Zhong Bo felt a sudden jolt in his heart as he looked at the unchanging expression of Yin Luo. Seeing no sign of abnormality in her, he was filled with suspicion and quickly led two people directly into the inner room.
Once inside the room, he found the bodies of three people lying quietly on the ground. He crouched down and checked the breath of the nearest one, shocked to find that they were truly dead!
His gaze fell on the person's neck, where there was a thin cut stained with a slight trace of blood, clearly enough to determine that this was the fatal wound!
"Steward, this..."
A servant picked up a gold hairpin from among the corpses. Zhong Bo looked up and then glanced at the neck of the person beneath him, confirming that this was indeed the murder weapon!
He raised his arm and said, "Carry them out. Also, find a few people to clean this place up."
The servant complied and began to carry out the bodies one by one. Yin Luo stood in the courtyard while Su Yi stared wide-eyed at the dead being brought out from the room, too frightened to speak. After trembling for a while, she finally asked Yin Luo, "W-what happened to them... how did they die?"
Yin Luo looked at her pale face with calm eyes and lightly replied, "I killed them."
Su Yi was taken aback and raised her head; her originally pale face turned deathly white.
Yin Luo did not look at her again and directly turned to Zhong Bo, who had just come out from inside.
As an elder in the household, Zhong Bo remained composed. He did not inquire about the reasons behind this incident but simply said, "Your Highness, the room has been cleaned up. You may move back in. If there is nothing else, I will take my leave."
Yin Luo slightly nodded, and Zhong Bo took the remaining servants and left the courtyard.
Su Yi was still in a daze, unable to regain her senses. As Yin Luo started walking towards the room, she did not follow. When Yin Luo turned back and her gaze fell on her, Su Yi was startled, finally coming to her senses, and hurriedly followed.
She picked up a book to flip through while leaning against the couch, instructing Su Yi to brew tea. Su Yi was clearly still lost in thought, and when pouring the tea, she was distracted. Without looking up, Yin Luo said, "It's full."
Su Yi was startled and realized that the tea had already overflowed from the cup. She quickly found something to wipe it up and then handed the teacup to Yin Luo, but her fingers were clearly trembling uncontrollably.
Yin Luo glanced at her and raised her head to look at Su Yi. Su Yi's eyes were clearly vacant; upon meeting Yin Luo's gaze, she straightened up and hurriedly brought the tea closer, saying, "Princess, please have some tea."
Yin Luo accepted the tea and took a sip before saying, "You don't need to be so afraid of me. I killed today only for self-defense; I won't kill without reason. Do you understand?"
"Servant... servant..."
"As long as you are loyal and do your job well, that is enough. I am not harsh with people. How others treat me is how I treat them. As long as you have no ulterior motives, I will not mistreat you."
"Yes... yes..."
Yin Luo looked at her, thinking that she would not recover so quickly after all; she was just a young girl who had been terrified out of her wits by witnessing a murder.
She set down the teacup and said, "You can go now; you don't need to serve me today."
Upon hearing this, Su Yi felt as if she had received a great pardon. She quickly bowed and hurriedly walked out.
In the time that followed, in the Cold Jade Garden, it was certain that the news from the morning had spread quickly; by now, the entire royal residence must have heard about it.
This was actually a good thing. Letting people know she was a ruthless person would mean fewer people would foolishly come to trouble her in the future!
She did not want to be embroiled in any controversies.
Just as she was about to go to bed at night, there was a commotion at the door of her chamber.
Yin Luo sat up, watching as someone entered from outside. Her brows furrowed, clearly displeased.
Although this was Jin Wangfu and he was Jin Wang, it was still late at night; one should at least announce their presence before barging into someone else's room!
