The King's Artifact began to resonate and slowly flew over, circling around Ren Pingsheng. It seemed that Ren Pingsheng's strength had earned its recognition, unlike other King's Artifacts that flew towards the Light Gate.
"So your name is Changping Sword. Perhaps Changping Wang lived in a chaotic era, which is why you have such a title and this name. Changping means prosperity and peace. Truly admirable!" Ren Pingsheng gently stroked the King's Artifact, murmuring to himself.
The Changping Sword trembled lightly, seemingly pleased that Ren Pingsheng understood its significance.
This sword was three feet and three inches long, straight and smooth, with a mirror-like surface in a light blue hue. The blade was sharp, giving off an impression of being able to cut through hair. From the hilt to the guard, it resembled a spirit snake with its mouth wide open. The hilt was engraved with diamond-shaped patterns like scales, comfortable and powerful to grip, exuding a sense of grandeur fit for conquering the world.
Ren Pingsheng was the first to gain recognition from a King's Artifact, while others were still engaged in their own battles. Many warriors lacked the strength or lost their lives and were forced to retreat due to severe injuries. Now, only ten King's Artifacts remained in the entire Sword King Tomb, as the others had already flown into the Light Gate, disappearing into unknown destinations.
"Demon Emperor, can I obtain other King's Artifacts?" Ren Pingsheng looked at the remaining ten artifacts, noticing that one person could no longer hold on and would likely be defeated by a King's Artifact soon. A different thought crossed his mind.
"Don't think about it. Once you gain recognition from one King's Artifact, all others will automatically distance themselves. Unless it's a self-forged King's Artifact, or you are strong enough to forcibly seize one," the Demon Emperor replied in a calm tone.
"I see, what a pity." He looked helplessly at one of the King's Artifacts as it flew into the Light Gate and vanished. Now only members of the Five Major Forces were blocking six of the King's Artifacts, with Situ Kong stopping one and an unfamiliar warrior blocking another. The rest had failed.
"You damn brat, hurry up and hand over the Heritage!" Suddenly, one or two figures rushed over from a distance, stopping not far from Ren Pingsheng, shouting fiercely. These two were none other than Madelong and the Heavenly Evil Sect Young Master, though one of their companions who had left earlier was missing for some reason.
However, their attention quickly shifted to the seven people battling with the King's Artifacts. Their eyes were filled with greed as they recognized the extraordinary nature of these weapons.
"Damn it, it's all your fault, you little bastard! How could I miss such an opportunity?" Madelong turned around with a fierce glare at Ren Pingsheng. He had been hunted for half a day without obtaining any Heritage, missing out on such a great chance. With his experience, he had already guessed the origins of these weapons and felt an intense desire to tear Ren Pingsheng apart.
The expression on the face of the Heavenly Evil Sect Young Master was no better; he had fought desperately but found no trace of the Heritage. It felt like being toyed with like a monkey for half a day while missing out on this tremendous opportunity. He also harbored deep hatred for Ren Pingsheng.
"Heritage? I wanted to ask you for your Heritage! It's just too bad you ran away too quickly for me to catch you. I didn't expect you to dare come back!" said Ren Pingsheng, maintaining his composure.
"You brat, don't play dumb! All I got was a martial technique; that's definitely not the Heritage. The real Heritage must be in your hands! You didn't chase after me back then because you discovered where the true Heritage was!" he shouted angrily with bloodshot eyes.
"Heh, you make it sound so convincing. Just because you say I have the Heritage, that means I do? You're quite something! However, those guys currently battling over there really do have the Heritage. You might want to consider them," he said with a light chuckle, pointing at the group of over ten people engaged in combat in the distance.
This left those four who had obtained the Heritage stunned as they glared angrily at Ren Pingsheng. They weren't deaf; they heard every word he said without any hint of concealment.
"What? They all got Heritage?" Madelong was taken aback. He originally thought that Heritage was rare, and he wasn't even sure if Ren Pingsheng had any Heritage. He never expected that four individuals would actually obtain Heritage. This made him start to waver, unable to make a decision for a moment.
"I can prove that he also obtained Heritage. At that time, your Inheritance Tower shook, which indicates that Heritage has emerged." A martial artist suddenly pointed at Ren Pingsheng and chuckled, looking like he was enjoying the show. It turned out to be a martial artist from the Five Major Forces, possessing the cultivation of a Perfected Realm Martial Artist.
Ren Pingsheng narrowed his eyes and said expressionlessly, "Which sect are you from? Don't you know that speaking recklessly will come with consequences?"
"Hehe, do you think you can make me pay the price? Our Xuanjian Sect is not something you can threaten!" He seemed to find it amusing and burst into laughter.
"The name of Xuanjian Sect is quite grand; do you think I care about it?"
"How bold! To disrespect my Xuanjian Sect, with your cultivation level, you should be grateful to survive. Yet you dare to provoke me; I could crush you with one hand."
"Is everyone in Xuanjian Sect as arrogant as you? Truly ignorant of your own mortality. Since you want to die, then leave your life behind!" Ren Pingsheng sneered, completely disregarding the ugly expressions of the other three disciples from the sect. He stepped forward and charged at them.
"You brat, you really obtained Heritage! Where do you think you're going? Hand over the Heritage first!" Madelong immediately drew his Longsword and followed closely behind, as did the Young Master of the Heavenly Evil Sect.
"Very well, you dare to attack me. You're seeking death!" The disciple from Xuanjian Sect laughed in anger. He initially wanted to see a fight between Ren Pingsheng and Madelong, which was why he said that. Of course, more than anything, he was jealous that Ren Pingsheng had gained the recognition of the King's Artifact. He had just made his move but was completely ignored by the artifact.
Now being looked down upon by such a person filled him with rage. He unleashed his attack with thunderous force, intending to eliminate Ren Pingsheng to relieve his frustration.
In mid-charge, Ren Pingsheng instantly appeared before the disciple of Xuanjian Sect, thrusting his Azure Wind Sword forward. Before the sword even arrived, a killing intent surged forth, causing fear. The disciples of the Evil Sect were also startled by his unusual speed; however, being from a major sect meant they were not ordinary either.
He retreated swiftly, and his Longsword slashed out several streams of Sword Qi in an attempt to delay Ren Pingsheng's attack. But as Ren Pingsheng merely swung his Azure Wind Sword up and down once, those streams of Sword Qi dissipated. With a single step forward, he increased his speed further and slashed diagonally at the Longsword held by the disciple of Xuanjian Sect. The disciple felt a surge of True Qi rush towards him and was sent flying with a pale face.
At this moment, Madelong and the Young Master of the Heavenly Evil Sect's attacks also arrived from behind. Without even looking back, Ren Pingsheng countered with a golden Sword Qi that blocked their attacks and then used the recoil force to fly towards the flying disciple of Xuanjian Sect at an even faster speed.
The sword moved like a startling rainbow, getting closer in the eyes of that sword sect disciple. This filled him with dread; throughout their exchanges, he had been at a disadvantage and didn't even have the strength to retaliate.
At this point, he regretted his earlier arrogance. However, he knew it was useless to beg for mercy now. His True Qi surged within him, halting his retreating form. With a flick of his Longsword, he conjured dozens of sword shadows to block Ren Pingsheng's thrust aimed at him.
"How could this happen... Oh no!" All those sword shadows struck empty air as Ren Pingsheng's attack shattered both him and his Longsword. He exclaimed in shock as his face changed drastically. Just as he realized what was happening, a Longsword silently struck at his back.
"Bang..." The latent force within the Longsword erupted violently. Waves of furious Sword Qi surged into that disciple from Xuanjian Sect, wreaking havoc within him. In just two breaths, it rushed into his Heart at such speed that he couldn't even defend against it.
The disciple of the Xuanjian Sect let out a few miserable cries, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood before collapsing straight down. His eyes were wide open in disbelief at the outcome. He actually died at the hands of a martial artist with Intermediate Martial Master cultivation; it was simply an enormous joke.
The other two disciples of the Xuanjian Sect had initially just been spectators. In their view, Ren Pingsheng was being overly arrogant, and they were happy to watch the show. However, the situation changed too rapidly; by the time they realized what had happened, their companion was already dead. This filled them with anger and deep trepidation. For a moment, they did not take any action.
Ren Pingsheng touched his body and then flashed forward to meet Madelong and the Heavenly Evil Sect Young Master, who had arrived not far away. Seeing a Perfected Realm Martial Artist from the Xuanjian Sect die at Ren Pingsheng's hands left both of them feeling apprehensive. Especially the Heavenly Evil Sect Young Master, who only had high-level Martial Master cultivation. The thought of potentially losing his life made him unable to endure any longer; he turned and fled.
"Damn it!" Madelong cursed when he finally reacted. By the time he wanted to leave, it was already too late. Ren Pingsheng had reached him and blocked his path.
"Kid, I don't want the Heritage anymore; how about we call it quits?" Although he was unwilling, he spoke in a conciliatory tone.
"Oh, you want it when you want it, but not when you don't? Is there such a good deal?" Ren Pingsheng said with a half-smile.
"Kid, don't think I'm afraid of you. I'm not like that dead guy from earlier; we can both perish together if it comes to that." For someone of his cultivation level, speaking so humbly was already quite humiliating. Now being mocked by Ren Pingsheng made him furious; he no longer cared about the consequences.
"Is that so? Then go die!" He raised his Azure Wind Sword, and his entire aura changed as if he were the master of this world; everything seemed to pause. Only the sword in his hand seemed to gather all power and slashed down.
"Ah..." Madelong felt that Sword Qi magnifying in his eyes, but his body was enveloped by an inexplicable force, rendering him unable to move. He screamed in terror, trying to struggle free. Unfortunately, just as that thought arose, he was split in two by a fleeting Sword Light.
"Crash..." His innards spilled onto the ground, blood soaking the earth and corroding many hearts. All martial artists who noticed this battle wore expressions of shock. Their gazes flickered away, not daring to look directly at Ren Pingsheng.
In just two minutes, two Perfect Martial Master Realm experts had died at the hands of a martial artist with Intermediate Martial Master cultivation without even having a chance to fight back. Was there anything more terrifying than this?
