"Matchmaker Wang, what brings you here?"
Wang frowned slightly as she looked at the plump woman in front of her. She wondered how this woman dared to come back after trying to match Mei Hua with such a family and deceiving their whole family. Did she really think they were pushovers? If it weren't for Mei Hua's reputation, she would have made this clear and given her a beating long ago. Yet, despite all this, the woman still spoke ill of Mei Hua. Did she think they didn't know it was her who said those things? It felt like she had already taken a hit, and now she was back again, seemingly determined to target their daughter!
Wang was extremely annoyed.
"Matchmaker Wang," she said with a smile, "what could I possibly be here for? My job is matchmaking, and your family has another eager daughter ready to marry off. Of course, I'm here to bring you good news! I have a suitable match for Mei Hua that you will surely be satisfied with!"
"Thank you for your kindness, Matchmaker Wang, but my sister's marriage is not something you need to worry about. You can take your good match elsewhere."
Li Hua said coldly, thinking about how this old hag was ruining people's lives without fear of retribution. After all, how could she not be afraid? Xiao Dashu had already beaten her up once, yet here she was again. Perhaps it was the lure of money that brought her back. Considering how the Gao family was plotting against Mei Hua, it seemed likely that this matchmaker was their first move.
Xiao Lihua thought that since this woman had come, she might as well ask her who was behind her actions.
From the moment Matchmaker Wang entered the room, she noticed Xiao Lihua and recognized her as the daughter of the Xiao family with a particularly bad reputation. She had been too focused on replying to Wang to engage with her directly and was surprised when Xiao Lihua immediately rejected her.
Matchmaker Wang chuckled and said, "So this is Xiao Family's Aunt Li Hua? I've heard so much about you. You seem to be doing quite well now; just look at how you're dressed! But since you're doing well, shouldn't you think about your sister too? She deserves a good match as well. Mei Hua is a good girl; it's just unfortunate she's been delayed. Sisters shouldn't act like this!"
Her words directly pointed out that Xiao Lihua had delayed her sister and now wanted to continue doing so. Matchmaker Wang aimed to provoke Xiao Lihua; she knew Xiao Lihua was formidable but wasn't afraid.
Xiao Lihua snorted and replied, "My sister has been delayed by me, so I will find her a good match myself. You don't need to worry about it; do you understand human language?"
"Hey! Who are you calling unable to understand human language? I'm here to introduce a suitor for your daughter, not to be insulted! No wonder you were kicked out by the Gao family; with an attitude like yours, I would have done the same! It's lucky if you can get married at all; no wonder you're not well-regarded among your in-laws!"
Matchmaker Wang's expression darkened. As a matchmaker, she had heard about every family within a hundred miles and knew of Xiao Lihua's infamous reputation.
In fact, Matchmaker Wang had been approached by someone from the Gao family who wanted her to find a poor match for Mei Hua. She only needed to inquire a bit to learn about what had happened between Xiao Lihua and the Gao family and realized that Mei Hua was being dragged down by her sister once again.
Before Xiao Lihua could respond, Wang lost her temper and shouted, "Who do you think you're talking about? My Li Hua is not someone you can insult! You're not exactly a good person yourself; how dare you speak ill of my family? If you keep talking like that, I'll wash your mouth out!"

Matchmaker Wang stepped back in fright, thinking how protective Wang was of Xiao Lihua. Aren't sisters-in-law supposed to be enemies? "You are the one being foolish. Our family simply does not want you to arrange a marriage. Have you forgotten that not long ago, you arranged a match for Meihua, and we rejected it? Wang said.
Matchmaker Wang was taken aback. The last time the Xiao Family rejected that marriage proposal, she thought it was because they were dissatisfied with the family. She was angry and spread bad rumors about Meihua, hoping to tarnish her reputation further so that she couldn't get married. She did this to fulfill the task given to her by the Gao Family; they had already paid her a sum of money upfront, promising her another half after the deal was done. She didn't want to give up on that. Afterward, she got beaten up and delayed in arranging another match for Meihua until now when she finally came back.
Matchmaker Wang also suspected that the Xiao Family's people were the ones who beat her up, but she had too many enemies to be sure. Uncertain, she still came back to the Xiao Family under Silver's urging. Unexpectedly, before she could say anything this time, someone interrupted her, making her anxious about how to get the other half of Silver. Just as she was about to speak again, two men walked out from the inner room—one was Xiao Dashu, and the other was a man she recognized as Xiao Lihua's husband.
Xiao Dashu said, "Matchmaker Wang, you can offer that good family to someone else."
Matchmaker Wang replied, "Xiao Dashu, when I first introduced you to that family from Wheat Village, you seemed interested at first. But just a few days later, you said it wouldn't work. Now that I've come back, you're rejecting it again. What is going on? Did you listen to your sister's nonsense? She's causing trouble at home and making a scene with the in-laws. Meihua has already been delayed into an old maid; do you want her to stay single forever?"
"My wife is great; what right do you have to speak ill of her?"
Xie Youshun immediately objected when Matchmaker Wang spoke poorly of his wife, glaring at her.
Matchmaker Wang was taken aback; she thought this man was quite protective of his wife. He even defended such a troublesome woman! It seemed he only cared about how good-looking she was. She wanted to mention that Xiao Lihua was an ungrateful girl cast out by the Gao Family but refrained under Xie Youshun's dark gaze.
Xiao Dashu also defended his sister, telling Matchmaker Wang not to speak nonsense.
Xiao Lihua felt pleased with how her husband and brother were standing up for her. Watching Matchmaker Wang's face turn red and pale brought her satisfaction. She thought that since they had already torn off most of her facade, why not tear it all down? She planned to ask if she was sent by the Gao Family or if it was Ruyi or Su Yuanchun who instructed her.
Matchmaker Wang was truly furious; her round face nearly twisted in rage as she imagined Silver flying away like it had sprouted wings, causing her immense pain. In her anger, she blurted out loudly: "Hmph! You’re ungrateful! A country girl who's still an old maid with a bad reputation is picky and choosy! Be careful; if you're too picky, you'll end up marrying an old man as a concubine! Truly, like sister like sister! What kind of family raises what kind of daughter! I offered my goodwill only to be treated like this!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Dashu and the others turned even darker in expression.
Xiao Lihua said to Xie Youshun, "Youshun, go close the door properly. Wait until I finish questioning before letting her leave."
Xie Youshun immediately went to close the door and stood guard in front of it.
Matchmaker Wang jumped in fright and shouted loudly: "What are you doing? Are you planning to hit me? I know people in the government! If you dare touch me, I'll report you!"
Xiao Dashu said: "Hitting you would be too light! The wicked things you've done deserve punishment! Do you really think we're fools? You think you're doing us a favor by introducing my sister to good matches? Nonsense! The last match you introduced us from Wheat Village was colluded with someone else; you wanted my sister to marry a fool! Do you think we don't know? Matchmaker Wang opened her mouth wide in shock; did the Xiao Family find out? She asked Xiao Dashu: "Was it you who hit me last time?"

Seeing this, Xiao Lihua turned around and grabbed a wooden stick from the side, swinging it at Matchmaker Wang. Matchmaker Wang let out a cry as she was hit a few times before she immediately ran to hide behind Wang. However, Wang dodged to the side, and no matter how she tried to escape, she couldn't avoid Xiao Lihua's stick. In the end, after being beaten painfully, she couldn't hold back any longer and finally shouted the truth.

Xie Youshun asked. He had been prepared for this, but upon hearing that it was indeed his sister trying to harm his wife’s sister, he felt furious inside. How could Ruyi have turned out like this?

Xiao Lihua frowned and scared Matchmaker Wang a bit more, warning her that if she dared to target the Xiao Family again, she wouldn't let her off easily. If it were Su Yuanchun who had done this, they could have dragged Matchmaker Wang to confront the Gao Family about it. But it was Ruyi! Looking at Xie Youshun's gloomy face, Xiao Lihua cursed Ruyi in her heart.
