He picked her up and placed her gently on the soft bed. She nestled into his embrace, closing her Water-colored Eyes, while his soft laughter filled her ears. The thin cocoon brushed against her skin, weaving through her hair, as his hot and intense kiss slowly imprinted itself on her Rose-Colored Lips.
She felt a strong tremor throughout her body and pulled away slightly. He smiled faintly, grasped her delicate wrist, and pulled her back tightly into his arms. Her slender body felt exceptionally soft, as if it had no bones, leaning against his Shoulder.
He gently cradled her neck, showering kisses on her soft, cool skin. Her fair cheeks flushed deeply, and she felt a strong flutter in her heart.
His kisses became more fervent as his large hand loosened her collar. The subtle caress made her shiver.
He teased her delicate earlobe, kissing her exquisite collarbone. The blush on her face deepened as she reached out to push him away gently, saying softly, "Shaoyi, I've been busy all day; I'm tired. Let's rest."
"Oh? I'm resting right now," he replied with an increasingly evident smile, wrapping his arms around her slender waist. She bit her Rose-Colored Lips, and her Water-colored Eyes misted over.
He smiled lightly, his voice dripping with affection. "You..."
His kisses marked every corner of her body with just the right amount of pressure that sent tingles through her. He chuckled softly, his Jet-Black Eyes darker than the night outside.
She was pressed against the soft bed, the sheets embroidered with patterns of mandarin ducks playing in water. Her consciousness began to blur; she could only feel his breath beside her growing longer and the coolness of her skin turning warm.
His breath wandered across every part of her body; the bed curtains swayed gently in the room filled with intimacy. He leaned close to her ear, his cold voice carrying an indescribable tenderness: "Though the ends of the earth may be finite, longing knows no bounds."
This statement jolted her back to awareness; she gazed softly at him with her Water-colored Eyes as he smiled gently, as if wanting to blend her into his very being. Her fragile body endured his passionate advances but ultimately faded into a haze of consciousness and drifted off into a deep sleep.
When she awoke again, there was indeed no one beside her.
She sighed and got up to freshen up. The reflection in the mirror caught her off guard.
Her fair Countenance was now adorned with a layer of vibrant blush, different from the sickly pallor of before; she was a changed person now. She glanced at the bedside where a photo of them together was placed. In the picture, Shaoyi's features were distinct and sharp; his pitch-black eyes held a chilling intensity, while his smile was both arrogant and uniquely tender towards her.
They had been so innocent and pure back then; it seemed that walking alongside him could lead to dreams and high towers. But now time was merciless, flowing like water and taking away their youth. What had once been hatred had been released; what had once been love still lingered. The fallen flowers stood alone while the gentle rain saw swallows flying in pairs. The bright moon from that time still shone down upon them as it welcomed colorful clouds home.
Ling Heng knocked on her door; she quickly responded and turned to open it. Seeing Ling Heng holding a Matryoshka doll, she smiled and asked, "Mom, do you know what this is?"
"This is..." She pretended not to know, and sure enough, Ling Heng proudly said, "Mom, you don't know, this is what Anna gave me. Let me tell you, it's called Matryoshka. Look..." Ling Heng seriously demonstrated how to play with the Matryoshka, laughing as he played. She watched Ling Heng; although the child was occasionally a bit mature for his age, he still had a child's heart.
"By the way, Ling Heng, do you know when your dad will be back?"
"Oh, Dad? Isn't he off to battle? I guess it will be a long time before he comes back." Ling Heng answered casually, still playing with the Matryoshka. He had enough admiration and trust in his father, so he naturally didn't worry about his father's safety.
But Cheng Mosu was different. Hearing that Shaoyi had gone to the battlefield, she knew it was only a matter of time, but she couldn't help but feel anxious.
Ling Heng tugged at her sleeve and said with a smile, "Mom, hurry and change your clothes. Anna invited me to her house for lunch today."
Cheng Mosu quickly came back to her senses, smiled lightly, closed the door to get ready.
She lightly tied her dark hair with a light-colored ribbon. She wore a purple European-style long dress that swayed on the ground and adorned herself with a pair of long fringe earrings custom-made in Paris. Her delicate feet slipped into white diamond-studded high heels.
"Wow, Mom, you look so beautiful!" Ling Heng exclaimed. She smiled shyly and took Ling Heng's small hand as they headed to the Skoson household.
Since they were in the Army service area, the two families lived close together; it was just a short walk away. However, out of respect, she still made an effort to dress up, which was quite different from Mrs. Skoson's usual appearance.
The relationship between Skoson and Shangguan Shaoyi wasn't very harmonious, but Cheng Mosu found that she could have a conversation with Skoson.
Skoson was very fond of Chinese culinary culture but had always struggled to find someone to teach her. Now that she had found a ready-made teacher, she naturally wanted to learn well. Looking at Cheng Mosu, she smiled and said, "Mrs. Shangguan, Chinese people love dumplings; could you teach me how to make them?"
Cheng Mosu was slightly taken aback; she rarely ate wheat-based foods and truly didn't know how to make dumplings.
Seeing her hesitation, Mrs. Skoson lowered her request and said with a smile, "Then whatever Mrs. Shangguan knows how to make, just teach me that."
"I can make beef brisket porridge," she blurted out without thinking.
"Oh?" Mrs. Skoson noticed the slight sparkle in her eyes and understood immediately. She teased, "The porridge that Mrs. Shangguan can make must be something that Shangguan Shaoying likes to eat."
She blushed and nodded. Mrs. Skoson then took her hand and encouraged her to start teaching.
Days passed like this, occasionally news would come from the front lines, and sometimes a light rain would fall. The weather changed rapidly, and the children grew up every day. The only constant was her concern and longing for someone far away. Just thinking about that person, who shared a soul connection with her under the same sky, made her lips curl into a faint smile.
During this time, she often visited Mrs. Skoson's home, and as they spent more time together, they became familiar with each other.
Mrs. Skoson was easy to talk to; perhaps it was because living in the barracks was too boring, so she had a lot to say.
As they got to know each other better, many topics naturally came up in conversation.
“How did you meet Shangguan Shaoying?” Mrs. Skoson asked with a smile.
She paused for a moment, her memories drifting back to that year when Rose-Colored Lips were blooming with two shallow smiles. Feeling idle and troubled by those old memories stuck in her heart, she began to share her story with Mrs. Skoson.
She recounted how they met, how they got to know each other, how they stayed together, and how they separated, reunited, and looked back on their past.
Mrs. Skoson listened intently, her heart tightening with their story, and by the end, she couldn't help but shed tears.
She felt that Cheng Mosu and Shangguan Shaoyi loved each other deeply. Looking at Cheng Mosu's serene expression, she sighed and held Cheng Mosu's hand gently, saying, “God will bless you both.”
“Thank you.” She smiled lightly but then seemed to remember something and asked, “Have there been any recent military updates?”
“There shouldn't be any. Don't worry; our alliance is fighting a just war against invasion. God will bless us,” Mrs. Skoson said firmly, though tears glistened in the corners of her eyes.
Cheng Mosu fell silent and silently prayed in her heart.
Mrs. Skoson was quite interesting; although she didn’t ask questions, she was bored enough to start talking about her romance with Mr. Skoson.
“At that time, he was studying at the military academy in Germany while I happened to be studying abroad in Germany as well. One day, I passed by their school and saw a tall, slender blond man; that was him. I don't know if it was because he had been in Germany for too long, but he looked quite German. I looked at him, and he looked at me; that was our first meeting.”
Cheng Mosu became interested and asked, "And then?"
"Then, I thought I would never see him again. Later, I unexpectedly ran into him at a small restaurant. At that time, he no longer hesitated and came over to strike up a conversation with me. We naturally ended up together," Mrs. Skoson said with a sweet smile. "Our relationship isn't as passionate as yours with Shangguan Shaoying, but it's quite calm, yet sometimes feels sweet and intense."
She moved her Rose-Colored Lips to speak, but saw Ling Heng and Anna running in from outside, followed by a Signal Soldier. She looked up, her heart pounding.
Hearing the series of urgent voices outside, she quickly asked, "Is something happening out there?"
"Oh, not really," Mrs. Skoson replied with a smile when she noticed her confusion. "You could say something is happening; there’s military news coming back. If you stay here a little longer, you'll find out. Let's go listen."
Her heart stirred as the ticking of the clock echoed in her ears, causing occasional pain in her Sun acupoint.
She picked up the hem of her skirt and stepped forward, her Water-colored Eyes unable to hide her anxious feelings as she looked towards the cold machine, watching the communication officer pick up the white paper that determined their fate.
The communication officer took a deep breath and spoke in somewhat clumsy Chinese, "Our team is launching a major counterattack on the Southeast Asia Battlefield. The troops led by Shangguan Shaoying have charged down like fierce tigers and occupied the river valley."
After reading this line, the communication officer couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief and looked at Cheng Mosu and Mrs. Skoson, saying, "It seems this battle has started off successfully; you two ladies need not worry."
Cheng Mosu slowly exhaled and looked up at the sky, her Water-colored Eyes rippling with waves of emotion.
