After killing Ling Jicheng, Ling Mo Xie glanced at the luxurious carriage that had turned into a pile of wreckage and cursed his bad luck, only to realize he was lost! 0

Looking around, all he could see were the same tall, green trees. Without any flying skills and being a complete academic failure, he couldn't even tell directions! What was he supposed to do? 0

With no other choice, Ling Mo Xie decided to pick a direction and walked toward it. He hadn't heard of any particularly dangerous forests in the outskirts of Skywind City, so it should be fine, right? 0

After walking for an unknown amount of time, just as Ling Mo Xie was about to turn around and change direction, a chilling sword light shot toward him at lightning speed! "Boom!" Fortunately, Ling Mo Xie reacted quickly and cast a Fireball skill just in time. The sword light dissipated the Fireball before vanishing. 0

Ling Mo Xie's brow furrowed; this sword light was quite powerful, even stronger than Chen Wen's Ice Arrow! Since it was sword light, it couldn't be from a Spirit Beast; it must be from a person! But who would be here? 0

A wave of confusion washed over him. Not seeing the person’s location, Ling Mo Xie cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted, "Whoever you are, please don't mistake me for a Spirit Beast! I mean no harm; I'm just lost!" 0

"Who are you? How did you find your way here?" A young voice came back, filled with caution and a hint of fear. Ling Mo Xie smiled; it was definitely a person! However, the voice sounded like that of a child! 0

If it really was a child, then this kid's talent was astonishing! After all, even in the Ling Family, at fourteen or fifteen years old, one could only reach Foundation Level Ten or eleven or twelve at best, and that was with countless resources! Judging by the power of the sword light, this kid was at least in the early stages of enlightenment! 0

"My name is Ling Mo Xie. I was tricked into coming here! Where is this place? I would appreciate it if you could come out!" Ling Mo Xie didn't underestimate the child due to their age and asked earnestly and kindly. 0

Perhaps sensing that Ling Mo Xie meant no harm, rustling sounds came from behind a tree that several people could barely encircle. A boy holding a longsword stepped out. 0

The boy wore brown linen clothes, but his longsword gleamed with a sharp cold light; it looked incredibly sharp—a fine sword indeed! He stood barefoot and was half a head shorter than Ling Mo Xie. His black hair was tied back with a cloth strip. His features were chiseled like they were carved from stone: slanted eyebrows that met at the temples, narrow eyes, a high nose, thin lips—he exuded an aura as sharp as the sword in his hand! 0

Ling Mo Xie silently praised him—a fine young man—but wondered why he was practicing swordsmanship alone in this forest. 0

The child cautiously examined Ling Mo Xie and, seeing that Ling Mo Xie truly meant no harm, spoke up, "Your surname is Ling? Are you from the Ling family of Tianfeng City?" 0

"Yes! You know the Ling family?" Ling Mo Xie looked at the boy in surprise; it seemed the Ling family was quite well-known! 0

"Of course! They are one of the three Big Families of Tianfeng City! If you say you are a member of the Ling family, how did you end up tricked into coming to this Linyuan Forest?" The boy crossed his arms, holding a sword in one hand, and raised an eyebrow at Ling Mo Xie. 0

"Linyuan Forest?" Ling Mo Xie was taken aback and silently repeated the name; he had no idea where this place was! 0

"Well, in aristocratic families, it's inevitable that some people are restless!" Ling Mo Xie shrugged helplessly. The boy seemed to resonate with something and nodded in agreement, waving at Ling Mo Xie, "I see you don't seem like a bad person. Since you're here, come with me to rest for a bit!" 0

"Rest?" Ling Mo Xie was puzzled. Looking around, they were clearly in the center of a forest; wasn't any place just as good for resting? Why look for a better spot? 0

After walking a few steps with the boy, Ling Mo Xie found himself in a clearing within the forest. In this rare open space stood a bamboo house surrounded by a small courtyard made of a fence. Inside the courtyard was an animal that resembled a small dog, but Ling Mo Xie could sense the fluctuations of spiritual energy within it; it must be a spirit beast! 0

"You live here?" Ling Mo Xie asked in astonishment. What was going on? A legendary recluse? This was too ridiculous! A recluse was just a child? The image of an ethereal hermit in his mind collapsed. 0

"You can call me Nan Jianjun; that's my name!" The boy clearly wasn't very talkative. After saying this to Ling Mo Xie, he spoke little more and went inside to pour him a cup of water. 0

"How old are you?" Ling Mo Xie asked curiously while holding the bamboo cup. 0

"Thirteen!" The boy replied flatly, indicating that he wanted Ling Mo Xie to help himself while he practiced swordsmanship in the fenced courtyard. The small dog-like spirit beast obediently sat nearby watching. 0

Ling Mo Xie pouted in boredom and finished the water in one gulp. Just as he was about to ask Nan Jianjun if he knew the way out, it seemed Nan Jianjun already knew what he was thinking. He pointed to the small dog and commanded, "Go get him a copy of the map I drew!" 0

There are often explorers passing by on their way to Chang Haiyuan, and the young man makes a living by selling maps to earn some silver. 0

The little dog seemed to understand human speech, happily running into the house. Ling Mo Xie smiled gratefully at Nan Jianjun, waiting for the little dog to bring out the map. 0

However, before the little dog could come back, a coughing sound came from inside the house, leaving Ling Mo Xie puzzled. But Nan Jianjun's expression changed drastically; he dropped his sword and rushed into the house! 0

Ling Mo Xie became even more confused. In this world, there are those who practice magic and those who practice swordsmanship; a swordsman's sword is like their life! Nan Jianjun clearly looked like a swordsman, so why would he abandon his sword? Who inside the house was worth such concern? 0

Driven by curiosity, Ling Mo Xie followed him inside and saw a sparsely furnished room with a simple bed against the wall, which was the only bed in the house. 0

On the bed lay a thick blanket, and he could vaguely see an extraordinarily beautiful woman whose face was pale and devoid of color. Nan Jianjun was kneeling beside the bed, tightly holding the woman's bony hand, choking back tears as he said, "Mother! Mother! Are you alright? Don't scare me! If anything happens to you, I will slaughter everyone in the Nan Family to accompany you in death!" 0

Nan Jianjun's voice was cold, filled with endless malice! 0

The little white puppy-like Spirit Beast carried a rolled-up map in its mouth and ran over when it saw its master kneeling by the bed. It seemed that this kind of scene had happened before. 0

"Excuse me, may I ask what happened to your mother?" Ling Mo Xie hesitated at the door and asked, wondering if his Small Red Bottle could be of any use. 0
