“Mosu, hurry up!” The crowd on the deck had already dispersed significantly; who would have thought there would be a gunfight here? Cheng Mosu was unwilling to leave, supporting her Father, watching as the Assassin across from them turned pale and collapsed. 0

Cheng Yi's slightly furrowed brows finally relaxed a bit, but he too fell straight down. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't support him. On the vast deck, only the three of them remained. Tears streamed down her Water-colored Eyes, falling onto the back of her fair hand, burning hot. 0

“Dad, hold on. I'm taking you to the hospital now.” She exerted all her strength to support Father, but saw Cheng Yi's lips growing increasingly pale. Panic surged within her; it had always been Father protecting her since she was little, and now that he was in this state, she felt helpless and could only pray silently. 0

Cheng Yi opened his weak eyes. He knew he was nearing the end and understood that his daughter would be left alone. The corners of his lips twitched more violently. What did it matter if he died? As long as Mosu was alive, then his life was worth trading for that Assassin's. He trembled his lips and spoke in a faint voice, “Mosu, you... you can't lift Dad anymore; you don't need to worry about me…” 0

“How can I not worry about you? Dad, I'm taking you to the hospital right now; you'll be fine.” With all her might, she helped Cheng Yi up. The bright moon above cast its pure light down upon Cheng Yi's wound, where blood flowed continuously—a sight both shocking and heart-wrenching. She wiped away her tears, her fair cheeks stained with a hint of red from the blood. 0

A gust of wind rushed by her ear as several officers surrounded them. 0

The leading Sheriff looked at her in surprise. “Are you Miss Cheng?” According to reports, Cheng Mosu had already perished in that massive explosion; her appearance now could only be described as ghostly. The surrounding officers recognized the Cheng family duo and instinctively took a few steps back upon witnessing such a scene. 0

She didn't have time to answer their questions; her hair tangled around her waist as her Water Eyes shimmered with sorrow. “Can you please save my dad? Help me get him to the hospital!” 0

“No problem.” The Sheriff hurried over to help lift Cheng Yi, saying, “Get in the police car quickly; saving lives is the priority.” A few junior officers examined the other man lying on the ground and reported, “Report, sir, this man is already dead; that bullet just now hit his heart.” 0

“Alright, secure the scene and wait for my return to investigate!” 0

“Yes!” 0

Cheng Mosu hurriedly followed the Sheriff's lead into the police car. The neon lights along the way emitted vibrant colors but could not penetrate into her heart. Her Water-colored Eyes fixed on her unconscious Father as she sobbed into her hands. Father had been shot by that Assassin while trying to save her. Who sent that Assassin? What kind of grudge did they have against her? These questions flashed through her mind but there was no time for deep contemplation. 0

“Miss Cheng, it’s almost time, please don’t cry just yet, wait a little longer,” the Sheriff comforted her. Cheng Mosu had always been kind to them back in Shanghai; she never made things difficult for them and never showed them a cold face. Therefore, they naturally had a good impression of Cheng Mosu. In this life-and-death moment, they had to urgently save someone. 0

Cheng Mosu nodded as she watched the Sheriff stop the car and carry Cheng Yi straight into the hospital. She hurried to keep up with him, taking off her high heels and holding them in her hand. Leaning against the wall, she saw her father being pushed into the Operating Room and then slowly slid down to sit on the floor, hugging her knees. 0

The Sheriff felt reluctant to see her crying like this, tears streaming down her face like pear blossoms. He sat down beside her and said, “Miss Cheng, try not to be too upset. The doctors are working hard to save him; I believe Mr. Cheng will be fine.” Although he had many questions about Cheng Mosu in his heart, seeing her like this left him unsure of how to ask. 0

Cheng Mosu nodded; she was truly anxious, which was why she cried in front of others. Thinking of this, she wiped away her tears, put on her high heels again, and straightened her disheveled clothes. Still feeling it was inappropriate, she smiled apologetically and said, “Sheriff, please wait for me; I need to freshen up.” 0

The Sheriff nodded in response. She gave a faint smile, stood up, and went into the restroom. Looking at her pale reflection in the mirror, she thought about what would happen if her father really died… She couldn’t bear to think about it; she didn’t want to lose anything else. Turning on the faucet, she let the cool water wash over her fair cheeks, cleansing away the blood that had stained her earlier. 0

She gently arranged her dark hair and lightly touched her red lips before placing a jade-white hairpin in the center of her black hair. Encouraging herself with a faint smile in the mirror, she returned to the door of the Operating Room. 0

The Sheriff stared blankly at Cheng Mosu as she walked toward him, momentarily entranced. Beneath her slightly reddened eyes, her water-colored eyes remained clear and bright. The panic from earlier had faded away from her demeanor; yet a hint of sadness made others instinctively want to protect her. He cleared his throat softly to regain his composure before saying, “Miss Cheng, you…” 0

“Sheriff, how is my father?” Ignoring his subtle change in expression, she asked anxiously. 0

“The doctor is still performing surgery; I believe Mr. Cheng will be alright,” the Sheriff quickly replied. She gave a faint smile but remained silent; although she appeared calm on the surface, inside she was restless. 0

Seeing that she wasn’t speaking anymore, the Sheriff had no choice but to ask, “Miss Cheng, what happened today?” 0

“I’m not quite sure either. My father and I were supposed to go to America; who knew that as soon as we boarded the ship we would run into that man? Fortunately, my father was quick-witted and pushed me aside at the moment the assassin struck and shot at that person. But my father got hit by that man’s bullet too…” Her voice grew softer until it choked in her throat. The Sheriff didn’t know how to comfort her either; there was nothing left to say between them as they silently waited for news from the surgery. 0

The spring air held no chill at all, but her heart felt extremely cold. Her water-colored eyes gazed out at the stars outside the window as memories flooded back. If only she had listened to her father back then and stayed in America, he wouldn’t have been so severely injured now. But what people fear most in this world are “if onlys,” and what they regret most are “had I known.” 0

The door to the Operating Room was gently pushed open, and the Doctor in a green gown removed her snow-white mask, her gaze assessing Cheng Mosu. She didn't know what was happening; her heart was racing, and she felt an oppressive atmosphere closing in on her, causing her to instinctively take a few steps back. 0

"Miss Cheng, I'm sorry. We did our best, but Mr. Cheng has lost too much blood. Coupled with his long-term stress damaging his health, he cannot be saved." 0

She stared blankly at the Doctor's lips moving, the sound slowly fading away. She could only feel something buzzing in her Sun point, making her anxious and disoriented, leading her to slowly and carelessly collapse onto the cold floor. 0
