"Everyone, I think we should forget about that skeleton; there might be danger involved," Ren Pingsheng said after a moment of thought.
"Danger? What kind of danger could there be? Do you think a dead skeleton could come back to life and attack us?" Li Feng seemed solely focused on the treasure and dismissed Ren Pingsheng's warning.
"Heh, you can't say that for sure! Don't you think those three strange beasts are actually here to suppress that skeleton?" He smiled, ignoring Li Feng's mocking tone.
"You're overthinking it. What’s there to suppress in a skeleton? Let's focus on how to get the treasures from its body!" Manli's eyes flickered as he rejected Ren Pingsheng's opinion.
"Have you all forgotten about the figure we encountered in the passage? Where did it go now?" As he spoke, his gaze shifted to the three passages leading away from the hall.
"I almost forgot about that; that figure was indeed a problem. Did it enter one of the other passages?" This remark reminded them, and they immediately recalled the eerie figure and the two empty Stone Chambers.
"How about we search those passages first?" Li Feng suggested after thinking for a moment.
"Alright, there are three passages in total. Two people per passage; after searching, we'll regroup here." Manli hesitated briefly but made the decision.
He and Li Feng chose one passage, Zhao Long and Brother Tiger took another, while Ren Pingsheng and Wu Kai were left with the last one. The six of them carefully avoided the altar in the center of the hall and approached the three passages before entering them.
"No matter what happens, return on time in half an hour," Manli reminded them before they left.
Ren Pingsheng and Wu Kai entered the last passage. In truth, he brought up the previous incident just to divert their attention temporarily and to find a good excuse for himself to slip away. He believed that even though they had entered the passage, some would inevitably return early.
Compared to whatever treasures might belong to that uncertain figure, they were likely more interested in the treasures on that skeleton. Anyone with sense would know that this person was definitely a powerful figure from Ancient Times; whatever he possessed was bound to be extraordinary, perhaps even containing the legacy they most desired.
Now, he couldn't stop them; the only way out was to leave. With no grudges or enmity, he certainly couldn't kill them all. So he deliberately mentioned this matter as a way to find an escape route.
At this moment, there were no outsiders around. He accelerated fully, like the Azure Wind blowing through the passage, closely following the figure in the distance. However, that figure was surprisingly fast as well, making it impossible to close the distance. He could only follow at a vague distance, unable to clearly see what it was.
While Ren Pingsheng was continuously chasing that figure in the passage, the explorers in the other two passages also stopped and began discussing something together. Then, they all turned in unison and headed back toward the Hall. It seemed they all had the same idea; perhaps the suggestion to search the passages was merely an excuse, a way to act separately from others.
The first to return to the Hall was Wu Kai, as he reacted first due to Ren Pingsheng's situation. However, looking at the three strange Demon Beasts in the distance made him feel uneasy, and he hesitated to take action.
Just as he was hesitating, Brute Force and Li Feng returned from their passage. When they saw Wu Kai, they were momentarily stunned. Before they could react, Zhao Long and Brother Tiger also returned from their passage. The five of them exchanged glances and shared awkward smiles.
It seemed that none of them were foolish; if they could think of it, so could others. They had all intended to act separately but ended up running into each other, which was rather ironic.
"It seems everyone has come to the same conclusion; there's nothing wrong with that. If we act together, we have a better chance. But where is Ren Pingsheng?" Brute Force smiled and spoke first.
"In the passage, I tried to bring him along, but he refused to come back," Wu Kai replied honestly.
"He was blocking us before; now it seems he's a bit scared. Forget about this coward; without him, we can share more Treasure," Li Feng said with a dismissive expression.
"Alright then, let's deal with these three strange Demon Beasts first," Brute Force said with a wave of his hand, preparing to approach slowly.
"I think these three Demon Beasts are too strange; no one knows what abilities they have. I believe we should just hold them off and grab the Treasure from the Corpse before leaving immediately," Wu Kai suggested quietly.
"Yes, that's right. We're here for Treasure, not to fight these strange Demon Beasts," Brute Force nodded in agreement after a moment of surprise. "In that case, I'll hold off the three Demon Beasts with Li Feng and Zhao Long while you take the opportunity to grab the Corpse."
"Okay!" Li Feng and the others nodded in agreement. Wu Kai was the weakest among them; once he got the Treasure, they weren't worried about him escaping. If Brute Force took action instead, they would hesitate.
"Alright, let's go!" Brute Force shouted loudly. His figure flashed as he swung his Long Sword down, casting a massive shadow over one Soul Devouring Beast. Li Feng unleashed a Fire Sea that ensnared the second Soul Devouring Beast while Zhao Long and Brother Tiger wielded their Long Sword to create towering waves that held back the last Soul Devouring Beast.
The Soul Devouring Beast appeared extremely agitated and furious in response to the attack from Brute Force and others, roaring loudly. The members of Brute Force felt the sound pierce their ears, causing their spirits to sway, and everything went dark before their eyes. Although it was just a brief moment, it truly startled them.
Not daring to be negligent, they quickly covered their ears with True Qi and focused on dealing with the three Soul Devouring Beasts. At this moment, they did not dare to make any overly aggressive moves; they could only try their best to hold off the three Soul Devouring Beasts.
“Roar…” The Soul Devouring Beasts continued to roar, moving at incredible speed, their fists swinging continuously, forcing the four of them to retreat step by step. The main issue was that their voices were too strange; even True Qi could not block them. Therefore, every time they attempted to use their martial skills, they were abruptly interrupted and unable to unleash their full power.
However, these Soul Devouring Beasts did not seem to reach the King Level Boundary, only slightly stronger than them, making it impossible for them to escape for the time being.
At this moment, Wu Kai seized the opportunity. Seeing that the three Soul Devouring Beasts were unable to break free, he moved swiftly into the Altar, then activated his True Qi, wrapping up the Corpse and running away.
“Roar…” Wu Kai’s actions instantly enraged the three Soul Devouring Beasts, causing their voices to rise sharply. This time, the four members of Brute Force felt an even stronger impact; everything went black before their eyes, and they collapsed to the ground with blood flowing from their noses and eyes.
The Soul Devouring Beasts paid no attention to them and turned their voices toward Wu Kai, chasing after him. Their cries were incessant, filled not only with agitation but also a hint of fear.
Unfortunately for them, Wu Kai was not slow; he flickered several times and reached the edge of the Hall. Just as he was about to step into the passageway, the Corpse wrapped in True Qi beside him began to stir. Streams of gray gas swirled around it. It seemed that without the suppression of the Altar, it had revived instantly.
“Have the pieces I set up back then finally come into play?” The mist on the Corpse gathered more and more until in just a few blinks, a range of ten feet was completely filled. Amidst the fluctuations, a shadow seemed to appear faintly.
“Roar…” The three pursuing Soul Devouring Beasts roared loudly, and then the Evil Ghost Mark on their foreheads suddenly lit up. With a wide mouth, they managed to suck away half of the gray mist.
The figure within the mist groaned softly; as the mist diminished, its form faded slightly as well. The figure angrily shouted, “You damned beasts! Now that you are out of the Altar, you can no longer do anything to me. Once this body helps me recover, I will deal with you.”
