“Second Sister, don’t call me ‘Three.’” Kate protested with a dark expression.
“You're ranked third, what should I call you if not Three?” Freya tossed her long hair, exuding a charming allure that captivated many men in the hall. However, when they recalled her impressive achievements, the men who wanted to approach retreated. Damn, this woman had led a fleet to slaughter enemies on an entire planet; even flowers from her would be poisonous and thorny.
“Call me by my name, or Third Brother is fine too.” Kate declared, but unfortunately, Freya completely ignored him and turned to Lidi instead. “Lidi, your dress is beautiful! Where did you buy it?”
“It was given to me by Sister Bai!” Lidi happily pushed Bai Tang in front of Freya for an introduction.
Freya reacted similarly to Lidi, immediately thanking Bai Tang and then pulling her aside to inquire about the dress's origins. Upon hearing that Bai Tang could no longer visit the planet where she “made clothes,” Freya expressed her regret.
Kent smiled slightly: “Freya, you’re too early to be disappointed. Bai Tang might have a second piece for you, and perhaps even a third or fourth.”
Freya immediately looked at Bai Tang with eager eyes.
Bai Tang felt uneasy under her intense gaze and quickly surrendered: “I do have more, but they’re at home.”
Freya instantly said, “I’ll go to your house tomorrow. How about one outfit for one hundred thousand Alliance coins?”
“No need, I’ll give you one.” Bai Tang waved her hand.
As they spoke, several girls who were close to Lidi gathered around, all asking which designer made her dress.
Kent rubbed his chin, his eyes sparkling with interest. Women’s money is easy to make!
“Bai Tang, are you interested in collaborating with me on a clothing business?”
Kent’s business acumen impressed Bai Tang. How did she not think of making money with ancient-style clothing? She readily agreed to Kent’s proposal, and the two began discussing as if they were establishing a clothing company, coming up with a preliminary cooperation plan that satisfied both.
“Cheers to our collaboration!” Kent raised his glass.
Bai Tang: “Wishing for prosperous business.”
“That's for sure. Look at those women!” Kent pointed his chin toward the crowd surrounding his sister and let Bai Tang see those who were filled with envy but hesitant to approach since they weren’t familiar with Lidi. They waited for others who knew Lidi to clarify before approaching them.
Bai Tang and Kent stood aside on the stairs, while the two sisters, Lidi and another girl, were blocked at the stairway by a group of women. Their conversation clearly reached the ears of the three.
“...Lidi, the flower on your forehead is so beautiful!” one girl said enviously.
Lidi's proud voice came through, “Isn't it pretty? I never thought about putting makeup on my forehead before. This kind of makeup is what women from Ancient Earth used to wear, called 'Hua Huang.' Back then, women would use yellow powder to paint or cut golden paper into shapes like stars, moons, flowers, and birds to stick on their foreheads, or they would apply a bit of yellow paint, which is how it got its name. Look at this peach blossom on my forehead; isn't it lovely? This is the Peach Blossom Makeup, said to have been invented by a famous woman from ancient Huaxia over six thousand years ago.”
“A famous woman from Huaxia? Was it Wu Zetian?” Some history from Ancient Earth still lingered.
“It wasn't Wu Zetian, but she was closely related to her; it was her close female official, Shangguan Wan'er, who invented it. Wu Zetian trusted and was very close to Shangguan Wan'er; she didn't even avoid her when flirting with her male favorites. Wu Zetian's male favorite, Zhang Changzong, was in his prime; although he accompanied an older woman for power and status, he still preferred young and beautiful girls in his heart. Shangguan Wan'er, being in the harem, knew that men were fickle. So when Zhang Changzong flirted with her, they got involved. Of course, nothing substantial happened; they only exchanged glances or gestures when Wu Zetian wasn't paying attention. But who was Wu Zetian? The first female emperor in history—who could act under her nose? The two were caught red-handed; the anger of the empress was fierce. She threw a golden hairpin that struck Shangguan Wan'er's forehead, leaving her disfigured and imprisoned. In ancient times, criminals would have characters tattooed on their faces to indicate their criminal status. Shangguan Wan'er was clever; she bribed the officer who was supposed to tattoo her face not to mark her but instead to tattoo a plum blossom over her injury…”
“Without Shangguan Wan'er serving her side, Wu Zetian felt uncomfortable doing anything and remembered how good Shangguan Wan'er was. She released her from prison and brought her back to her side. With a tattoo on her forehead revealing her past as a prisoner, how could Shangguan Wan'er allow others to look down on her? So she adorned the plum blossom with rouge on her forehead to enhance her beauty. The palace maids all thought it was beautiful; some secretly imitated it by dotting red rouge on their foreheads, gradually leading to the emergence of this 'Red Plum Makeup' in the palace.”
“Wow, Lidi, you are amazing! You know such ancient traditions so well!” the girls exclaimed in admiration.
“Hehe, just a bit,” Lidi's eyes flickered as she refrained from mentioning that this knowledge came from Bai Tang.
“Kent knows our sister's history credits are very low; she doesn't even know who Wu Zetian is,” Kent remarked.
Bai Tang smiled.
“Sister Bai Tang?” A strange voice interrupted among the three.
Bai Tang looked up to see a handsome man walking towards her.
“Can I talk to you for a moment?”
“I don't know you!” Bai Tang coolly rejected him without understanding his intentions or background.
The man did not retreat due to the rejection: “Sister Bai Tang, you've been encountering some trouble lately, haven't you?”
Bai Tang's gaze turned cold as she shot him a piercing look.
The man shivered slightly under Bai Tang's gaze and realized that this girl was indeed highly skilled. He felt fortunate that he had chosen to befriend Bai Tang.
"I mean no harm." The man said sincerely, "I think we have a common enemy!"
Bai Tang put down his glass. "What do you want?"
The man glanced at the Sean Family brothers. "It's not convenient to talk here."
Bai Tang asked Kate, "Can I borrow an empty room?"
Kate also set down her glass. "Follow me!"
She led Bai Tang and the man to a room on the second floor. Before leaving, Kate told Bai Tang, "If anything happens, contact me, and I'll come right away." She then shot a warning glance at the man.
"Thank you!" Bai Tang closed the door and turned to the man. "So, what is your relationship with Harry Welsh?"
The man sighed. "I really don't want to be associated with him, but unfortunately, completely severing ties with him is complicated. Let me introduce myself; my name is Senwen Welsh."
"You are that arrogant and foolish Second Brother of the Welsh family?"
