The interior of the cave is like a human purgatory, with heavy machine gun turrets constantly spewing out tongues of fire, and traps scattered on the ground and walls occasionally exploding in the darkness, emitting a piercing blast. All of this mixed together creates a chilling symphony: gunfire, explosions, the screeches of the Insect tribe, and the roars of human warriors.
"Three o'clock direction, full firepower!" shouted a soldier of the Iron Fist, followed by a burst of intense gunfire. However, a tentacle of the Insect tribe suddenly shot out from the darkness, instantly sweeping him away. His screams abruptly ceased, leaving only the roars of the other warriors and the bullets filling the void.
"Do not stop! Keep moving forward!" Leo's face was tense as he fired his rifle ahead, aiming at the target while directing the remaining team members. His gaze was sharp, but his heart was filled with unease.
After a hard-fought battle, they finally arrived at the entrance of the insect nest. Leo contacted the wolf pack via radio.
" wolf pack, we are close to the entrance, how's the situation on your end?"
"We've held our ground, come up quickly!" responded the captain of wolf pack with a tone of courage and determination in his voice.
Iron Fist Finally emerged from the depths of the cave, only to find the wolf pack already waiting at the entrance. Armed with various weapons, the squad members' armor showed obvious signs of wear and tear, but their morale remained high.
"Great, you're here," the captain of the wolf pack said upon seeing them, immediately directing everyone to reposition.
"We need to leave here quickly! The nuclear bomb countdown has 12 minutes left!" Leo glanced at the countdown timer, his heart wrenching.
Suddenly, the entire insect nest began to shake violently. All the Insect tribe seemed to have received some kind of unknown command and started to retreat quickly.
"What's that sound?!" a warrior from the wolf pack exclaimed.
"I don't know, but it's definitely not good! Everyone, prepare to evacuate!" Leo immediately issued the command.
Iron Fist and wolf pack soldiers quickly rushed towards the cave exit. The eerie rumbling sound behind them grew closer and closer, as if something enormous from the depths of the earth was rapidly approaching.
Every second felt like a race with the Grim Reaper, and every step could be the dividing line between life and death for them. The enormous sound from the depths added more uncertainty and fear to the impending nuclear explosion.
When Leo led the wolf pack closer to the exit, the ground tremors grew stronger, as if foreshadowing an ominous future. Suddenly, a giant centipede-like Xyphos burst from the ground, spewing sticky liquid from its mouth. Its claws directly grabbed three soldiers and swallowed them in an instant.
"Major Jack, this is wolf pack, we have encountered a large Xyphos creature, suffered heavy losses, and need urgent support!" Leo urgently called out.
However, to Leo's surprise, Major Jack responded, "Ghost Sniper team, stay in place and ensure our safety. Do not go to support the wolf pack."
"Are you kidding me?!" Leo was so angry that he almost collapsed. He cursed Major Jack, "Our lives are in danger here, and you only care about yourself!"
Without waiting for Major Jack's response, Leo closed the communication channel with him directly. He quickly switched to the general frequency, attempting to attract the attention of other units.
"This is Bravo Team, we are surrounded and in need of urgent support! Repeat! This is Bravo Team, we are surrounded and in need of urgent support! Are there any friendly forces able to provide fire cover or emergency rescue?"
However, the channel was filled with the roar of battle and the intense sound of gunfire. It seemed like everyone was fully engaged in fighting Xyphos, with no one having time to heed Leo's cries.
The situation was becoming increasingly dangerous as the massive Xyphos slowly approached them, its eyes revealing a hungry gaze. The soldiers of the wolf pack panicked and fired their weapons, but the bullets seemed to have no effect on this Xyphos, as its outer skin was as hard as steel.
Time passed by minute by minute, each moment making Leo feel more and more desperate. He knew that without support, they would have no chance of survival. In the allied forces channel, there was no response except for the intense sounds of other teams battling fiercely.
The remaining members of the Iron Fist and wolf pack picked up their last weapons and unleashed a barrage of fire at the Insect tribe beast. Bullets and lasers drew streaks of light in the narrow battlefield, but it was like hitting a wall. The beast's shell was as solid as a stone wall, with the bullets leaving only a few insignificant marks on its surface.
The sound of the radio became increasingly unsettling, as high-frequency screams and distress signals overwhelmed everything. The beast's claws suddenly reached out, instantly pulling a soldier into its enormous mouth, as if chewing on a morsel of food.
Despair flooded Leo's soul, and the gun in his hand grew heavier. He hesitated for a moment, his gaze drifting to the last plasma grenade in his gear bag. He knew that using it might inflict harm on the beast, but it would also be his team's final hope.
At that moment, the sound of an engine cut through the sky, followed by a rocket flying towards the giant beast at an astonishing speed. The rocket pierced through the pressure wave of the air, shaking everyone's soul, and finally exploded violently in front of the giant beast.
"Alpha Team, come in for support!" A familiar voice came over the radio, it was Mike.
The beast roared in anger due to the explosion, but this time, it was indeed injured. The flames and smoke left a huge wound on its nearly invincible shell.
The roar of the beast shook the entire underground cave, causing rocks to fall from the walls. But this time, due to the rocket attacks from Mike and his Alpha Team, a huge wound finally appeared on its nearly indestructible shell. Flames and smoke billowed from the wound, indicating that the beast was indeed injured.
"Keep shooting! Don't stop!" Mike shouted, and members of Alpha Team picked up rocket launchers, firing one after another at the giant beast.
The beast felt pain and anger, and its many tentacles suddenly lashed out, trying to attack Mike's squad. This change finally gave Leo and his squad a chance to catch their breath.
"Hurry! Run towards the exit!" Leo shouted.
He opened his own HUD system and saw that the countdown for the nuclear bomb had seven and a half minutes left. The time pressure made his heart race, but he knew that now was not the time to panic.
At that moment, Mike skillfully maneuvered " The Weasel " around the giant beast, continuously firing bullets and rockets from the rocket launcher and machine gun at the beast.
Unable to endure the torment, the giant beast let out a deafening roar and suddenly burrowed into the ground, disappearing.
