Autumn Wind leaned heavily against the car seat, her eyes suddenly becoming blurry, filled with tears. In an instant, the scenery outside the window rushed backward, quickly becoming a foggy blur.
Soft sobs finally transformed into uncontrollable wailing. Suddenly, a long hand reached from the front seat, holding a pack of tissues. Autumn Wind slightly controlled her convulsions and took it with tear-filled eyes, gently wiping away the tears at the corners of her eyes.
But her hand suddenly stopped moving; that hand was not Qiu Hai's!
Autumn Wind raised her head to look forward, and to her surprise, there was another person in the passenger seat—Liu Jian!
Ah, Autumn Wind felt as if she had been pricked by a needle and dropped the tissues from her hand. If she weren't in the car, she would have stood up.
As she straightened up, she bumped her head against the car roof with a "bang," letting out a cry of pain. Instinctively, she reached for her head, her arm brushing against the ear that had been bitten by Qiu Feng, resulting in more cries within the car.
She lay sideways on the back seat, head down, appearing to be in pain but actually just trying to escape the suffocating atmosphere. She pretended to doze off and emitted soft snores.
The car moved steadily forward. She vaguely sensed Liu Jian leaning over to glance at her and felt Qiu Hai take out a cigarette only to put it down heavily again. But all of this was just Autumn Wind's speculation, which only made her feel more anxious.
Finally, she heard real voices—very quiet yet very clear words. The two thought she was truly asleep.
"Have you handled the matter with Ai Lin?" This was Qiu Hai's voice; he deliberately lowered his tone as if struggling to breathe.
"Mm!" Liu Jian replied briefly.
After receiving Liu Jian's response, Qiu Hai continued, "I'll leave the future matters to you!"
"..." This time Liu Jian had no reply. Qiu Hai abruptly stopped the car with a screech. "Why don't you believe me?" His tone suddenly rose before he noticed Autumn Wind lying in the back and lowered his voice again. "You can rest assured this time!"
"No, it's not what you think. I—I don't trust myself; I'm afraid this time..." Liu Jian's tone was hesitant, as if he had something stuck in his mouth.
Qiu Hai let out a heavy sigh and did not continue the topic. "Can we just go home directly?"
Liu Jian remained silent, and Autumn Wind felt that Liu Jian was indicating with a nod.
The car turned a corner and began to drive on a bumpy road. Although the car was quite comfortable, Autumn Wind still felt some jolts, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep!
She had a beautiful dream, in which she dreamt of Guan Xiu. He stood right in front of her, gently stroking her head and asking with concern, "Guanqing, you've grown up so much! Dad is so happy to see you!"
"Yes, yes! I haven't seen you for so long!" Autumn Wind said like a child, circling around Guan Xiu. "Dad, Dad, I want to introduce you to someone!"
"Who is it?" Guan Xiu asked with a kind expression, exuding paternal love in every gesture.
Autumn Wind pulled his hand and bounced over to Qiu Hai. "Dad, Dad, this is my boyfriend! His name is Qiu Hai!"
"Qiu Hai?" Guan Xiu's expression suddenly changed dramatically. "No, no, you two are not suitable!"
"Why not?" Autumn Wind looked up at her father and then turned to Qiu Hai, only to see Qiu Hai transform into Qiu Mowen. She was shocked but then smiled slightly. "Dad, Dad, I was wrong. This is Ervin, Ervin!"
Seeing Guan Xiu's face reveal a hint of a smile, he reached out and patted Qiu Mowen's shoulder. "Not bad, not bad! I like this one!" But in the blink of an eye, Qiu Mowen transformed back into Qiu Hai, and Guan Xiu's expression turned sour again. "Why is it still this Qiu Hai? I don't like him; make him leave!" Guan Xiu shouted as Qiu Hai turned back into Qiu Mowen again, bringing joy back to Guan Xiu's face.
However, it lasted less than five seconds before Qiu Mowen changed back into Qiu Hai again, leading to an endless cycle of transformations.
Finally, Guan Xiu completely broke down. He shouted, "I can't tell them apart anymore! Quickly call Qing'er here!"
Qing'er? Autumn Wind frowned as her body suddenly shrank down to that of a three-year-old child who had just learned to speak. She tugged at the corner of Guan Xiu's clothing. "Dad, Dad, I'm here!"
Guan Xiu bent down and picked up Autumn Wind, pressing his nose against her forehead. "You're being naughty, how can you play such a joke on me? I'm looking for my Qing'er, you're not her; you are my daughter Guanqing! I'm looking for Qing'er..."
"I am Guanqing, I am Qing'er! I am your Qing'er!" Autumn Wind waved her arms and shouted loudly.
Guan Xiu suddenly became furious. "If you keep being this naughty, I'll teach you a lesson!" With that, he loosened his grip, and the childlike Autumn Wind slid down his body towards the ground.
"Ah! Dad, no, ah!" Autumn Wind screamed, kicking her legs in the air. Realizing she had touched the ground, she pushed herself up with force and bounced back.
Wait, how did I end up in my own bed!
Sister Liu heard Autumn Wind's shout and easily pushed open the door. "Sister, you're awake?"
Autumn Wind stretched lazily. Just as she was about to get out of bed, she noticed it was raining outside. Looking at the time on the wall, she thought something was off. "Did I sleep for a long time again?"
"Yes, ever since you came back, you've been in a deep sleep. You slept all night..." Sister Liu replied with concern.
Outside the door came the sound of high heels clicking. "What? Is she still here?" Autumn Wind was asking about Qiu Ruolan; wasn't she busy filming?
"No, it's Sister Jiang. After hearing you were sick, she stayed here all night..." Sister Liu answered. At that moment, Yu had already walked into Autumn Wind's room.
She exclaimed, "Ah, my big sister, you finally woke up!" She reached out and gently stroked Autumn Wind's ear.
Autumn Wind looked up and saw her reflection in the mirror. Only then did she notice that she had somehow changed her bandages without realizing it. She touched it lightly; there was a bit of pain. "You were here yesterday? Don't you have to go to work?" Autumn Wind calculated in her mind; according to the usual schedule, Yu should be working right now!
"Don't mention it; I got fired. Sigh, I didn't expect the job market to be so tough these days!" Yu sighed deeply, her eyes blinking as a glimmer of light suddenly appeared.
Autumn Wind sensed the strange glimmer and instinctively shifted her body back. "You didn't discover some gossip again, did you?"
Yu Gan coughed lightly. "I can't hide it from you. Hey, what exactly happened with Qiu Feng? I heard she was the one who pushed you out."
What!! Autumn Wind widened her eyes in disbelief. How did she know about this? There were no witnesses at the time, and she hadn't talked to anyone about it. Could Yu's gossip radar really reach hundreds of miles away?
Seeing that Autumn Wind only widened her eyes and showed no intention of answering, Yu pushed her lightly. "Hey! Speak up!"
"How do you know about this?" Autumn Wind voiced her confusion.
"Is it that surprising? Isn't everyone in Taipei already aware?" Yu's eyes darted around.
Autumn Wind shook her head in confusion, but her ears began to throb painfully.
Yu Chao moved slightly and then sighed deeply. "Well..." Just as Yu started to speak, Uncle Liu hurriedly ran up the stairs. "Sister, a few police officers are here to take your statement. Are you available?"
Taking a statement? Autumn Wind was puzzled.
"Look at that! Before I could even gossip, they arrived so quickly!" Yu feigned disappointment. Seeing Autumn Wind's shocked expression, she added, "It's about how Qiu Feng pushed you off the cliff!"
"But..."
"But what? You didn't report it, right? That's not the key point; the key is that someone did call the police!" Yu placed her hands on her hips and pushed toward the door. "Alright, we'll talk later. I'll wait for you outside!"
Someone called the police? What on earth is going on! She looked up to see a male and female police officer standing at the door. The Female Officer asked, "Can we come in?"
Autumn Wind nodded slightly. She wanted to get out of bed but was stopped by the officer. “Sister Qiu, no need to be polite, we just have a few simple questions!”
“Um…” Autumn Wind replied.
What the officer said was indeed the same as what the fish had mentioned. Qiu Feng had pushed herself off the cliff, and now everyone in Taipei already knew about it. During post-production, the crew discovered that one of the cameras had not been turned off, and it just so happened to capture the entire process of Qiu Feng pushing Autumn Wind. Not only that, but the angle was so clever that it clearly recorded Qiu Feng’s actions as she pried Autumn Wind’s fingers off the edge of the cliff one by one.
Although Qiu Feng’s expression could not be seen, all her actions conveyed one message: she was determined to kill Autumn Wind.
Even though Autumn Wind completely understood what had happened, she still held onto a bit of avoidance. She tried her best to respond with language that would favor Qiu Feng, explaining how things unfolded. “I don’t know if it was her!” “I think she was just scared!” “I don’t know what happened during the struggle!”
Autumn Wind’s evasion caught the officers' attention. The Female Officer closed her notebook and looked seriously at Autumn Wind. “Sister Qiu, we understand how you feel right now. Although your testimony is no longer very important, we still hope you can truthfully explain what happened at that time…”
“……” Autumn Wind was taken aback. She lowered her head; the female officer was clearly telling her that Qiu Feng’s situation was already set in stone. “Will she be okay?” Autumn Wind asked softly.
The female officer did not respond, only nodded gently. “Alright, Sister Qiu, I see that you’re not feeling well. If your health permits, I hope you can come to the police station for a visit.”
After finishing her words, the female officer stood up. She exchanged a glance with the Male Officer behind her and turned to leave the room.
