I was filled with confusion. After thinking for a while without any results, I decided to stop pondering. I stood up, carefully folded the book and the page, and placed them in my backpack. No matter what those words meant, since they mentioned the basement, I had to go take a look. Perhaps I could discover some clues there. 0

I took a deep breath, adjusted my breathing, then picked up my backpack and walked outside. What did that ritual truly signify? I murmured to myself, recalling the contents of the book once more. How did the people of the Wangmu Tribe perceive this world without using their eyes? Why were blind children subjected to having their eyes removed? Why did this person from the Wangmu Tribe invent this ritual? What was its purpose? 0

If that child had volunteered, then he should have known something… My brow furrowed tightly as my unease grew stronger. Looking around, everything remained a blinding white; I could see nothing. What secrets were hidden in this damned place? I punched the wall, and the pain brought me back to my senses a little. 0

"Calm down, you must stay calm…" I took a deep breath, constantly reminding myself not to panic. "First, I need to check out the basement; maybe I'll find something there…" With my mind made up, I continued down the corridor. It was so dark that I didn't even dare to blink, fearing I'd miss something important. However, after about ten minutes of walking, everything around me was still pitch black. 0

"Am I going in circles?" I felt a bit anxious, and my pace quickened. 0

However, after just a few steps, I heard a strange sound. 0
"Tap tap tap..." 0
The sound was low and hollow, as if it were coming from a great distance. 0
"Who is it?" 0
I immediately became alert and shouted into the air. 0
"Tap tap tap..." 0
The sound rang out again, this time more urgent than before. 0
"Who is it?!" 0
I shouted again, but aside from that strange crying sound, there was nothing else. 0
"Damn it!" 0
I cursed under my breath and quickened my pace to run forward. 0
I lost track of how long I had been running when the sound finally grew weaker, eventually disappearing completely. 0
"Has it vanished?" 0
I stopped and listened carefully to the sounds around me. 0
After listening for a long time, that sound did not reappear. 0
"What’s going on? Did I mishear?" 0
I scratched my head, doubting whether I was imagining things due to being too tense. 0
"Tap tap tap..." 0
Just then, it sounded again! 0
And this time, the noise was clearer than before! 0
"Who is it?!" 0
I immediately turned my head to look in the direction of the sound. 0
But everything around me was pitch black; I couldn't see anything at all. 0

"Tap tap tap..." 0
The crying continued, growing more urgent. 0
"Damn it, who the hell is it?!" 0
I was getting irritated by the inexplicable sound of crying and shouted into the air. 0
"Tap tap tap..." 0
Despair was creeping in. 0
"Damn it, I want to see who's playing tricks!" 0
The sound persisted, and it felt like it was getting closer. 0
"Damn it, I want to see who's playing tricks!" 0
I gritted my teeth and mustered my courage, slowly walking toward the source of the sound. 0
"Tap tap tap..." 0
It grew louder; I was sure it was a strange set of footsteps. 0
"Tap, tap, tap..." 0
The footsteps fluctuated in distance, creating an increasingly eerie atmosphere. 0
"Who is it?!" 0
