"In the Natural Space where we exist, the most intelligent and advanced being is humanity; the most constantly flowing and fastest entity is time; and the greatest and most enduring achievement is the golden elixir attained through cultivation. Unfortunately, people often become immersed in the competition for fame and wealth, entangled in emotional ties of kinship and grudges, greedily pursuing their desires like a wolf spotting prey. When will this self-destructive behavior, akin to a moth flying into a flame, come to an end? One day, when death approaches, it will be too late for regrets. All that remains is to accept the whims of fate and await the decree of death. Who understands that there are ways to achieve immortality in this world? Who contemplates the mysteries of the golden elixir Elixir?"
Yang Xiao noticed that Bai Tang was about to continue speaking endlessly and quickly interrupted to change the subject.
"Wasn't the Dragon-Slaying Saber taken by the Eagle Cult? Why are we not going to seize it back from them but instead heading to Wudang Mountain?"
"Even if the Eagle Cult has obtained the Dragon-Slaying Saber, they won't be able to keep it. We are going to Wudang Mountain to rescue someone."
Yang Xiao asked in confusion, "Rescue someone! Who?"
Bai Tang responded mysteriously, "The Buddha says, 'No!'"
Wudang Mountain is a famous Taoist mountain and the birthplace of Wudang Martial Arts, known as "the unparalleled sacred land since ancient times, home to the first immortal mountain." The name "Wudang" first appeared in the "Han Shu." From the late Han dynasty through the Wei, Jin, Sui, and Tang periods, it was a refuge for those seeking immortality. By the Song dynasty, Taoist scriptures began associating the deity Zhenwu with Wudang Mountain, claiming it as his birthplace and ascension site. The mountain features seventy-two peaks, thirty-six cliffs, twenty-four ravines, eleven caves, three pools, nine springs, ten ponds, nine wells, ten stones, and nine platforms among its scenic spots. After resolving matters, Bai Tang planned to explore Wudang Mountain, take some photos to show Bai Dad, and hoped for a chance to take a picture with Zhang Sanfeng, making Bai Dad envious.
Wudang Mountain is located within hb territory along with Xiangyang. On their way, Bai Tang took Yang Xiao to Dugu Sword Valley. Captivated by the sword intent left by Dugu Qiubai, Yang Xiao decided to stay in the valley to study it and would not accompany Bai Tang to Wudang Mountain. Bai Tang shrugged; if he didn't want to go, then so be it. She had initially wanted to help forge a friendship between Yang Xiao and Yin Liting.
As Bai Tang reached the foot of Wudang Mountain, she saw a group of people coming down from the mountain. They had horses and carriages with a flag reading "Dragon Gate Escort Agency." It seemed that people from Vajra Gate had already taken away Yu Daiyan. With sympathy in her eyes, Bai Tang glanced at them; these individuals could be considered some of the most innocent and pitiful cannon fodder—just one mistake or being deceived led them to such a tragic fate. As for Yin Susu, while she appreciated her personality, she couldn't like her because of her disregard for human life and her tendency toward indiscriminate killing. Look at how well-received Ren Da Jie, another demonic sect woman, was; she gained favor from the male protagonist and acceptance from two major righteous sect leaders because she was regarded as a "Saintess" by many heroes of the martial world. Perhaps she should learn from her.
Rescuing someone! Bai Tang quickened her pace towards Shiyan Town. Just as she approached it, she noticed a large cart lying askew in the tall grass by the roadside. Upon getting closer, she saw that the mule pulling it had its skull crushed and brains splattered on the ground. Standing next to the cart were six people: two Taoist priests wearing yellow caps and four dressed in common attire. All six were armed with swords and blades, exuding vigor and energy. Among them was a tall man with a large black mole on his left cheek from which three long hairs protruded. They had finished their business and were about to leave. Not allowing them to escape, Bai Tang said to Karen Adrian, "Leave one alive!"
Ignoring the brief cries behind her—Karen Adrian acted too swiftly; before they could scream more than once, they were all dealt with by him. Moving into the grass behind the cart, they found someone lying motionless among the tall grass as if dead for quite some time. Turning him over gently revealed that it was none other than Yu Daiyan, whom she had met once before.
As she carefully propped him up, she noticed his hands and feet hanging limply; all his joints had been broken. Blood oozed from his fingers, wrists, arms, and legs—clearly indicating that his enemies had not long ago inflicted these injuries one by one with brutal intent.
Suddenly, a sound of hoofbeats approached rapidly. Looking up, Bai Tang saw an Azure Steed galloping towards them at breakneck speed. The rider was a young man around twenty-one or twenty-two years old with handsome features; though slightly gaunt, he radiated vitality that overshadowed his slender frame.
The young man's gaze fell upon Yu Daiyan. Seeing his tragic condition ignited his fury; he shouted angrily: "Scoundrels! Let go of my Third Brother!." He leaped off his horse and struck downwards with both palms.
With a casual wave of her left hand as if swatting a fly, Bai Tang sent Zhang Wuxia flying aside.
"Look closely; those who harmed your Third Brother are over there. We just saved your senior brother—are you planning to repay kindness with malice?" She shot a sidelong glance at Zhang Cui Shan, wearing an expression that suggested he was causing trouble.
Caught off guard for a moment, Zhang Cui Shan turned his gaze towards where Karen Adrian stood only to see several lifeless men on the ground who bore an uncanny resemblance to what Du Dajin had described.
"Thank you for saving my Third Brother." Realizing he had wrongfully accused good people, Zhang Wuxia immediately apologized. He got up from the ground and rushed over two steps towards Bai Tang, looking at her holding onto Yu Daiyan.
"How is my Third Brother?"
"See for yourself," Bai Tang said calmly.
Zhang Cui Shan was both shocked and pained as he reached over to press his cheek against Yu Daiyan's face, feeling a slight warmth. Zhang Cui Shan was overjoyed, reaching to feel his brother's chest and noticing that his heart was still beating slowly, though it was erratic and could stop at any moment. Tears streamed down Zhang Cui Shan's face as he said, "Third Brother, you... how could this happen... I am your Fifth Brother... Fifth Brother!"
Unfortunately, Yu Daiyan could not respond.
Zhang Cui Shan choked back tears and said to Bai Tang, "Thank you for stopping the villains; otherwise, my Third Brother would be dead. But his life is hanging by a thread right now, and I must take him back to Wudang Mountain to save him. We must part ways here!"
With that, he took Yu Daiyan from Bai Tang's arms.
"Wait a moment," Bai Tang extended a hand to stop Zhang Cui Shan. "If you want to save your Third Brother, you need to wait a little longer."
"What do you mean?" Zhang Cui Shan was anxious, but the possibility that Bai Tang could save his Third Brother made him pause.
Bai Tang took out a bottle of Red Medicine, pried open Yu Daiyan's mouth, and poured it in. Then Zhang Cui Shan saw his Third Brother's face gradually regain color, and his breathing became stronger.
Zhang Cui Shan couldn't help but feel immense joy and repeatedly expressed his gratitude.
Bai Tang waved his hand dismissively. "This medicine is effective for internal injuries, but your Third Brother's arms and legs are broken and require specialized healing medicine for broken bones."
At this point, Zhang Cui Shan had come to trust Bai Tang greatly. "What kind of healing medicine? How can I obtain it?"
Bai Tang did not answer directly but pointed at Yu Daiyan's limbs. "Can you tell what kind of martial arts injured your Third Brother?"
Zhang Cui Shan was taken aback by the question. He lowered his head to examine Yu Daiyan's wounds and suddenly looked up. "Vajra Finger! It was the Vajra Finger of Shaolin! Someone from Shaolin injured my Third Brother!"
The enmity between Shaolin and Wudang had existed for a long time, especially since Zhang Sanfeng had been a discarded disciple of Shaolin. Therefore, Zhang Cui Shan had no doubt in attributing the attacker's identity to Shaolin.
Bai Tang said, "It is indeed Vajra Finger, but it wasn't someone from Shaolin who did this. Nearly a hundred years ago, there was a firewood monk in Shaolin who secretly learned martial arts. That monk broke away and went to the Western Regions to establish Vajra Gate. Vajra Gate has a unique secret medicine called Black Jade Bone Mending Ointment that can treat bone injuries. You might find this elixir if you search their bodies."
Zhang Cui Shan dared not delay any longer; he crouched down and began searching the corpses.
Bai Tang walked over to the only living person beside her—his miserable state was worse than death: "As long as you answer my questions honestly, I can give you a quick end. How does that sound?"
"Bah!" The man spat out a mouthful of blood and simply closed his eyes, ignoring Bai Tang.
Bai Tang gently said, "Do you think that if you don't speak, I won't get anything from you?"
Her right hand covered the man's forehead: "Since that's the case, don't blame me for using such brutal methods."
The soul-searching skill activated. Unlike with Yi Qian and other innocent people, this forced soul search was extremely violent, enough to damage the man's brain.
From the man's memories, she learned that he was A Er, who followed Zhao Min in the original story. Both A Er and A San were disciples of Vajra Gate. They had allied with Mongolia's Ru Yang Wang Fu and were sent to the Central Plains to cause destruction and sow discord among the six Main Gate factions by order of the Ru Yang Wang.
It turned out that although Mongolia had been thrown into chaos for a long time due to Huang Rong's series of schemes, they had not given up on their ambitions to move southward against their neighbor, Hawk-Eyed. Ru Yang Wang Fu was one of the most ambitious among them. A few years ago, they recruited Cheng Kun to devise plans targeting the Central Plains Martial Arts World: the Dragon-Slaying Saber was released by him, and those twenty-four characters were also crafted by Cheng Kun. The rebellion within Ming Jiao's lower ranks was also instigated by Cheng Kun... A Er and A San took advantage of the opportunity created by the Central Plains Martial Arts World’s competition for the Dragon-Slaying Saber to sow discord between Shaolin and Wudang, the two most prestigious sects in the Central Plains. Unexpectedly, just after they severely injured Yu Daiyan, they encountered two formidable killers who knew their background.
"I found it! I found it!" Zhang Cui Shan shouted as he rushed over. One hand was still holding Yu Daiyan while the other held an open box containing a black ointment with a fragrant and refreshing aroma.
Bai Tang took the box and sniffed it—it was actually a skill for identifying items from the system.
"Not bad, this is Black Jade Bone Mending Ointment. Its medicinal properties are incredibly miraculous; if a person's limbs or body joints suffer severe injuries leading to disability, applying this ointment can still allow for recovery. If the disability has lasted for a long time and the bone injury has already healed, one must first break the bone again before applying this ointment to restore normal bone function and abilities such as walking."
