After a while, a wild chicken unexpectedly flew past Li Rui, and he was instantly astonished! "There are wild chickens in this place!" He became energized at once; catching one would mean a delicious meal! Li Rui quickly followed, crossing through a thicket and walking over a patch of weeds. At this point, he was already exhausted, but the wild chicken had slipped away from him. It seemed to have darted into a grassy area and vanished without a trace. Li Rui stopped and looked around, realizing that this place seemed somewhat familiar. He turned around and walked forward, pushing aside some weeds, only to discover that this was a graveyard! Wasn't this the place he had visited one night not long ago? Li Rui's heart sank as he felt that this location was not simple. At that moment, he was extremely nervous, fearing that some formidable character might appear; he was alone now, with no support nearby. Thinking about this made Li Rui wonder why he had survived such a great calamity and who had saved him. Never mind that for now; he looked around and saw that it wasn't as terrifying as last time—just an ordinary scene. As he walked, he noticed the gap in the weeds from last time!
Time was running late. Li Rui glanced at the gap ahead, knowing that he still had his purpose for coming here and future tasks to complete. He made up his mind and took out the token for the Dan Hall from his pocket, setting off toward his destination.
With vengeance unfulfilled, Li Rui dared not relax even a little because once he did, what awaited him would be an abyss of despair.
The Scream Sect was an evil organization beyond compare; many in the Multiverse wanted to eradicate it. However, no one had ever known their whereabouts until Li Rui stumbled upon them—an organization with whom he had deep-seated enmity. He had to confront them!
After a long journey, Li Rui finally entered the Scream Sect smoothly. Upon hearing that Li Rui was an alchemist, many people showed expressions of delight. After all, no matter where one was, alchemists were always highly sought-after talents by all factions; having an alchemist meant having resources, and with resources came the foundation for continuously nurturing backup talents.
Assigned to the Dan Hall, which was also Li Rui's original goal, he intended to see if he could stir up some trouble inside. Throughout his observations on the way there, he had already discovered that most tasks within the Scream Sect involved practicing some kind of evil technique. However, it wasn't until he entered the Dan Hall that he realized his judgment might have been slightly off.
Although many people in the Dan Hall had grim expressions and exhibited sickly gray or crimson hues, most still appeared relatively normal—“ordinary people!”
Li Rui thought to himself that after arriving at the Scream Sect, he had become quite paranoid; seeing a few people with normal complexions involuntarily led him to regard them as ordinary folks, as if not practicing any evil arts would somehow be disrespectful to the name "Scream."
"You're new here, aren't you?"
A young man with a somewhat flamboyant appearance noticed Li Rui standing quietly in the hall of the Dan Hall, particularly after his favorite junior sister glanced at him twice. Feeling irritated by it all, he couldn't help but think that Li Rui seemed off.
"Hmm? What's up?"
Hearing someone call out to him pulled Li Rui from his thoughts. Turning around, he saw it was a young man whose years of experience in reading people told him that this person seemed to harbor inexplicable hostility towards him.
The young man deliberately puffed out his chest, and then, looking down from a height, Li Rui spoke to him in a tone befitting a Senior:
"I see you are quite young, yet you have managed to step into the field of Alchemist. How about it, what rank of Alchemist are you?"
Li Rui glanced at the Fourth-Rank Alchemist insignia on the young man's chest. He noticed that the young man had been constantly eyeing the back of a Young Woman deep within the hall while asking about the rank of Alchemist, deliberately raising his voice to make his intentions clear.
Unfortunately, the Young Woman did not turn around in response, and Li Rui's reply only served to infuriate the young man further.
"Me? I'm just lucky to have broken through to Fifth Rank."
Li Rui said this nonchalantly, as if being a Fifth Rank was nothing special. Especially when he saw that the young man was trying to use him as a stepping stone to impress that Young Woman, Li Rui couldn't help but snort coldly in his heart.
"Impossible!"
Unexpectedly, the young man let out an exaggerated scream upon hearing this. "I, Zeng Zerun, have spent decades studying Elixir to achieve my current status. You, at your age, haven't learned anything yet you have mastered the art of showboating? A Fifth-Rank Alchemist, do you think you are Tang Xueqian?"
Who is Tang Xueqian? Li Rui frowned. However, this shout from the young man Zeng Zerun attracted everyone's attention in the hall, and laughter erupted all around.
"Is this kid crazy? He looks only about twenty years old and shamelessly claims to be a Fifth-Rank Alchemist. He must have started practicing Alchemy in the womb."
"Exactly, hahahaha."
Li Rui remained unbothered and did not argue. His calm demeanor actually intimidated some people. An elder who had initially laughed at the young man's arrogance now wondered if perhaps he really was a Fifth-Rank Alchemist.
However, there are not many Fifth-Rank Alchemists in the entire Multiverse, especially young Alchemists like Tang Xueqian, who is already impressive enough. At just sixteen years old, she has reached the Fourth Rank and is about to break through to the Fifth Rank. Could this newcomer be even more talented than Tang Xueqian?
As soon as this thought arose, the old man forcefully suppressed it. How could that be possible! Tang Xueqian's talent had been recognized by her Master, a dignified Eighth-Rank Alchemy Master. Once she breaks through to the Fifth Rank, he would personally take her as his closed-door disciple. He truly could not believe that anyone could surpass her in Alchemy talent.
But the calm demeanor of this young man right now...
The old man gritted his teeth and made up his mind, addressing Li Rui: "Friend, you must not exaggerate too much; otherwise, you will bear the consequences."
Li Rui was still wondering how long they would continue to mock him when he did not expect an old man to speak to him directly. After the old man said this, everyone stopped and quietly looked at him.
He had nothing to feel guilty about, so he smiled slightly and nodded in acknowledgment:
"I may be young and somewhat reckless, but I never speak falsehoods."
