Under the watchful eyes of a group of patrollers, Li Rui gave Bald Captain a severe lesson, returning all the treatment he had received tenfold. At that moment, in front of everyone, Li Rui seemed to be bullying a five-year-old child who had no ability to fight back. The once imposing Captain was now trampled underfoot, which was a tremendous humiliation. He was continuously slapped; if this had happened in the past, it would have been merely a dream, but now it had become a reality, and that person was Li Rui!
Because Bald Captain often bullied others, when Li Rui struck him, the crowd not only did not intervene but instead began to feel pleased. They looked at Li Rui with strange admiration.
Li Rui lowered his foot and saw the bald man lying motionless on the ground, likely having fainted. He then turned to the group and said with an indifferent expression, "With someone like him, you still dare not act?"
Upon hearing this, the crowd looked at him with admiration. They immediately exclaimed, "From now on, you are our Captain!"
Li Rui nodded slightly in agreement; after all, he was new here and being a Captain was quite good—something he actually desired.
The crowd then surrounded Li Rui. "Wow, Captain, you have great skills!"
Soon, they began to flatter him. Faced with such praise, the pale-faced Bald Captain stood there in a daze because he sensed something strange in the atmosphere.
However, Li Rui did not make a fuss about it as that would expose him. Instead, he casually pulled over one of the younger members and asked what strange things had been happening around here.
The young member honestly reported that the statue at the entrance had been quite odd lately but nothing had come of it. After understanding the basic situation, Li Rui instructed several people to take him to see the statue.
The paths here were intricate and complex; only those who lived here knew how to navigate them. Although Li Rui was not very familiar with the area, he pretended to know what he was doing and soon arrived at the entrance.
Finally, he discovered it was a fierce-looking lion statue with bared teeth and claws. Li Rui turned to the crowd and said, "Thank you all for your hard work today; you can go back and rest."
Everyone was delighted. They had never gotten off so early before; this Captain was truly great! This also increased Li Rui's prestige—he was not only kind but also skilled. Following Li Rui promised a bright future ahead.
When everyone disappeared from sight, Li Rui waved his hand, and the Qilin Beast appeared before him, looking quite fierce. If an ordinary person were to see this, they would probably think they were mistaken; Li Rui was actually conversing with a Qilin Beast.
"What’s wrong?" The Qilin Beast looked confused as it stared at the fierce stone statue in front of them, while Li Rui seemed to have figured something out and looked at the Qilin Beast.
"Didn’t you notice anything strange here?" Li Rui observed thoughtfully, and the Qilin Beast seemed to understand something as it focused on the stone statue. Then, seeing this, Li Rui snapped his fingers.
"You go investigate what’s odd about that statue. I have a feeling something is off; there’s even a strange airflow around." Li Rui said, and the Qilin Beast listened attentively.
At that moment, Li Rui received an order from his superior. A person dressed differently from everyone else handed him a document. Li Rui found it strange and thought this person must not be ordinary; perhaps their rank was even higher than his. He began reading and saw that the Red-Headed Document only had two large red characters: "Catch Thief." Li Rui continued reading and couldn’t help but smile.
The document requested the retrieval of three lost Ammunitions. Little did they know that these three Ammunitions were stolen by him. Li Rui felt helpless; asking a thief to catch another thief was quite amusing. He thought about secretly laughing under his covers for a long time, but he was still cautious and didn’t act foolishly.
The next morning, warm sunlight streamed into the room. Taking a deep breath of fresh air made the world feel beautiful. Li Rui prepared to assemble his team early in the morning. His teammates were all geared up, eager and spirited. As the second-in-command of Captain, Li Rui cleared his throat.
"Recently, three Ammunitions have gone missing without explanation. The next task is to search the city for the thief who stole them; we must find them!"
"Do we have confidence?" Li Rui shouted loudly, but inside he felt exhilarated; being Captain was truly enjoyable. It was amusing to see a group of Luo Luo responding to his orders.
Everyone answered in unison, their roaring voices showcasing the team's momentum. With Li Rui’s capabilities, they naturally weren’t afraid of anything. Soon after, Li Rui waved his hand and led the team through the city.
The city wasn’t very large, but despite its small size, it had everything one could need. The ground made a crunching sound underfoot as leaves swayed in the wind, creating a pleasant environment. While Li Rui enjoyed the scenery here, the others were anxious to find the lost Ammunitions since everyone would share responsibility if they weren’t recovered.
Other teams aggressively broke down doors and rushed in to search regardless of whether anyone was inside, nearly digging three feet into the ground. Li Rui initially wanted to stop them but refrained because it would expose him. Instead, he instructed his brothers to casually check around and put on a show; that would suffice.
Li Rui thought to himself that it wouldn't be found out, and he couldn't help but smile at this thought.
The distant noise was somewhat jarring, and he saw a vehicle approaching from afar. Li Rui judged that it must belong to another team, while a passerby walking by looked a bit frightened at the scene. What scared him even more was that the five burly men who got out of the vehicle seemed as fierce as if they had been injected with adrenaline. Soon after, an innocent passerby was taken away.
"What are you doing?" the passerby asked in a trembling voice.
"What are you afraid of?" one of the men who got out of the car asked with a suspicious expression, which only made the passerby more terrified.
"Anyone who is suspected will be taken back for questioning; not a single one should be let go," commanded the Captain, and the soldiers began to search even more frantically.
The other teams were clearly getting agitated, and Li Rui noticed this. He saw that anyone deemed suspicious was being taken away without any distinction. This left Li Rui feeling helpless yet amused...
