Sister Liu hurried over, picked up Oke, and rocked her gently.
Autumn Wind could no longer hold back; she took off her shoes and threw them fiercely at Leo's head!
